A Day Off

The Gorge '09 (Graham Lucas)

With another project in full-swing, I might have a few days off over the next couple weeks. Whether music or a video, however, there will always be something on the site worth checking out each and every day.

Jam of the Day:

Tweezer” 11.11.96 II

Fast-forwarding one week from yesterday’s Gainesville “Tweezer,” here is groove fiesta from Grand Rapids, Michigan. In only eight days, one can hear a significant progression from the Perazzo-assisted rhythms to intentional and slowed-down  Phish funk. Parts of this jam sound like they could be plucked from a 1997 show as the band’s new direction progressed each night of November ’96.

Tenax - 2.21.1997

Winter ’97 in Europe was the final step in discovering the pocket that Phish would explore for the next few years. This show in Florence came ten days before the band’s breakthrough in Hamburg, Germany on March 1, chronicled on Slip Stitch, and Pass. This second set featured dynamic and unfinished versions of “Antelope” and “Reba,” while the first half consisted of only six songs.

I: My Soul, Foam, Down with Disease, The Lizards, Crosseyed and Painless, You Enjoy Myself*

II: Ya Mar, Run Like an Antelope** > Wilson > The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > AC/DC Bag,  Billy Breathes, Reba** > Waste, Prince Caspian

E: Character Zero

*During the “Wash Uffize Drive Me to Firenze” section of YEM, Fish exclaimed “This is a dream come true!”

** unfinished

still stunned i’m missing the sc shows. Phish really needs to check my schedule before scheduling fall tour

  6. Jtran Says:

Got the new RS today with Roger Waters on the cover. Anyone planning on hitting that show? Expensive, yes, but the last/only time to really ever see The Wall performed.

I’m too young, but is he enough of a douche that I really shouldn’t support him because of the past 30 years?

  7. c0wfunk Says:

had to turn down extras to halloween yesterday, too, on account of being too grown up and responsible.

    Crap.

  8. c0wfunk Says:

all rock stars are douches at one point or another. Go see the show if u want.

I saw Roger Waters’ DSOTM tour in 2006 and was blown away

I’ve got tix for the upcoming Wall performance in Hartford and am very psyched -the man is a perfectionist and won’t put on anything less than a fantastic performance. GO if you can

(Whether or not Waters is a douche is completely irrelevant, IMO)

  15. gratefulcub Says:

I hate being out of town and away from my play computer while everyone is seeding shows.

    Woe is me 😉

  16. voopa Says:

6/14/00 is a LP release. But there is a Schoeps pull, and a similar matrix as to the one above. I’ll explore seeds and get on if necessary, otherwise I’ll continue tomorrow.

  17. Stupendous a.k.a The Beasel Says:

HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN A SBD OF 9-15-00 or a really good aud?
I must verify with a clear source if that is my fav Piper ever or not…
    thanks

  18. voopa Says:

    gcub-

You name it, I’ll try to seed it. Whenever.

  19. vegas wolfmans Says:

Is anyone having trouble with bt.etree? When I click on the links y’all have been posting, it takes me to some page that tries to sell me shit!?! Tried typing into my address bar and the same thing happens…

Furthur in Seattle was remarkably unremarkable. I had fun, but feel pretty strongly that So Many Roads should be off limits.

    Any btetree help…

  20. sumodie Says:

hey Rolling Stone subscribers who have the Roger Waters issue

On page 10 there’s Intel ad for Smart TV. My copy has written in big block letters, “ERIC TV” (which is my name)

Does your copy have ‘Your Name’ TV instead?

Has magazine publishing become this smart?

  21. Jtran Says:

Listening to Pink Floyd for the first time in a while.

    They were very good.

  22. Jtran Says:

    @sumo

I think I got your copy here too 😉

  23. voopa Says:

    Stup-

There’s couple sources around, including a Schoeps…I’ll see what I can find.

  24. Jtran Says:

And good to see that recommendation. Just finished reading the article, I think I’m gonna have to do it.

Upper levels avail. on stubhub for 100ish each for Montreal. I think it will be worth it.

  25. Emperor Palpatine Says:

Anyone who misses the Wall tour is missing a chance to see one of the best perform one the ultimate shows ever created. I will be seeing multiple shows as with most tours done by the greats.
