    @KWL – congrats!

Super fun digging into all the great music over the last two years and nice to dust off some gems. Needless to say, I had forgotten how great that Wolfman’s is from Indio. Everyone do yourself a favor and listen to this one…today.

    Happy Holidays!

@Silly, very nice on slipping Phish lyrics into your paper. Somebody has got Phish on the brain.

Challenge for the day: utilize as many Phish lyrical accoutrements as possible in conversations with co workers and bosses.

  9. Calpain Says:

nice work Miner, enjoyed playing along!

Wondering if anyone has any extras for 12/28. Have checked the board but not much going on there. Thanks for the help in advance.

    Love the JOTD

A personal anecdote about the power of the Phish, in Light of the holiday season:

My sister more or less had a nervous breakdown over Thanksgiving, leaving me feeling very shook up. Coupled with upcoming deadlines and various other stressors, I found myself in quite an uncomfortable mood during the drive back to the grind in New Haven on Monday. I dialed Camden II Set II into the iPod, and my keel slowly began to even. Just after the sublime 2001, my old Volvo began to crest a hill on 95, and Phish dropped into Light. As I continued to climb the hill, Phish hit the “Light is growing brighter now” refrain, and I looked up into the sky, a perfect cerulean. Suddenly I was overcome by a feeling of overwhelming positivity, of love and warmth, a feeling that the memory of family members lost was imparting upon me a sense of love and brightness and light. I was so moved I started to cry, and after a short while removed my sunglasses and checked the rearview mirror to verify the whole experience. Never before had the transformative, celebratory, positive power of Phish’s music been so palpable, and so profoundly helpful in a time of need. Phish and the Phish community are uniquely wonderful sources of joy. Thank you Phish! Thank you for coming back! Thank you Mr. Miner! Thank you BB! Bring on Worcester!

  17. halcyon Says:

Cool story Butterfly. Recently I have been going back to that song listening, and reading its lyrics over and over. It has been therapeutic, and may it continue to bring you joy.

    Have a good day everyone!

  18. SillyWilly Says:

    Welllll, you see,

Early in the semester our professor asked us sort of rhetorically what we’d rather be doing than studying law, and without thinking I blurted out:

    “Phish tour.”

All my classmates laughed and I was branded “that pot-smoking hippie kid” who obviously can’t take his academia seriously

So this is a stealth strike with a hint of ironic revenge.

    Plagiarism? No doubt.

Would Trey mind? I would like to think not.

  19. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

“It is straight up blizzarding outside my window right now. Winter is here.”

    where? i’m still getting raiiiiin

  20. SillyWilly Says:

    That was awesome, Butterfly

    thanks a lot for sharing.

it takes some courage to share intensely deep experiences like that, but it is very appreciated.

    thank you.

  21. angryjoggerz Says:

Chicago, though I should say, I am currently in Rosemont. Damn I hate the suburbs.

  22. SillyWilly Says:

my girl works in downtown Chi.

she texted me this morning: “It’s snowing. Winter is here. A small part of me has died.”

i was wondering how her first winter in chicago was going to go over.

Snowy with a hint of salt.

  23. kayatosh Says:

this JOTD has reminded me I need to relisten to 11 and 12/2009. great stuff in there.

  24. butterflyeffect Says:

    Thank you guys

Silly, Trey is definitely all in on your covert ops

  25. Calpain Says:

@Silly your lawschool blurt out reminds me of my daily existence. I have to hide my interest in all things not of the normal and often feel like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Call me a sellout, but I do this in order to avoid being branded ‘x,y or z’ and since I have no ‘papers/exams’ to fightback and disprove that stereotype I must coast under the radar.
Glad to hear you have balls and are sticking it to the man.
    Adorno would be proud.
