"Fee" - 8.12.10 (M. Stein)

After a sloppy opening frame, Phish came back with one of their more creatively constructed sets of tour. “Drowned” brought the band into a new-school rhythmic-ambient jam, while they connected  “Jibboo > Gin” with a seamless segue. Trey left the whale behind on this second set “Bathtub Gin” using his Ocedoc to carve melodies into the summer night. After a quality mid-set interlude, Phish capped the evening by deconstructing “Split” into “Dog-Faced Boy,” and an impressive “Hood” which passes through an unorthodox segment of darkness on  the way to the top. All-in-all, this show is flying under the radar due to larger explosions at The Greek and Alpine Valley.

I: Runaway Jim, Punch You In the Eye, Roggae, Cars Trucks Buses, Sample in a Jar, NICU, Horn, Sugar Shack, Wolfman’s Brother, Time Turns Elastic

II: Drowned > Gotta Jibboo > Bathtub Gin, My Friend, My Friend, Buffalo Bill, Twist, The Horse > Silent in the Morning , Split Open and Melt > Dog Faced Boy, Harry Hood > Golgi Apparatus

E: Fee* > NO2* > Kung* > Fire

def under the radar. This goes back to my different strokes for different folks theory but I thought both DC shows were the heat. Maybe it was the 96 degree heat with 100% humidity but DC was a blast. oh yeah first again biathches!!

Thanks for nice musical nugs, Miner.

Beautiful saturday morning in New England with cool temps which makes relaxin with a hippie speedball on the porch simply sublime.

It’s the weekend kids, and we’ve been going over some standout shows, eras etc. Seems certain songs/shows/runs are “must listens”. Hell, I know most of em from over the years, but in some cases just didn’t get around to listening.

Any other musts that people wanna ante up? For instance, I didn’t know that set 2 of 10/30/98 was a “must”. Now I do.

My musts are a little more common….like 12/29 and 12/30/97.

side note: got so baned with 3 of my friends at the bar last nite that we lost one of us. Got a text from dude at 5:25 am saying he was good…his wife was out of town with kids….he gets a little nutty under those circumstances bonus: I’ve finally transistioned into rolling with “tips”. Keeps shit neat.

Spending this beautiful new England day teaching people what not to forget when going camping. Great day to be outside, especially on public lands.

  8. Gavinsdad Says:

Gorgeous day here as well…unfortunnately my eldest is running a fever…so I’m gonna hang in with him….gonna grab Willy Wonka to watch later tho 🙂

    we need order restored!

too bad aw isn’t around with some snappy lines about little phishies

    Morning Boys!
Trying to think of a must to listen to. Brain not working.
Here’s a non-phish must for any music lover.

Van Morrison – It’s too late to stop now.
2 CD live recording….Pure fire if you’re into that.

  11. Gavinsdad Says:

That Van album is the shiz

  12. hoedown Says:

Morning BB. Speaking of must listens I think everyone needs to hear the Lemonwheel soundcheck. Sublime jamming right there.

Morning guys! It’s been a while. Work’s been a little crazy and a lot stressful this week…and another one starts on Monday. Just more reason to enjoy this weekend. Nice day waiting for me down South too…drier air, nice breezes – fall’s just around the corner.

Looks like I need to extend a “Welcome to the BB” to our new posters…quite a few have hopped on board recently.

Nice little writeup Miner. Very much agreed…DC1 set 2 is a really good one. We were all scratching our heads at setbreak…first set was just bad, no other way to spin it. CTB was pretty awesome, WB wasn’t bad, and the last half of Roggae was nice ( 😉 @duder) but everything else was, well, pretty much a wreck. But damn did they ever make up for it in the second frame. Smokin’ set filled with great playing, tasty improv, and slick slick segues.

    Y’all have a good one…

Oh, @willowed…VAN’S the MAN! Nice choice.

    morning all,
went on an actual date with my wife for the first time in 11 months last night! Awesome time, so nice. In the past 11 months I have seen Phish 8 times, travelled around the world twice and been to NYC 8 times. Having a kid sure can make the simple things hard.

Have a great weekend my people!

  15. badphish Says:

What a great weekend. Im sitting just to the left of the guy video taping that encore. I dont even remember the first set not sounding like anything but perfection till i listened to it again. The end of drowned was just amazing. Slipped right into jibbo and then again into gin. I was so happy to hear gin, it had been too long. I really enjoyed the melt jam also watching trey and page work with eachother was very cool.

  16. Robear Says:

    Top of the mornin’ all.
First rain of the season. Might put a damper on the hiking trip.
TIII, hows about a youtuber of yourself teaching the class? Or some Cliff Notes?

Hang in there Sancho. Better to have love than money. And is it sounds like the money’s coming soon!

Rendog, concur on Hershey ‘YEM’. Probably my favorite since the return. Followed closely by MSG.

Anyone need a job this fall?
Far from Phish tour, but couch tour could be in effect.
Involves plenty of lifting and packing. ( you find your true friends when it’s time to move )
Lots of good food, bane and spirits.
    Surrounded by natural beauty.
Pays pretty well, with hard to measure benefits.

Looking for a 16′-20′ enclosed trailer. Anyone need to part with one?

  17. lastwaltzer Says:

That is a great album. Love the Warm Love on there.

I don’t know if you’ve read any Nick Hornby (high fidelity) but he has a pretty funny essay about that album and how he wants the Cypress Avenue played at his funeral (i think thats the track).

  18. BingosBrother Says:

I’ll help you move Rob, click here.

  19. Dr. Pronoia Says:

^^ @AJ – On your 9th trip to NYC, we’re gonna hang out!

  20. El Duderino Says:

Phish 6/09/09 Asheville Civic Center 2cam DVD9 went up this morning on the TTD.

  21. El Duderino Says:

    @ robear

    So what’s the game plan?
You staying behind the Redwood Curtain?
Can you find another house rather easily or is it a real bitch to find rental properties up there?
The MaryJane laws are pretty relaxed here in NC.
    Come on down here…

  22. Robear Says:

duder, still in the planning stages. I’m up for a move to a new area, but the ex. owns her house out here, whereas I just rent. Any big move would have to involve her. That makes it difficult. Not many options out here, though. Just not many places. Will have to stay within’ an hour of the ex for kids exchange, school and all that. Have a fall back plan. My friend has an extra place on his property, but doesn’t get along with his land partner. I’d be smack in the middle of their problems.

Right now I’m trying to find a nice enclosed trailer to start loading my stuff into. I have an unreal amount of large items. Tractor with implements, safe, freezers, tools, etc. A big undertaking, that I don’t want to repeat anytime soon.

Have to sit down and have a talk with the ex and kids soon.

  23. El Duderino Says:

    @ Robear

I keep forgetting that you have children and the whole joint-cutody thing.
I hope you can find a happy medium between children, ex, Nor Cal lifestyle, somewhat near civilization for your sanity!

As sweet of a person you are Robear I can almost predict that something good is coming your way in an even better situation than you currently have!

  24. Gavinsdad Says:

Ro – still have a subset of friends up there. Drop
me an email if u want to talk about it

also, really thinking that beyond the NW, that AL and NO need some shows sometime soon. Spring?

  25. Robear Says:

Where do you cats go to stream and check out shows now? Might need to re-visit the VW in honor of all the banter. Don’t have it on hand.
