Until Monday…

I’m on a long weekend with my family and will be back Monday with my regularly scheduled breakdown of summer’s second leg.

8.7.10 - The Greek (Wendy Rogell)

Jam of the Day:

Rock and Roll” 8.6.10 II

This underrated jam from The Greek followed up the opening night’s “Disease” as the second example of Phish’s newest jamming style. Look for Fishman’s dynamic rhythms that frame the band’s melodic interplay in the second half of the jam.

Official Telluride Poster (Stout)

A solid, straight-forward rock show in the mountains. “Carini” and “YEM” highlighted the second set, and “Mikes > Crosseyed” ain’t too shabby of a combo either.

I: The Squirming Coil, Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan, Ya Mar, Timber Ho, Let Me Lie, The Divided Sky, Walk Away, Roses Are Free, Limb By Limb, Bouncing Around the Room, Run Like an Antelope

II: Party Time, Mike’s Song > Crosseyed and Painless > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove, Destiny Unbound, Carini > Free > Heavy Things, You Enjoy Myself

E: Shine a Light

The RT is a master vault reel I believe.

But C. Miller’s source will have all this missing pieces…

  6. El Duderino Says:

Do they even broadcast the NFL in Canada???

  7. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

Right. Didn’t steal dinner. But it was a free steak dinner! Giftcard FTW!

  8. Robear Says:

Canada, one silly ‘down’ from having decent football.

  9. Mr.Palmer Says:

Kids in bed. Cracked open ice cold Long Trail. Glass piece packed to the gills , ready to it play on the Vegas Wolfy. See ya’ll on the other side.

Nice. Think I’ll check out that VW again too. Rachel Maddow is boring. Important, but boring.

    robear, good luck my man

  12. Mr.Palmer Says:

Not a Maddow fan. Not sure why. then again i can’t stand all those political commentators. Left, Right, Center… its all bullshit. I like Jon Stewart , thats about it.

  13. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    and the field is longer
    and the field is wider
and running starts for the receivers
and there’s a twelfth player on the field
    and there’s no fair catch
    and more!

@T3: Never did hit the Chophouse but always heard good word

There’s a tapa’s restaurant just around corner from the train station that’s supposed to be good:

and I’ve been to an excellent little sushi joint, Baba Sushi, further away on Park Avenue (this is in Worcester, MA folks):

  15. sumodie Says:

@mrP: Boston to Amherst, MA is more like 1 hr 45 min, even less with ‘efficient’ driving

A much better place than Utica, if I may say 8)

  16. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    wormtown represent!

sumo, we’ve found a number of really solid restaurants in worcester. great bar culture too, especially places like the Dive Bar, Vincent’s, and such. love going out in Woo-town!

  17. Mr.Palmer Says:

Sumo – while your here. Any suggestions for where to stay in Amherst. Boston is too far for me to drive post show.

  18. Mr.Palmer Says:

I decided Umass over Utica. Saturday is the key for me. Makes life a lot easier. Should be a beautiful autumn in the NE.

  19. sumodie Says:

@mrP: Umm…not sure what’s left -heard local hotels/motels required 2 day stays too

    Try places listed here:

Northampton MA is very close and a great option too

Hadley MA (in between Amherst & Noho) also fine:
    -Comfort Inn
    -Knight’s Inn
    -Hampton Inn

The industrial cities just south, Holyoke & Springfield, are not so hot, but not necessarily out of the question

  20. sumodie Says:

    @mrP: Exactly!

also a hotel on the UMass campus -google that too

as well as South Deerfield’s Red Roof Inn (slightly north of Amherst -not far at all, also recommended)

    gotta go for now…

  21. Mr.Palmer Says:

Great, thanks for the advice. Sounds like i should get on it. Only going to one night.

“Do they even broadcast the NFL in Canada???”

lol yes. a lot of my friends are huge fans. i am not

  23. Dr. Pronoia Says:

Is anyone watching the Spike Lee documentary on Katrina (and the BP spill)?? Shaming, horrible, depressing, but it should be mandatory viewing for every American.

The Vegas Wolfmans is important and all, but this is the reality of this past decade in our nation…

Not trying to be sanctimonious…it’ll be on demand and on a bunch more – check it out at some point

  24. butter Says:

    hi i’m butter and i’m a phishaholic

i’ve had experiences that are so high, they suggest i should walk away from tour because i’ve gotten everything out of it possible

  25. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

i could use a spike lee joint right now
