Phish Power (Pollock)

The second of Summer ’97 brought six debuts after the tour opener featured seven new originals. These shows in Dublin started a long road of Summer ’97 that ended in Limestone, Maine at The Great Went. Over the course of months, Phish would transform a completely different band and a powerhouse of groove. This one goes out to Daniel via reader request.

I: Down with Disease, NICU, Dirt*, Talk, My Soul, Cars Trucks Buses, Limb By Limb, Bye Bye Foot*, Free, Prince Caspian

II: Twist*, Piper*, Saw It Again*, Waking Up*, Dogs Stole Things, Waste, David Bowie, Cavern

E: When the Circus Comes, Rocky Top

Happy December! Lets get this show on the road.

  2. BrandonKayda Says:

I had #1 right the first time – 12/5/09 Light – then I changed it. Same with #6 – I had the jam correct, and I knew it was 10/30, but I put 10/31. Damn it. 😛

  3. BrandonKayda Says:

But even if I did get those, it still would’ve only gotten me to 2nd place/a tie if I was lucky

  4. BrandonKayda Says:

    Anyhow, congrats KWL! 😀

  5. ZasdertUltun Says:

Way to go KWL! And not that it matters since I list anyway, but I got a whopping 7 points! Dang KWL, way to be. That was tough IMO.

  11. Jtran Says:

Love when these quizzes remind me of great jams I haven’t heard in a while/new ones I need to listen to.

    Thanks Mr. M

  12. Jtran Says:

    And congrats KWL!

Also props to Miner for posting CustyBear’s 0 score 🙂

  13. Mitch Says:

That was the first time I tried the trivia. Buddy and I baned and played a lot of tunes. Got us to dive back into a lot of 3.0 which seems to be the point. What I found funny is that 2 of the ones I left out, I knew were in the running and couldn’t remember what number to go back to. (Albany ghost and jones number line) it’s like playing memory. You remember hearing something similar after playing the track but then don’t know which to go back to. That and the dwd and rnr jams sounded very similar to me.

Next time I’ll take better notes as reference points. I did like that a lot of the most talked about jams were left out cause they were too easy to spot. A lot of these sounded really familiar in my book and that’s what made it a challenge.

  14. Mitch Says:

And yeah I cracked up at custybear also. Is that robears ugly cousin?

  15. jdub Says:

Way to knock em dead kdubs. Figures there was a lot of ’09 on there.

KWL wasn’t kidding when he said he knew 5 of them.

looks like he meant he knew 9 of them.

  19. SillyWilly Says:

So, it’s official, this morning in a paper Im turning in for my only grade in my jurisprudence class, I wrote these lines in my introduction:

Posner’s theory suggests, in simple terms, that if you can heal the symptoms, but not affect the cause, it’s quite a bit like trying to heal a gunshot wound with gauze.

    had to do it.

  20. lumpyhead Says:

    ^ no way!

    good job BK and KWL.

  21. willowed Says:

Sounds like a great paper Silly!

  22. willowed Says:

  23. neemor Says:

Great stuff, guys…very impressive and other accoutrements.

  24. willowed Says:

I can wait to see the excitement level consistently rise throughout the days on the board. You can always see the excitement build thru the posts when new Phish is around the corner.

Revisited that 10/31 Disease this a.m. Man it was good but has so much more potential!

  25. SillyWilly Says:

maybe I can add the *ting in as a footnote.

No way he reads the footnotes anyway.
