The second of Summer ’97 brought six debuts after the tour opener featured seven new originals. Over the course of months, Phish would transform a completely different band and a powerhouse of groove. This one goes out to Daniel via reader request.

  3. sumodie Says:

While I wasn’t a fan of that 60 minute Jim, I’m kinda impressed Shapiro put something that far out on the latest Live Bait release…maybe I’ll spin it for old time’s sake

Does this mean the boys are planning to go for the long jam in woosta? A 61 minute Light?

  4. DukeOfLizards Says:

Yeah I’ve been popping in and out all day, but it’s apparently new avatar day.

  5. purplehumpbackwhale Says:

damn. this one has served me well, as long as ive been a regular poster. hafta go searching for something new now…

  6. Mitch Says:

I’m keeping the mango, go fudge yaselves

  7. purplehumpbackwhale Says:

i guess this works. google image search for purple humpback whale yielded some surprisingly relevant results that were non-phish related

  8. purplehumpbackwhale Says:

hmm it didnt change. probly takes some time. mitch lets bane soon. im out of town in 2 weeks until the new years run

  9. KfL Says:

lw, i guess i just meant that we know about all that stuff already (rendition program, civilian killings, etc), not in the specifics, but generally, that it was happening

unlike vietnam where the idea that the government was lying and doing bad things in secret was a complete shock to a lot of people (not all, of course)

agreed that the horses mouth factor is important… post-wikileaks the war mongers can’t deny all the stuff they usually deny or pretend america is so noble, etc

and also agreed that the whole episode has underscored the close relationship between the media and those in power (not to mention how right wing our major news media has become–greenwald has a good bit on wolf blitzer)

  10. Mitch Says:

Silly quoted sand in his paper? FTW

  11. Mitch Says:

There’s a KfL AND a KWL? Things are getting confusing. Kinda like M Laird at the top of the page.

Purple, seeing a friend after work to take care of business. Wanna kick it tonight?

  12. KfL Says:

mitch, i think you should get your employer to make you custom stuff with a mango on it instead of the usual piece of fruit

a mangopod would be pretty bad ass

  13. SillyWilly Says:

I haven’t turned it in yet, Mitch.

Maybe I can work a “you’re hands and feet are mangoes…” somewhere, too.

  14. KfL Says:

    M. Ladd, M. Laird. hadn’t noticed that… mitch’s lurking alter-ego

  15. gavinsdad Says:

    new avatario?

” i just meant that WE know about all that stuff already (rendition program, civilian killings, etc), not in the specifics, but generally, that it was happening”KfL

Key there is “WE” because although WE recognize it most people still don’t believe it.

Its amazing when you look in most papers the headlines read “government condemns wikileaks” and doesn’t focus on the criminal acts described in the leaks.

  17. Guyute711 Says:

Nice Silly, WE ARE UD! WE ARE UD!

  18. KfL Says:

perhaps… i guess i just think people are more cynical these days (but also more apathetic, and most dont give a shit either way)

but ya, is it greenwald who has been pointing out how the ‘news’ is little more than relaying what govt officials say? on point for sure

  19. SillyWilly Says:

    Yessir, Guyute!

  20. gavinsdad Says:

more Fukuoaka Twist listening penance on the ride home.

  21. KfL Says:

    mind baby

  22. BrandonKayda Says:

I still feel like a total idiot for putting the wrong date on that 10/30/09 Wolfman’s jam, and taking the 12/5/09 out of the “Light” on the first one.

I did look at the wikileaks actually – the bit of it I was able to get into, anyway. I was extremely surprised to find that 60% of the deaths in the Afghan war were civilians. That’s insane. Although it doesn’t say whether we are killing that many civilians or if the terrorists are killing their own people and that adds onto the total percentage of deaths. Still wild either way.

  23. Mitch Says:

Wait, who is KfL? Is that a new name?

  24. joe Says:

(but also more apathetic, and most dont give a shit either way)

    ^

I think this, unfortunately is the more accurate assesment of the situation. The loud noises heard from the foxnews and right-wing talk radio crowd can be heard because of the silence from the apathetic who care more about the gossip of the day (or those who like to spend countless hours discussing a dorky rock band from Vermont on an on-line forum 🙂 )

  25. Chuck D Says:

KWL = KfL = King fLegionnaire in honor of his modern era trivia victory
