"Fee" - 8.12.10 (M. Stein)

After a sloppy opening frame, Phish came back with one of their more creatively constructed sets of tour. “Drowned” brought the band into a new-school rhythmic-ambient jam, while they connected  “Jibboo > Gin” with a seamless segue. Trey left the whale behind on this second set “Bathtub Gin” using his Ocedoc to carve melodies into the summer night. After a quality mid-set interlude, Phish capped the evening by deconstructing “Split” into “Dog-Faced Boy,” and an impressive “Hood” which passes through an unorthodox segment of darkness on  the way to the top. All-in-all, this show is flying under the radar due to larger explosions at The Greek and Alpine Valley.

I: Runaway Jim, Punch You In the Eye, Roggae, Cars Trucks Buses, Sample in a Jar, NICU, Horn, Sugar Shack, Wolfman’s Brother, Time Turns Elastic

II: Drowned > Gotta Jibboo > Bathtub Gin, My Friend, My Friend, Buffalo Bill, Twist, The Horse > Silent in the Morning , Split Open and Melt > Dog Faced Boy, Harry Hood > Golgi Apparatus

E: Fee* > NO2* > Kung* > Fire

    122 shows for me over 18 years…

Nothing big but just enough to know what’s going on…

  2. Mitch Says:

Anyone wondering why the boys tours are so spread out and random? Maybe they are trying to keep us from following.

Pg 126 of the bio has a quote from Trey about how the impact of tour and with fossil fuels bothers them.

Just throwing it out there. Dunno if it really has an affect on their tour routing.

  3. jdub Says:

An argument could easily be made for Greek 3, AV 1, or JB1 for best 2 sets of summer. I think it is purely a matter of taste because all 3 were excellent from top to bottom.

  4. El Duderino Says:

Then Phish needs to be talkin’ to willie Nelson about the trucks and bus fuels

  5. ThePigSong Says:

    woah- mitch citing specific pages!

  6. Mr.Palmer Says:

can’t a man change his mind? 🙂 If we’ve learned anything here, it’s beauty is in the eyes and ears of the beholder. This ” best of” nonsense is totally subjective and can change upon further inspection.

  7. El Duderino Says:

    @ Palmer

I’m makin’ fun of him not criticizing…

  8. El Duderino Says:

    Poking I should say.

  9. Mr.Palmer Says:

Its funny. DancingFool and Willowed will have you believe that the Gorge ’09 Gin is the best jam of 3.0. I don’t even think it’s the best jam of the Gorge run! That goes to the Rock and Roll. Subjectivity……

  10. Mitch Says:

Citing the page cause I’m on my iPhone and am reading and don’t wanna post the whole quote on this phone keyboard.

Fact is, they are gonna sell out anyway and if they don’t get tour rats more people will get to see them even tho venues are smaller. Also less tour scene which leads to less drugs etc etc

  11. Mr.Palmer Says:

This tour is going to straight up ” Blow the Fuck Up!” Small venues, NE stomping grounds. Be there!

  12. jdub Says:

If Phish was overtly trying to schedule tours with energy efficiency in mind would they have done a 2 week tour from Cali to NY?

  13. jdub Says:

Seems like this tour is primed for greatness. How awesome will it be to see top grade Phish in Augusta, ME! Not to mention every other small town they are hitting.

  14. albert walker Says:

To my ears Greek 3 set II is the obvious best set of leg 2

Light is. Just amazing as the centerpiece jam

Suzy, light, and hood get peak 3.0 treatments

    Theme and 2001 just shreded

For me AV 1 while cleaner isn’t as creative and I prefer the Greek light over Dwd

AV 1 set 1 is so hot it makes AV 1 the hottest total show plus its the best Trey performance of summer

  15. KWL Says:

new company idea/way to finance tour: drive a bus on phish tour, sell the seats

    call it: ‘green tour’

‘reduce your carbon footprint by gettin on the bus’

  16. Robear Says:

nice lycan. zip files? then maybe all the tracks could be downloaded at once, instead of one at a time. I have never tried, though. AW, Mr. C could explain.

  17. Mitch Says:

I think the west shows were giving them love. And it was a cannonball run between all the shows which led to more flying and less driving.

  18. Mitch Says:

Hold ctrl and click the folder. “archive” them an it makes a zip.

  19. Mr.Palmer Says:

You can throw all the Greeks, AV’s, and JB’s in a blender and whatever set comes up you got yourself some top shelf Phish 3.0. I won’t get tired of spinning any of those.

: Palmer searches wife’s pocketbook for credit card so he can place one more PTBM order without her knowledge:

  20. Robear Says:

that didn’t work @ mitch. didn’t give me ‘archive’ as a choice. Choices:

‘save as, send to, open new link, copy link, etc’

def. some hard tours to drive. i don’t think they mind less people ‘on tour’ by car. they want us to have diesels running bio-grease and such. plus, to be happy.

  21. Mr.Palmer Says:

Hows the livephish App for Iphone? Looks like its well worth the $4. Anyone?

  22. Robear Says:

great point @ palmer. lots of magic Phish, little filler. add the second set’s from DC 1 and Telly 1, plus set 1 of Telly 2 while you’re at it.

  23. albert walker Says:

Out of the shows I caught Greek 3 and alpine 1 have a crispness and energy the other 3 from that run do not

    Didn’t see jb though

Great leg but to my ears theirs noticeable extra magic at those 2

Just one kids tours done opinion

    Great phish no doubt

  24. gavinsdad Says:

as of right now, i will put in for KWL and Halcy for CO if they need it. who else needs CO? Chuck D?

  25. albert walker Says:

    Talk to you kids later

    Off for some vinyl digging
