Monday Morning Music

12.29.09 (Wendy Rogell)

Some beautiful music to start the week…

***

Reba” 5.16.95 – Lowell, MA

This haunting and exploratory version is one of “Reba’s” most impressive outings.

***

Slave” 11.29.95 II – Nashville, TN (w/ Bela Fleck)

A gorgeous collaboration with Bela Fleck on banjo.

Harry Hood” 11.16.96 II – Omaha, NE

A version made famous by “the note” that Trey holds for almost four minutes, this “Harry Hood” showcases a band locked, loaded and inspired during November of ’96.

Sneakin’ Sally” 8.8.98 I – Merriweather Post

Some swanky funk from the first set of Merriweather ’98.

YEM” 11.14.98 II – Cincinatti, OH

In this relative dark-horse from Fall ’98, Trey loops a rhythm pattern and narrates an expressive solo atop his own – and Phish’s – dynamic groove.

    Bears Win

    Mark It 8 dude.

And yeah you do like the Bills!!!

    😉

  2. Lycanthropist Says:

do i have to turn in my phan card if I say that Hood is pretty low on my list of favorite songs?

  3. negev79 Says:

Morning BB! Happy Monday. Three day week for me, I’m headed to Colorado on Thurs with my SMF to see the Georgia Bulldogs hopefully win a game. Much work to do in the next three days, of course. But I’m getting really excited about Halloween!

    Have a good one.

  4. SillyWilly Says:

Harry Hoods like todays are great medicine for whatever maybe ailing you.

in my case: massive autumn sinus pressure.

“the note” contains electric code language that enters my aural paths and tells my sinus cavities to chill out and stop swelling.

  5. EL Duderino Says:

I’m not sure the Georgia Bulldogs will win a game this year negev

  6. Lycanthropist Says:

although @silly is making me rethink my position 😉

don’t hate Hood by any means.. but there are many other songs that I would want to hear before Hood.

But I am one who can’t get enough of the dark side of Phish, so take it FWIW.

  7. negev79 Says:

@el dude – believe me, I know. Much swearing and consternation in my house this weekend, and it wasn’t coming from me or the cats. The topic du jour for the Colorado trip (we’re meeting a bunch of his college friends there) is whether or not Richt should be fired.

  8. SillyWilly Says:

    @Lycan

Evil Tweezers are medicine for anxiety. They grind shit out your brain.

See, I got a remedy for everything.

  9. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

But I am one who can’t get enough of the dark side of Phish

so you’re the guy I’ve seen at shows wearing black on the outside because that’s how he feels on the inside. I’ll assume you are part of the goth subset of phanners. 😉

sadly, a google images search for “goth phish” returned nothing of a humorous nature.

  10. Robear Says:

how many ‘Hoods’ has he seen live?

  11. joemeg Says:

“Quick question: I think my wife’s name is secondary on my credit card. If I make an order with that card, and then she puts in an order with a different card in her name (without my name anywhere on it), could we get DQ’d because her name is also attached to card #1?”

Me and my wife have the exact same situation and have put in orders every time, and both gotten tickets more than once. I got Halloween this time. She got Manchester, but I guess most people got Manchester.

  12. SillyWilly Says:

Slave is also one of my favorite songs, and this one with Bela is shooting to the top of my list.

I am not a big fan of Phish sit-ins, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Bela sit-in one time again.

  13. Lycanthropist Says:

    lol @ t3

the funny thing is that i have a pretty bright and optimistic personality most of the time. But musically i am drawn to dark psychedelia and twisted dissonance.

see my love for Radiohead, Floyd, MMW, etc

  14. SillyWilly Says:

    @Joemeg

Thanks for keeping that japan 2000 seed up.

I’ve got maybe 20 hours left.

  15. Lycanthropist Says:

seen two hoods i believe but i have only seen 8 shows so….

  16. Guyute711 Says:

Looks like we are going to have a close one Robear. I’m not going to be happy if I lose when I currently have the most points in the league this week.

  17. Mitch Says:

robear, may have this current apartment long enough to be an awesome host one more time. trying to talk to the landlord today. next apartment may not be up to the standards you’ve come to expect at “Le Parker Mitchell”

  18. Dr. Pronoia Says:

    Thanks Joemeg!

  19. DukeOfLizards Says:

Yeah, it’s scientifically impossible to listen to Hood and not be better off in some way than when you started. While it’s generally accepted that you can feel good about Hood, in a strange way, I think Hood also feels good about you.

  20. SillyWilly Says:

    Awesome post, Duke.

I want to buy one of those little Harry Hood figurines from the actual dairy company.

I think I read somewhere that the company estimates that 15% of their profit actually comes from Phish kids buying theuir stuff for the logo.

  21. sumodie Says:

    @dr P:
my guess is ptbm only filters by the personal info you provide , not by requsting more info from the CC companies, if they can even ask for such info

  22. SillyWilly Says:

maybe that was just their commodity department.

because it seems the actual dairy is pretty big.

  23. Robear Says:

g711, I’ve been drafting Keller for the last 2 years for FFB. This week, he kicks my ass.

Jets look really good this year.

  24. joemeg Says:

No problem Silly. I was working at home and having some computer issues last week, so it was going slower. Now that you’re in the homestretch, and I’m back in the office it should go faster, hopefully.

  25. BingosBrother Says:

“in my case: massive autumn sinus pressure”

I feel you Silly. i’ve had a sinus headache going on 12 days now. Pretty sure I’ve tried everything, but willing to take any suggestions from this knowledgeable board. Like Groundhog Day in my skull.
