"Fee" - 8.12.10 (M. Stein)

After a sloppy opening frame, Phish came back with one of their more creatively constructed sets of tour. “Drowned” brought the band into a new-school rhythmic-ambient jam, while they connected  “Jibboo > Gin” with a seamless segue. Trey left the whale behind on this second set “Bathtub Gin” using his Ocedoc to carve melodies into the summer night. After a quality mid-set interlude, Phish capped the evening by deconstructing “Split” into “Dog-Faced Boy,” and an impressive “Hood” which passes through an unorthodox segment of darkness on  the way to the top. All-in-all, this show is flying under the radar due to larger explosions at The Greek and Alpine Valley.

I: Runaway Jim, Punch You In the Eye, Roggae, Cars Trucks Buses, Sample in a Jar, NICU, Horn, Sugar Shack, Wolfman’s Brother, Time Turns Elastic

II: Drowned > Gotta Jibboo > Bathtub Gin, My Friend, My Friend, Buffalo Bill, Twist, The Horse > Silent in the Morning , Split Open and Melt > Dog Faced Boy, Harry Hood > Golgi Apparatus

  2. Robear Says:

don’t forget to check out that filthy ‘2001’ from the Greek. Got lost in that one. so good, patient, so many fills. how’d they do that in 7 or so minutes?

  3. lastwaltzer Says:

“although not a true complete Mike’s Groove, my favorite has always been 12/31/95″Tela

BAM! Thats it for me, sure its broken up but……..

  4. tela'smuff Says:

mitch, i thought ’96 had a lot of good Mike’s.
’96 gets lost, rightly so as there are a bunch of underwhelming shows. but if you want to seek out stuff you maybe haven’t heard, giving ’96 a shot has it’s rewards. maybe you’ve heard this tuff, but it’s my experience many pass up ’96 save for the post-Halloween stuff and Vegas. With that being said, 3 songs got the special treatment Fall ’96. Mike’s, Simple, and Maze.

    10-26-96 – Simple
    10-31-96 – Maze & Simple
    11-07-96 – Gin
    11-08-96 – Maze, Simple, & Mike’s
    11-15-96 – Maze, Mike’s (letter M show)
    11-18-96 – 2001>Simple
    11-23-96 – Curtain>Mike’s>Simple>Makisupa>Axilla>Paug>Catapult !!!
    11-29-96 – Simple>Sparks
    12-04-96 – Mike’s (face melter)

ok. sorry. but these are must hear versions of each of these songs.

    7/17/98 = The Gorge

  6. Robear Says:

The scorching ‘Freekapaug’ from 12/31/95 blew the top of my skull off, and shattered my ankles.

Article is about people getting fired even though they have a medical card.

  8. KWL Says:

    mikes 12-31-95 delay jam

    see end of JB light

    2001: 12-29-98

  9. Robear Says:

lw, there’s a big case in Michigan right now. A guy with medical cannabis got fired from Wal-Mart.

Imagine losing your job for taking Lipitor or Vicodin.

  10. tela'smuff Says:

@Rob, that ’95 Paug, i was in the midst of my first xstcy experience, so our skull fragments were most likely mingling.

  11. lastwaltzer Says:

    @robear,

that gentlemen is mentioned in the article. According to the article only Rhode Island protects patients employment rights.

  12. Robear Says:

    where’s BigDeezy this morning?

    thoughts on 12/31/95?

tela’s, that was my last electric adventure, until the Greek 3.

  13. Themanatee Says:

    @ alumni
7-17-98 mikes groove absolutely one of my favs ever from the thick thick funk to the second mikes jam that Trey starts with the most tastefully placed and perfectly melodious lead in line to send shivers down the spine . From there it’s straight to heaven

  14. tela'smuff Says:

wow. did you ever pick a perfect time to get reacquainted with the subconscious. Greek 3 = Trey touched by Jerry. Special night.

  15. Gavinsdad Says:

Telas…seriously…you keep a spreadhsheet or something? All that can’t come off the top of your head…or can it? I’m fascinated by people with that much live phish knowledge and there are tons of em on this board. Mindblowing.

  16. Nagarjuna Says:

Damn robear, I wish my life allowed me to take you up on that offer. Surely the good vibes, good tunes, and general …atmosphere… would be compensation enough.

Would be cool if the bb had more physical proximity and we could pull a crew together to help. Sort of habitat for humanity meets Vegas wolfmans…

Anyway, good luck with everything! Hope you get some good help.

  17. Robear Says:

    hey manatee,

    glad to see you around!

::was just playin’ around when I said the ‘BoiseBag’ was over-rated. my little ways of seeing if miner is lurking. lo and behold, he posted on the next page 🙂 ::

  18. tela'smuff Says:

@GD – ha! no way dude. i mean, i did quite a few shows that tour so i recall how good those nights and versions were. but i pulled out my Phish Companion. Plus you can use Phish.net. It’s the Age of Computers GD. Get with it! 🙂

  19. Phamily Berzerker Says:

Huggiebear, I got a friend in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico with 40 acres who would be a great compliment to your skills and tools set..

I don’t know how far he his on the adobe complex.

  20. Corey Says:

Morning all. Still dancin’ after managing to get Toyota to cover a part/repair that costs $9200. That’s one part, yo.

Fer Four Setters, I dig the full monty of Lexvegas (Rupp 11.7):

Suzie>Bathtub>BIKE>Gin. Yeah Hold Your Head Up is there too…but admittedly, it’s part of whatever tune they toss in there.

But that 4.3 is cool too. 🙂

  21. Corey Says:

    ^Uhh, just waking up, apparently…

    >Gin = >YEM

  22. Leo Weaver Says:

@tela…good call on the Cypress Mike’s. The earth shook and we levitated. Crazy dark and menacing…in a world of fog and red light. Thanks for the ’96 list.

@Robear…hate to hear about your situation. I’ll send some good vibes out there for you. I know it’ll work out…you’ve got plenty of good karma points built up.

  23. Corey Says:

The Gin really was so good, I just had to name it twice.

  24. Livefreeordie Says:

The best mikes ever? I like slip stich & pass, what’s that germany 98? Careful with that axe Eugene, peace frog teases, sweet. But yes, way to many to even debate. Bdtnl, light, those ones are easy. I say the next mikes will be the best one, maybe the one after that

  25. Robear Says:

tela’s, no doubt, no doubt. all the stars aligned. could not have picked a better time. really a magical evening on so many levels. and it holds up on tape, as well, or better than i remember, if that’s possible.
