Type II Trivia: The Modern Era
Come one, come all! If you’ve been paying attention for the past couple years, you’ll have as good of a shot at this contest as anyone. Today’s main event is “Type II Trivia: 3.0 Style.” That’s right, all ten audio clips come from this era since Phish returned in 2009. Nobody can claim noobership in this contest, as most of you have all these jams stashed away in soundboard quality on your hard drives and iPods…but can you place them? You can earn a total of twenty points for this contest by naming the song and date (1 point each) of each two-minute audio clip. In the event of a tie, I will devise some sort of tiebreaker. Hopefully this contest will shine a light on some highlights and forgotten moments of the last two years. There are no repeats of songs. Please email your entries to me by 12 pm Pacific tonight to have a valid entry. The winner will be announced either tomorrow or Thursday and will have the choice of any piece of merch on-sale for $7.77 in Phish’s Dry Goods Seven Below Sale, including CDs, t-shirts and more. Good luck to all, and have fun!

bunch of slackers in this class. feels like summer school
Providence Light rips.
both @ Dude. 1 point for song, 1 point for date
I have listened to every important 3.0 jam at some point. And can’t place most of these. Phish playing new music regularly+exponentialy increased shit on plate+sucking at pop quizes=my problem right there.
I just can’t listen to Phish 24/7 anymore @ this age…
Dude needs breaks man
Sorry Miner – llfa
I tried. Possibly failed, but it happens
I am simply not a student of the band like many. Love em, but that level of detail is beyond me. I leave this type of exercise to the real live catalog pros.
I knew i was gonna get a slap. Will try to substantiate my japan twist ’00 thoughts tomorrow. Trust me Ive dug it in the past, tonite something struck me as slightly Janky about it. I think that’s one lousy thing about some sbds…they separate the instruments sometimes.
Janky is one top notch word.
aight, i got this trivia owned
and now that i opened my mouth, i’ll get them all wrong
@jdub My just turned-2-year old this morning confessed “daddy, i like the phish band”. take that mommy.
i can’t place most of these jams either, not even gonna try. a testament to just how many good moments there have been, especially these past 6 months; there’s barely time to digest all the good jams two or three times through, let alone play them enough so they burn a permanent track in your brain.
wish i was hitting MSG but I’m more than happy to have my floor seats lined up for two nights at the Centrum. that place has never disappointed me. I’m feeling my long-sought Peaches…. have a 1 section 105, Row B (PTBM) for 12/28 is anyone is looking.
This shit is so tough
I have listened to tons of Pipers and DWDs trying to place this one bit.
Right now I am lookin pretty weak.
@gavinsdad I actually feel you on the Fukuoka Twist.. listened to it recently and it didn’t connect nearly as well as it did 10 years ago. as far as overseas Twists go, 7/5/97 is a doozy that’s worth you time. otherwise give me 12/6/97 or 6/20/04.
type II trivia winds me right up -time to go spin a full phish jam and chill out 8)
wait what I look away for a second and the Fukoka Twist is in question??
what the hell is happening?
I know I got 6 of those jams correct regardless – so I’m happy. Better than the zero I got on the last Type II trivia I attempted. I don’t think I won, but I think I may have gotten second/third place.
Fukoka Twist sucks. 2000/06/14 sucks. It’s all about 2004/08/15 over here.
😉
All I know is that damn quiz has got me geekin out to Wantagh again.
ok i cant do this anymore
i have so many trey licks jumbled around my head..
I got 5 songs and 3 dates…
not very good
OK, I have submitted a guess for each one, but I can safely say I only have one as a lock.
The contest makes this long time phan feel like a custy n00b.
-Aqua “waaaaaaaa”-
@ Miner
we’re here; I love the clips, just suck way too much at guessing them. I’m about to have first bane of the day and give it a good ol college try right now though.
BTW, go blackhawks.
7 to 4. 3:00 to go in the 3rd.
Nice win.
Miner makin us do our homework
my dog ate mine
pluggin in the hard drive where I obselete’d the majority of my ’09
Lumpy!
BB bane break.
Back in five.
Doesn’t that just sound wrong?
“…where I obselete’d the majority of my ’09…”
But, given the quality of 2010….makes sense.
-Aqua-
the two minutes makes it tough
and for most of em Miner starts the jam after all/most of the flavor of the song is gone
Yeah no offense to 09…was lovin it at the time but there are only a few that don’t have several victorious replacements. (given the limited laptop space)
