Type II Trivia: The Modern Era

10.31.10 Graham Lucas)

Come one, come all! If you’ve been paying attention for the past couple years, you’ll have as good of a shot at this contest as anyone. Today’s main event is “Type II Trivia: 3.0 Style.” That’s right, all ten audio clips come from this era since Phish returned in 2009. Nobody can claim noobership in this contest, as most of you have all these jams stashed away in soundboard quality on your hard drives and iPods…but can you place them? You can earn a total of twenty points for this contest by naming the song and date (1 point each) of each two-minute audio clip. In the event of a tie, I will devise some sort of tiebreaker. Hopefully this contest will shine a light on some highlights and forgotten moments of the last two years. There are no repeats of songs. Please email your entries to me by 12 pm Pacific tonight to have a valid entry. The winner will be announced either tomorrow or Thursday and will have the choice of any piece of merch on-sale for $7.77 in Phish’s Dry Goods Seven Below Sale, including CDs, t-shirts and more. Good luck to all, and have fun!

  3. Mr.Palmer Says:

Winner of the contest gets a ” Shake Weight” ?

.. those commercials are too much. hysterical. Too bad they removed the women from them all.

  4. ThePigSong Says:

Hey Folks, long time no post (well, relatively)

My buddy needs an extra NYE – I have two 300s and a 67 + cash for an extra 12/31

    thepigsong at gmail . com

    thank ya 🙂

  5. joe Says:

where do I turn in the merit badges? awesome jams, though. clueless on their origins however.

  6. Mr.Miner Says:

come on peeps. these aren’t dark horse selections.

  7. BrandonKayda Says:

I’m thinking I got 12-14 points on the type II trivia – not bad, not necessarily good though..

  8. joe Says:

also, very nice editing job of isolating the type II. once again, proof positive that Mr. Miner is a cut above.

  9. lumpyhead Says:

    ^ Agreed.

  10. KWL Says:

i think i’m at about 12 points. but i always think i’ve done better than i actually have. #3 is killing me. i mean, i feel like i’ve heard that section a thousand times but i just can’t nail the thing down.

  11. KWL Says:

however, with a shake weight on the line, i will now cancel my evening plans, put down this work, and double down my efforts

  12. Chuck D Says:

if there was any sort of guarantee that i would eventually be able to dunk like blake griffin, i’d use a shake weight more than i smoke weed.

  13. jtran Says:

Cant wait to play when I get home

  14. KWL Says:

    with a shake weight?

  15. Mr.Palmer Says:

everything is more enjoyable with a shake weight. Perfect holiday gift for that special someone.

  16. Selector J Says:

I used up all my 1st class bandwidth this week so I can’t even stream these without mucho de bufferosa. You guys got lucky… this time!

Pft… who am I kidding. If BK struggled with 4, I’d struggle with at least 9. Okay, 10.

That Gimme Shelter link is crazy awesome. (Not that I could stream those very well either…. 🙁 Can’t wait to check it at the homestead. One of my pipe dreams is to start a record company that releases everything in adjustable multi-track. How cool would that be? What if Phish released sbds like that? Wasn’t there a tent at Indio that let you master your own?

  17. Mr.Miner Says:

    kwl…give it a go, buddy.

  18. Mr.Palmer Says:

This could be a decent spot for a MSG meetup. 2 blocks from MSG. Was here before one of the shows last year. Turn off all the sports on the flat screens and crank Phish DVDs. ( I think it was Brooklyn last year). Tremendous beer selection.

  19. lumpyhead Says:

important question….what exactly would it take to get from newark to Manhattan?

    how long would it take?

  20. Lycanthropist Says:

I want to give these a proper listen…

but i can’t stream them here at work or at home.

I can get like 5 secs of each stream at home but that aint gonna cut it.

I also know that it has been a while since I listened to ’09 and I am afraid that is gonna kill me.

I am gonna find a way to listen to these when I get off work dammit

I want to at least put in an entry.

  21. Mr.Palmer Says:

lumpy- 25-35 minutes i would guess.

  22. voopa Says:

Wasn’t there a tent at Indio that let you master your own?

Yes, there was. Didn’t check it myself, but one of the regulars here at the time posted his remix of the RR SOAM. Pretty neat.

  23. Mr.Palmer Says:

    ^^by train

  24. sumodie Says:

^ I think it was kenny P who uploaded his remix made at the F8 remaster tent

  25. lumpyhead Says:

Guys….Since the lottery results came back I’ve been unquestionably NOT going to New years….

Today I just found out that I AM GOING TO FUCKING MSG. So, you all know what I’m going through….
