A Day Off

The Gorge '09 (Graham Lucas)

With another project in full-swing, I might have a few days off over the next couple weeks. Whether music or a video, however, there will always be something on the site worth checking out each and every day.

Jam of the Day:

Tweezer” 11.11.96 II

Fast-forwarding one week from yesterday’s Gainesville “Tweezer,” here is groove fiesta from Grand Rapids, Michigan. In only eight days, one can hear a significant progression from the Perazzo-assisted rhythms to intentional and slowed-down  Phish funk. Parts of this jam sound like they could be plucked from a 1997 show as the band’s new direction progressed each night of November ’96.

Tenax - 2.21.1997

Winter ’97 in Europe was the final step in discovering the pocket that Phish would explore for the next few years. This show in Florence came ten days before the band’s breakthrough in Hamburg, Germany on March 1, chronicled on Slip Stitch, and Pass. This second set featured dynamic and unfinished versions of “Antelope” and “Reba,” while the first half consisted of only six songs.

I: My Soul, Foam, Down with Disease, The Lizards, Crosseyed and Painless, You Enjoy Myself*

II: Ya Mar, Run Like an Antelope** > Wilson > The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > AC/DC Bag,  Billy Breathes, Reba** > Waste, Prince Caspian

E: Character Zero

*During the “Wash Uffize Drive Me to Firenze” section of YEM, Fish exclaimed “This is a dream come true!”

** unfinished

lady gaga makes just fine dance pop, but she needs to chill the hell out with everything else. for gods sake, she is Stephanie Germalota from down the block in Long Island, literally, thats who she is.

My favorite comment from the billboard story:

“We did not see the missing L.”

    Well, no shit Sherlock.

  3. SillyWilly Says:

to compare herself to Be-Bop artists is grossly misunderstanding what Be-Bop was all about.

and I really think that she does a disservice to those artists if she’s comparing herself to them.

  5. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

not comparing. just quoting Q-Tip on the fact that things go in cycles.

  6. Leo Weaver Says:

    Pretty sweet pad there, Jerry

  7. SillyWilly Says:

sorry TypeIII, Im not trying to be contentious this morning.

I didn’t mean to insinuate that those were your ideas.

I have a vendetta against many pop icons not understanding what they are doing.

I should keep that to myself, though, as it is a personal problem.

wow it’s links galore here this am.

The organization I work for has the word “public” in our name and you better believe we ctrl-F for “pubic” on every document and email we send out!

I thought they were supposed to go on sale at 10am today but that is probably 10am mtn time since there is no option to buy yet?

  13. Ryan Seacrest Says:

    Re: that zillow post

“There is even a hidden heroin room with a built in syringe. What a turd this junkie was!”

    give me a fckin break.

  14. She Divides Says:

oh, yea looks like a couple articles cited 10am mtn time…
We’ll already be in Denver for a wedding on 10/8, so we are going to try to check out the benefit concert, but no big loss if we miss it since we have tix to 10/10!

Lady Gaga is a puppet for the Illuminati.

Don’t we all read the Vigilant Citizen?

  16. BTB Says:

Jerry’s early 1990’s exercise bike…”still in mint condition”

  17. SillyWilly Says:

did Plord put up this Ott album?

    its pretty good.

i have been converted to the electronica that has been put up lately.

i dont think i ever would have said that 1 year ago before finding the BB.

  18. themanatee Says:

yeah b -rock, pretty bad decision. gotta chill a bit. his dad was a hellraiser there for a while too…so the apple doesnt fall far from the tree.

  19. themanatee Says:

    Ott’s Hallucinogen in Dub?

sooooooo good. like one of the best ever for me.

  20. halcyon Says:

You mentioned that Hallucinogen or Posford did Shpooled on an Ozric’s album. Searching for some to listen to last night and came across Youth doing Shpooled. Is Youth another moniker for Posford? Or are they 2 different artists?

  21. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

Don’t we all read the Vigilant Citizen?

    only on Illuminati holidays

  22. themanatee Says:

Youth is totally different . He is actually a bassist from Killing Joke, interestingly enough. He started producing records and his does lots of great electronic compliations. He started The Firemen, with Paul McCartney, if you can believe that, and they released a pretty damn good album last year or so that is really worth checking out. Incorporates McCartney melodies and pretty deep electronica at times.

  23. themanatee Says:

The track Posford remixed was Sploosh! by Ozric. Its a 1993 track of theirs, and apparently their only single ever. The remix is banging.
