A Festi Set
Amounting to an extended warm up for fall tour, Phish played the ultimate festival set in Austin last night that featured a smattering of songs and little creative improv. Staying wholly within the box for the indie festival, the only surprise came in the middle of “Harry Hood’s” jam when the band smoothly segued into “Light” – the biggest and brightest piece in their repertoire right now. But for the first time in memory, Phish didn’t jam the song, ending with its lyrical refrain. This represented the unifying theme of the band’s Austin appearance – no jams. Sounding perfectly proficient the entire night, particularly strong playing came in “Chalk Dust,” “Rock and Roll > 2001,” and “Harry Hood,” but all in all, this was a big pay day for the band and not much else. While I’m sure they had fun headlining a major festival, Phish played the most straight forward show possible with no risks whatsoever, making the night a non-factor for the many fans who didn’t attend – including myself. Even Phish didn’t list Austin City Limits as part of their Fall Tour on their website, because tour starts for real on Sunday. Broomfield awaits…

Last nights show looks pretty sick on paper. Wonder how the Set 2 jams played out. YOU can get a little taste of “My Problem” at LivePhish:

Sounds kinda catchy, but it’s a short sample.

went to bed last night (no streaming) thinking that I’m content to just hit the couple shows I’m doing and that’s it’s going to be ok to miss AC, but woke up this morning, turned on the hoodstream (nice aud, at least for me) and now am trying to figure out ways to clear some of my work weekends…damn you and your face melting goodness Phish!

@TypeIII

@ T3
Too funny that you link to that ICP article. I just noticed that they are coming to my town this week. Kinda want to go sit in my car and check out the pre-show spectacle.
“Fuckin magnets, how do they work?” – miracles indeed.
That’s as far as I got in that article.
Remember, you don’t have to nail the answer, closest wins. Certainly wasn’t gonna ask what my eldest sons name is 😉
morning all – looks like a good one last night…
wow. last night’s show looks hot on paper. Will check out an Aud. later today.
I personally had a crazy, crazy night. Spent the bulk of the night in the ER after checking in at 10:45PM with a suspected heart problem. Been having some lightheadedness, dizzyness, anxiety, chest discomfort, arm tingles since Thursday morn. and especially on Saturday after revisiting the bane Sat. afternoon (took Fri. off). Slept maybe 2 hours on Saturday night, tossin and turnin. would shift form belly to back and get crazy spins.
Toughed it out Sunday and again had trouble settling down Sun. night for sleep. Got out of bed, felt really weird, and decided that i better go see what’s up with my heart.
After laying in a gurney for 4.5 hrs. with O2 hooked up to my nose and moinitors on my chest and arm thinking I might be headed under the knife, finally learned that I’m fine. EKG (got that one on the way in), blood pressure, blood work — all normal. no signs of heart damage or trauma. What a trip in that ER.
Turns out I was dehydrated (get a gaterade the doc. told me) and probably experiencing manifestations of stress and a little wear and tear from vapin.
Walked out of the ER at around 3 AM with a new appreciation for life and my family. My dad never got that chance.
Needless to say I will be treating myself extremely gently going fwd.. AC at the end of the month will be a much needed vacation.
Moral: Nothing should be taken for granted. Life is precious. Enjoy each moment. And watch that stress.
I wish that was one of the questions. I know that one GDAD. WTF???
Drinks some fluids Kaya!
Glad you’re OK

Glad your alright kaya, you’re a good egg.
“Have you ever stood next to an elephant, my friend?” asks Violent J. “A fucking elephant is a miracle. If people can’t see a fucking miracle in a fucking elephant, then life must suck for them, because an elephant is a fucking miracle. So is a giraffe.”
wow kaya – glad you came out of that OK
Certainly wasn’t gonna ask what my eldest sons name is

@kaya
