"Fee" - 8.12.10 (M. Stein)

After a sloppy opening frame, Phish came back with one of their more creatively constructed sets of tour. “Drowned” brought the band into a new-school rhythmic-ambient jam, while they connected  “Jibboo > Gin” with a seamless segue. Trey left the whale behind on this second set “Bathtub Gin” using his Ocedoc to carve melodies into the summer night. After a quality mid-set interlude, Phish capped the evening by deconstructing “Split” into “Dog-Faced Boy,” and an impressive “Hood” which passes through an unorthodox segment of darkness on  the way to the top. All-in-all, this show is flying under the radar due to larger explosions at The Greek and Alpine Valley.

I: Runaway Jim, Punch You In the Eye, Roggae, Cars Trucks Buses, Sample in a Jar, NICU, Horn, Sugar Shack, Wolfman’s Brother, Time Turns Elastic

II: Drowned > Gotta Jibboo > Bathtub Gin, My Friend, My Friend, Buffalo Bill, Twist, The Horse > Silent in the Morning , Split Open and Melt > Dog Faced Boy, Harry Hood > Golgi Apparatus

anyone know what phish’s first visit to amsterdam was? i’m going back and trying to digest the europe tours and was re-reading this article:

and it says it was their 2nd trip to amsterdam. i thought feb 97 was their first euro-trip.

    someone school me please.

  3. Mr.Palmer Says:

They hit Europe in ’96 i believe. Spring

  4. Mr.Palmer Says:

    Summer ’96 actually

    Friday, 07/12/1996 Melkweg, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Set 1: Wilson, The Divided Sky, Horn, Split Open and Melt, Ya Mar, Funky Bitch, Taste, Theme From the Bottom, Tweezer, Llama

Set 2: It’s Ice -> Prince Caspian -> Mike’s Song -> Run Like an Antelope -> Purple Rain > Hold Your Head Up, Jam, NICU -> Slave to the Traffic Light, Suzy Greenberg

Set 3: David Bowie -> Free, Hello My Baby

Encore: Bathtub Gin, Johnny B. Goode

Notes: The reworked Taste debuted at this show, and Trey announced that the song would be performed like this (the Billy Breathes album version) from now on. Slave, Bowie, and Free were all unfinished. The jam before NICU was interactive, as the band jammed on chords yelled out by the fans.

Thanks to Bingos (I think?) for putting that Radiohead link up. Cool camera angles, some shake but not too much, and the sbd sounds great. I can’t wait to see these guys again. Next to Phish, I think they put on some of the most compelling live shows on. But that’s just me.

Anyone pick up the You Enjoy My Mix from coventry music? It is mixed pretty good with nice flow to it.

I have several orders in for the BB. ::keep them fingers crossed::

  6. Mitch Says:

  9. joe Says:

for those on the fence about Manchester and far away. there’s a super easy and decently sized airport right there too.

  10. Jtran Says:

    A southwest airport right there

  11. Jtran Says:

I decided just a couple minutes ago that I want a Vegas Wolfman’s shirt.

Maybe it would be black, with some sort of orange or yellow font.

Also glad Lycan put up Amnesiac, made me realize I should listen to some Radiohead tonight.

  12. joe Says:

I guess that’s more accurate. JetBlue too?

  13. Mr.Palmer Says:

How about a Vegas Wolfman’s shirt as a spoof on the the infamous three wolf shirt?

  14. Jtran Says:

    That’d be something Palmer

  15. Jtran Says:

In my head I just pictured it like all those neon shirts you can buy on the Jersey shore. Instead of saying

    or whatever

  16. joe Says:

a wolfman in a degenerate gambler’s outfit with visor and member’s only jacket?

  17. Gavinsdad Says:

If they had paired up Manchester and Augusta that woulda been a cool little 2 pack. Easy in and out from that Manchester airport…agreed. We used it for a Portland wedding a few years back

  18. BingosBrother Says:

I just hired a migrant to post for me so don’t be offended if words get lost in translation.

  19. Aquaman Says:

    The Radiohead link is crack.

    Good work board.

Someone earlier talked about New Mastersounds. Looking for them to blow up big time for the North Coast Music Fest this coming weekend. Those guys love coming to Chicago. We chem’s in five days and NMS in six. Very good week.

So, how much for the Blossom poster. If I remember you ended up getting one?

    to the drop..

    some super silky jazz..

i am pretty sure been mentioned before here.

  21. Frycanthropist Says:

well in the process of adding i should say.

  22. JWP Says:

What are these Hampton & MSG shows that I’ve seen some folks referring to? Obviously, they are still rumored, but what are they exactly?

  23. jdub Says:

JWP Hampton is rumored to be around thanksgiving and MSG is the New years run. The MSG New years seems to be a solid rumor according to many.

  24. Frycanthropist Says:

i have heard around the fringes of the rumor world that hampton is a turkey run and MSG is a new years run

  25. Frycanthropist Says:

    whatever jdub

    you don’t know shit
