An Invite By Mike

"The Mossery" Invite

Ever the iconoclast, Mike Gordon has announced an out-of-the-ordinary mid-tour event coming up next Monday, October 18, in New York City. While Phish takes two days off between Charleston and Augusta, Mike will celebrate the release of his new album, Moss, with a participatory party in New York. Mike won’t be playing a usual show, but hosting a free event asking audience members to join him on stage jam for jam sessions with intruments to be provided. If you are driving from South Carolina to Maine, this might be the perfect pit stop, or if you’re in New York, head down to Bleeker Street and share this special night with Mike. Details from his website are below:
You’re invited to “The Mossery,” a free-form musical event on the eve of the release of Mike Gordon’s new studio album, Moss. The event will take place at a fully transformed Kenny’s Castaway on Monday, October 18th in New York City. There’s no cost to get in and you can come, explore and leave as you please. Guests will have the chance to pick up Mike’s new album which hits stores on Tuesday.
Attendees will have the opportunity to play along, with Mike on bass. We supply the instruments and mikes and you show up. We can’t guarantee that everyone will get to (it’s first come, first served), but we’ll rotate as many willing participants through as possible, because a rolling stone gathers no moss.
The first half of the event will start at 7:30pm and continue through 9:00pm, at which point we’ll rotate out all folks, making room for the next flock of people. The second half of the event, with all new participants, will begin at 9:30pm and continue through 11:00pm.

    song count is unreal
    28.5* before the encore.

(horse = 0.5 songs in my book)

  5. neemor Says:

Alright, in the tradition of calling one huge bust-out per tour (see: Demand ’09), I want to make a prediction.
This Fall, ‘In A Hole’ will be played for the first time since 1989.

    stamp’d

  6. nagarjuna Says:

why does 3.0 play so many songs per set? seriously.

  7. neemor Says:

    llfa, hal…
I think that’s EXACTLY how the meet-up went.
“Leo, where’d you get a grenade?”

FWIW, no way Horse is .5 of a song.
    C’mon now…

  8. nagarjuna Says:

@dayman – agree livephish app is $. i don’t think many people take advantage of it yet.

  9. Selector J Says:

Why is Lifeboy such an amazing song? Many reasons. If you don’t like that tune, may be time to find a different favorite band.

    ^that Demand call was spectacular.

  11. neemor Says:

nagarjuna, it’s because Phish is no longer a “jam band”.
    Oh, well.
    TechnoViking likes it.
He will even show you how to dance to this “new Phish”…

BTW- Somebody called PYITE opener tonight. Oh wait. That was me.

Scofield Piety Street with the NOLA allstars is a fantastic album. Reminds me of church (in a good way).

  16. Selector J Says:

    Night all.

  21. nagarjuna Says:

    hilarious neemor.

    oh well indeed.

i want to be in TV’s little parade

  22. vegas wolfmans Says:

In a very non-cynical way, I do wonder if it was good show. That is A LOT of songs to squeeze into two sets. I’m all for “musical density”, but sure like it when they let things breathe/stretch out/develop. Seems like there is a happy medium they were hitting at AV/JB in Leg 2.

    A good night to all…

  23. Selector J Says:

I’m gonna pack it in, too.

    Good night, folks.

    ::hums Day Man to himself::

I’m living in a world of darkness

    Hey BB

Just saw Evil Dead: The Musical with some friends tonight. Great musical, very funny. Fun night.

Interesting looking setlist – was Mike’s/Roses/Tube jammed? Seems like a pretty atypical night songwise

  25. thedayman Says:

haha night man, no pun intended hahah
