Taking this week’s “Jam of the Day” theme right through “Weekend Nuggets,” this installment is all about ‘Tweezers.” This Memphis show from Summer ’95 contains the “Mud Island Tweezer,” one of the most extended and iconic explorations of the song in their career. At a time when the band continued pushing boundaries of jam-length and abstraction, this “Tweezer” clocked in at over 50 minutes, but when listening, boredom never comes into play. One of the most famous versions taboot, if you haven’t heard this, clear an hour of your time, sit back, and relax. Phish dropped one for the record books on the banks of the Mississippi.
I: Don’t You Wanna Go, Gumbo, NICU, Mound, Cavern, Possum, All Things Reconsidered, Amazing Grace*, The Horse > Silent in the Morning, Spock’s Brain, Split Open and Melt
II: 2001 > Poor Heart, Tweezer > Acoustic Army, While My Guitar Gently Weeps
E: Simple, Rocky Top, Tweezer Reprise

Type II Trivia Results: With little competition on day 2, “Rippin'” Ross Bellenoit ran away with this contest with a remarkable 26 out of 30 points! Identifying every track and only missing a couple specific dates – what I thought was most impressive is that he only missed one year out of ten. By blowing away the competition, Ross wins his choice of CD: Trey’s TAB at the Tabernacle or Mike’s Moss. Kudos, Ross! Jeff D. put in a a noble effort, nailing half the selections, while Brad P. rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11. The entire results and answers are below. (If your name is not listed, it is because you scored no points. Better luck next time.) Thanks for playing!
- Ross B. – 26 pts
- Jeff D. – 15
- Brad P. – 11
- Ethan W. – 8
- Andrew B, Lex P – tied w/4
- Dave L, Ryan B, George – tied w/3
- Dagan S, Chris – tied w/2

Morning BB. 11 22 97 video and coffee to start the day. Wish I had some bane too.
Morning BB,
Yes, da bane is a nice way to start this beautiful sunday morning in new england.
The lights are miles better now it seems
No doubt Jtran. The advances in technology alone are substantial in 13 years. That being said, just watch kuroda’s work on the Twist from 4/2/98.that’s just silly.

5/26/73
6/10/73

9/21/73
11/14/73
11/20/73
besides the ones Kayatosh suggested
Woah! I won!
I’ve definitely listened to my fair share of live Phish. I used to have a huge tape collection back in the 90s. Now i just have a giant 25 gig playlist of the best moments from almost every show. I should have caught that the Simple was from ’96 and not ’98. Page is a lot more active than he would have been in ’98, which would be much more ambient…
Palmer
Yea forgot about that UFO thing.
Just referring to Hampton I guess
maybe i’m just talking out of my ass but here’s what i think about the lights/CK5: he doesn’t seem as in sync with the band, both with time changes in composed sections as well as jamming/improv.
However, his rig has gotten sooooo much better and more sophisticated that it more than makes up for the step down in his ESP with the boys.
wish i had examples but that’s just my feeling.
Morning all. Almond harvest in the valley again today. Some serious listening time for me behind the wheel of the shaker today. Express thanks to your growers of all wonderful things this harvest moon time of year.
Can’t comment on that KP but I could see that being true. Maybe it will continue to improve just like the band.
Morning everyone.
I put together a nice comp of tasty electronic goodness for everyone last night, hope you enjoy. It is called “Faith Bassed” and features a variety of sub-genres, etc. including some wonky, house-ish stuff, dubstep, 2 step, lo-fi, electro, etc. Go get it and turn it up for real.

Looking forward in about 30 minutes to popping the cap off the first Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale to get this NFL Sunday started on a cool day in New England. Smutty probably makes the best Pumpkin Ale out there. Try it, if you can find it.

Dusty, where you at? I love the Almond harvest. We used to go glean orchards in the Central Valley a few years back.
LIONS SUPERBOWL TODAY!
Good Luck Robear 🙂
Robear FF question for you
starter at Flex: Buckhalter or Dez Bryant?
duder, too many compelling games this morning!
good question @ Palmer. I picked up Buckhalter to start for Knowshow. Do you get extra points if Dez does well in the return game? If not, go Buckhalter. Guaranteed touches.
Flacco or Ryan at QB?
Robear- gotta go with Flacco over Ryan. Ryan faces Steel Curtain. I’m actually sitting Flacco today because i think Carson is a better option this week.
Bryant gets points if he score a return TD, nothing for return yards. Not sure what to do with Buckhalter/Bryant/ or Collie for that matter. I can only start one. hmmm. leaning towards Bryant because i think Dallas is due…big time.
