An Invite By Mike

"The Mossery" Invite

Ever the iconoclast, Mike Gordon has announced an out-of-the-ordinary mid-tour event coming up next Monday, October 18, in New York City. While Phish takes two days off between Charleston and Augusta, Mike will celebrate the release of his new album, Moss, with a participatory party in New York. Mike won’t be playing a usual show, but hosting a free event asking audience members to join him on stage jam for jam sessions with intruments to be provided. If you are driving from South Carolina to Maine, this might be the perfect pit stop, or if you’re in New York, head down to Bleeker Street and share this special night with Mike. Details from his website are below:
You’re invited to “The Mossery,” a free-form musical event on the eve of the release of Mike Gordon’s new studio album, Moss. The event will take place at a fully transformed Kenny’s Castaway on Monday, October 18th in New York City. There’s no cost to get in and you can come, explore and leave as you please. Guests will have the chance to pick up Mike’s new album which hits stores on Tuesday.
Attendees will have the opportunity to play along, with Mike on bass. We supply the instruments and mikes and you show up. We can’t guarantee that everyone will get to (it’s first come, first served), but we’ll rotate as many willing participants through as possible, because a rolling stone gathers no moss.
The first half of the event will start at 7:30pm and continue through 9:00pm, at which point we’ll rotate out all folks, making room for the next flock of people. The second half of the event, with all new participants, will begin at 9:30pm and continue through 11:00pm.

Side note – I may not be the most regular poster, but I would like to thank the BB for being my favorite corner of the interwebs.

Now, how about that Sand call?

Jdiggitydogg-I urged you to include as part of your Summer ’09 listening fiesta. If you haven’t heard the shows from SPAC ’04…run don’t walk.

The expression “face-melting” gets thrown around pretty liberally, but those shows (esp. 6/19) will actually melt your face off.

  5. vegas wolfmans Says:

Are there still any streams up?

  6. Jtran Says:

I was referring to the “set list” or songs they know how to play list.

I did add taht to my list of 2009, and know the SPAC show well. My first LP purchase actually

Jtran- It is on the list! Being wrong never felt so right:

  9. Jtran Says:

Excellent! I really do think that’s gonna drop sometime this fall in one of the smaller venues for maximum effect.

  10. vegas wolfmans Says:

Perhaps. That’s what people were screaming all last fall and then again last summer. I hope so. For what it’s worth, I’d also really like a 20 yrs later to go deep. Seems like it’s on the cusp if the version from Camden last summer is any indication. Love that shit…

^the back half of 20yrs reminds me of ASIHTOS.

  19. Oldskool Says:

Abrupt and Caspian are two of my least favorite Phish words, together oh boy… 😉

  20. DukeOfLizards Says:

No judging via setlist. This is 3.1 we’re talking about.

  21. Jtran Says:

No judging here, just commenting. Always make my real comments after I actually listen.

Still looked like a 13 min DWD, good time for 3.0

13 or 17 are the money spots

  22. kenny powers Says:

Good point Duke. After all I really do like Caspian. Some opportunity for Majestic Trey. See 6/6/09 and Miami last year.

  23. kenny powers Says:

    shit’s about to blow up.

It comforts me to know El Dude at al are raging in there

  24. DukeOfLizards Says:

FWIW, the first time I heard Caspian was at the end of my first spin through Billy Breathes. The perfect peak to a great album.

Let’s just say I’m not exactly on the Fuckerpants train.

  25. kenny powers Says:

Motherfucker that’s two songs left on the bench tonight
