Monday Morning Music

12.29.09 (Wendy Rogell)

Some beautiful music to start the week…

***

Reba” 5.16.95 – Lowell, MA

This haunting and exploratory version is one of “Reba’s” most impressive outings.

***

Slave” 11.29.95 II – Nashville, TN (w/ Bela Fleck)

A gorgeous collaboration with Bela Fleck on banjo.

Harry Hood” 11.16.96 II – Omaha, NE

A version made famous by “the note” that Trey holds for almost four minutes, this “Harry Hood” showcases a band locked, loaded and inspired during November of ’96.

Sneakin’ Sally” 8.8.98 I – Merriweather Post

Some swanky funk from the first set of Merriweather ’98.

YEM” 11.14.98 II – Cincinatti, OH

In this relative dark-horse from Fall ’98, Trey loops a rhythm pattern and narrates an expressive solo atop his own – and Phish’s – dynamic groove.

telas, are you in on the BB beach house? because that sounds like it will be a pretty fantastic time…

  2. Selector J Says:

Could be, Calpain. Never thought about it that way. Most of my tickets were got for face back then anyway so I wasn’t thinking about leverage or anything like that.

  3. jtran Says:

    GD

Always love reading your thoughts, thanks

  4. Summer98 Says:

I know I’m beating a dead horse but you folks are a great wealth of knowledge. On average, how many PTBM requests are people putting for NYE?

  5. klinkerphish Says:

    sorry…
disregard previous I even got the date wrong, wow
5-16-95 Reba had be me bust out the show from the old archives. The YEM definitely deserves honorable mention! Also, the stage banter in this show afforded by the small venues of the old days has me giddy for fall tour. What little I will catch (chucktown run)! Can’t wait!
P.S. Great morning line up miner thx!

  6. Calpain Says:

one of those things better left for the subjective memory of the mind.

The objective nature of the video/camera has burned us all at one point or another (college parties/sharpie markers/Jackass/oh yeah…facebook)

    …end rant. I’m out catch ya’ll later.

re-spun the 11.02.1998 Tube–>Drowned–>Jesus today, man that hits the spot everytime

  7. voopa Says:

I wish seatgeek had historical data available…I’d like to see how my charting of stubhub prices for Summer measures up to their seemingly more accurate tracking.

  8. tela'smuff Says:

yes sir i am. me and the wife. can’t wait! chip set shit up proper. funny, i can’t remember his username here?! that’s weird.

  9. KWL Says:

true, voopa, and i wouldn’t be surprised to learn that such databases exist…..because scalpers are in business to make money, and they don’t do it through their arbitrary hunches and the like

  10. Lycanthropist Says:

wish i coulda thrown in on that cabin.

still planning on swinging by and kickin it on the beach with the BB’ers

  11. KWL Says:

enjoy tela’s! should be another great BB time. leo knows how to do it right. nice to see the wife is going also, i seem to remember you being nervous about pitching those shows to her…?

  12. Jtran Says:

I was planning on only doing 1 entry for the NYE lotto. Karma has never been great to be with PTBMs, so I’m hoping it’ll eventually catch up?

  13. Mr.palmer Says:

Pretty sure there was an entire fall ’95 torrent on bt.etree a little while back. Can’t speak on specifics though. I love 12/7 myself.

  14. Chuck D Says:

…that shit dont smoke itself people…

    be proactive, swe

  15. tela'smuff Says:

leo – yeah. he’s the man. yeah, there was some denials from the onset, but when provided photos of beachfront lodging and the possibility of a girls night with fellow ladies who are stuck with obsessed middle-aged Phishheads, she was sold.

  16. Mr. Completely Says:

    right Palmer

so far every show I’ve heard has something worth checking out at minimum

it’s just the cource quality I’m looking for recommendations on

I’ll listen to any ’95 show that sounds clean

  17. KWL Says:

llfa @ telas. that is freakin awesome

  18. Gavinsdad Says:

Leo W really does know how to do things right. Kind host, good soul.

…speaking of tickets….hadn’t had the Fall OR nye run chat with the wife. Wanted to do it when we got home from our trip. Walked into the house moments ago to her holding an envelope of PTBMs. Can you say BUSTED??? man oh man I gots some splainin to do. She said “we can talk later about this”…wheeee!

  19. Jtran Says:

Hope it wasn’t my tickets that busted you GD llfa 🙂

  20. Mr.Palmer Says:

PTBM tickets? they are starting to come i guess, cool

  21. KWL Says:

    good luck GD 😉

    later folks

  22. voopa Says:

Overheard at Phish GF/wives’ night out:

“Every other month it’s like, ‘Hi honey, Phish announced new dates today! How was your day?'”

“The other night I asked if we could listen to DMB or Indigo Girls instead. He didn’t say anything.”

“Now he says he needs twice the storage space because the ‘soundsboards’ are in 3D. Or HD. Or something.”

  23. tela'smuff Says:

    GD – ouch.

  24. Phamily Berzerker Says:

    LLFA @ Voopa

  25. Gavinsdad Says:
