An Invite By Mike

"The Mossery" Invite

Ever the iconoclast, Mike Gordon has announced an out-of-the-ordinary mid-tour event coming up next Monday, October 18, in New York City. While Phish takes two days off between Charleston and Augusta, Mike will celebrate the release of his new album, Moss, with a participatory party in New York. Mike won’t be playing a usual show, but hosting a free event asking audience members to join him on stage jam for jam sessions with intruments to be provided. If you are driving from South Carolina to Maine, this might be the perfect pit stop, or if you’re in New York, head down to Bleeker Street and share this special night with Mike. Details from his website are below:
You’re invited to “The Mossery,” a free-form musical event on the eve of the release of Mike Gordon’s new studio album, Moss. The event will take place at a fully transformed Kenny’s Castaway on Monday, October 18th in New York City. There’s no cost to get in and you can come, explore and leave as you please. Guests will have the chance to pick up Mike’s new album which hits stores on Tuesday.
Attendees will have the opportunity to play along, with Mike on bass. We supply the instruments and mikes and you show up. We can’t guarantee that everyone will get to (it’s first come, first served), but we’ll rotate as many willing participants through as possible, because a rolling stone gathers no moss.
The first half of the event will start at 7:30pm and continue through 9:00pm, at which point we’ll rotate out all folks, making room for the next flock of people. The second half of the event, with all new participants, will begin at 9:30pm and continue through 11:00pm.

    Mexican Cousin…first in 3.0?
    I wouldn’t know.

  2. Selector J Says:

10-29-96 = the very next show after their last visit to N. Chs Coliseum on 10-27-96

  3. monsterpus Says:

Ugh. I can’t even mess with the streams. I’ll just listen to it on the live Phish app tomorrow

  4. Selector J Says:

    Mexican Cousin:
    Had to check as well…

Played it in Charlotte this past summer and Hampton night 2 in 3.0

  5. monsterpus Says:

Can’t believe the Rangers blew that lead. I’m torn on that series. It’d be more exciting here in NY if the Yanks win, but it’s hard for me to root for them (via being a Met fan, hating the Yanks)

  6. halcyon Says:

    YANKEES!

  7. Selector J Says:

Really wish I hadn’t run out of Tequila last week…
Could go for a little Anejo right about now.

  8. kenny powers Says:

    Aha I thought 12.30.93 had a Mikes – Horse.

WTF is up with peeps hitting Page in the dome w/ glowsticks.

  9. kenny powers Says:

I always root for any team that hasn’t made the playoffs.

  10. neemor Says:

    ^ Underdog rooter

I like to throw glowsticks right at Page.

Also, the Summer of ’89 refrain, “and we danced all night” makes me happy.

  11. monsterpus Says:

Me too, if I don’t really care, I always go for the underdog. Don’t get picked off 1st, don’t hit Page in the head with a glowstick

  12. Selector J Says:

re: glowsticks to Page’s shiny dome:

    Maybe it’s Dr. Jack?
    Tough love.

  13. kenny powers Says:

My pea-sized bladder totally makes me need to jibboo.

  14. kenny powers Says:

  16. Gavinsdad Says:

    “Maybe it’s Dr. Jack?
    Tough love.”

    Good stuff.

10/29/96 is a fierce show- First with Karl P. Which reminds me, anyone got Coral Sky yet? Mine has shipped.

  18. DukeOfLizards Says:

Alright, pholks. Off to search for some Mound, since lord knows Phish won’t provide it.

    Stay classy, BB.

  19. monsterpus Says:

A lot of my favs tonight. I know we don’t judge by setlist, but they’d have to massacre these songs to ruin it for me. Somehow, I don’t think that’s happening

  20. monsterpus Says:

Good luck, Duke. Lot’s o’ mound in this here city

  21. neemor Says:

    “Maybe it’s Dr. Jack?
    Tough love.”
    ^ pffft

Must say, what a sweet looking setlist.
    I hope that:
    a) Buffalo Bill, Roses come North
    b) that’s not the last Gin we see this tour
    c) The monster Twist that they’ve been practicing for drops at UMass and we walk out changed people
    d) Punch shows up to start a second set because, as usual, PYITE begets bomb shows
    e) I get my first Harpua this Autumn on 10/29

  22. monsterpus Says:

gonna sign off and watch a movie with the lady. night all, have a good weekend

  23. neemor Says:

I am now in search of Lifeboy.
    And Harpua.
But Lifeboy will make me cry.

  24. Selector J Says:

Phish needs to encore with Day Man.

    “Fighter of the Night Man…”

Maybe they’re saving that for the next show at Wachovia, tho.

  25. kenny powers Says:

VW – mine hasn’t shipped but that’s probably b/c I ordered mine via Amazon.
