Miner’s Picks – Fall 2010

10.8.10 - ACL (Graham Lucas)

I have finally listened to Fall Tour enough to be able to drop “Miner’s Picks: Fall 2010.” But there were far too many highlights, that’s my problem right there. So instead of limiting myself to one version per song on a tour that featured a fairly tight rotation, I decided to split the run into three chronological chunks and form three mini-sets of fall jams. Obviously, I could have chosen multiple versions of almost all songs, but unless their was a dire need to double up, as in the case of a song combinations (“Pipers”) or two versions I couldn’t choose between (“Ghost”), I did my best to single out my favorite versions without repeating songs. Without further ado, here are my picks. (Torrent link is at the top of the list, direct download links are at the bottom.)

I watched a video of it that was posted here a few days ago but have never seen it live – must be incredible

  2. Highway Bill Says:

    @ Mitch

Tonite we are going to see moe. at the Albany Armory.
Kickin’ it old school, I guess you could say.

I mentioned this to my friends a few days ago:

So Roger Waters has done Dark Side and The Wall tours, but the one I’d be really excited about?

    Atom Heart Mother Tour

Awwww yeah. I’d rage that for sure…

  4. butterflyeffect Says:

feel ya on the Waters trip

saw him do Dark Side in Camden a few years back, shit was epic

  5. Mr.Miner Says:

Saw dark side then, and this was way crazier of a production..still floored…probably going wed in San Jose so the wife can see it. She was previously occupied last night and it’s a must-see…great RS article about hus intent and view if this tour, obv the wall was his “autobiographical” work…anyway…if you can see it see it. Def worth whatever the absurd ticket price may be..won’t say anything else. Should truly be seen no spoilers…way more than a concert…

  6. butterflyeffect Says:

    wow sounds sick miner

glad you had a great time, too poor after the upcoming phishery to catch it personally

  7. KfL Says:

if there is a carini that deserves to be in the same universe as 2-17-97, i would love it if someone could point it out to me. thanks in advance.

  8. Mr.Palmer Says:

    12.28.98 ?

Not sure i’m too familiar with the 2.17 version, according to phish.net it is the debut as well. I’ll have to check it out. I’m sure you’ve heard that ’98 version paired with the Wolfman’s though…

  9. garretc Says:

    12.28 Carini > Wolfman’s!!!

    Hot stuff

  10. BrandonKayda Says:

2.17 Carini is weird – super funky jam in it, gets really fast if I remember right->space->slow melodic jam

  11. fatbunch Says:

Hey BB! Listening again to the Augusta Reba… there’s this little 3-second moment at 11:28 where Trey repeats that lick one more time kindof in some openness and I know that had I been in the venue at the time I would have chuckled out loud a little and said “Ahh, Hey Jerry!” to myself… 😉 Just sounds like Jerry to me right there.

  12. fatbunch Says:

^ should clarify that time stamp of 11:28 is in the SBD version…

  13. fatbunch Says:

    ^really it’s precisely at 11:30-11:32

    I know… this is supreme geekness 😉

  14. Mr.Palmer Says:

KfL…. Thanks for the push to check out that 2.17.97 Carini. Awesome. In a class by itself.

  15. Emperor Palpatine Says:

    I am Spartacus!!!

  16. sumodie Says:

@miner: glad you caught The Wall. Truly a unique musical experience

  17. Mr.Miner Says:

Great picks, Miner. No Manchester Light?!

^ If I had a clear favorite version, I chose it. If I couldn’t decide, I went with both.

  18. Mr.Miner Says:

2 Ghosts, 46s, Splits, 2001s, Carinis, Stashs, Pipers, Cities,
    but only ONE LIGHT?

    ^ see above…

also, I chose the UMass Piper, but the others got on there via song-combos I couldnt break up in Utica and Broomfield. (I suppose I could have just done the AC stash, but mullins was so hurting it needed some representation 😉 )

No offense on the picks…you guys know I love Light as much as anyone.

  19. Mr.Miner Says:

same with cities…I *chose* the AC one, but Utica gets on via its combo with my chosen wolfmans…side note, I think Fishman plays the old folks boogie shuffle beat for the Utica Wolfmans…

  20. lumpyhead Says:

    that’s true.

  21. Mr.Miner Says:

AC 46 only got on b/c combo with chosen cities…i think u guys are understanding…

Same with AC Carini, since prov is the pick…blah, blah, blah…

    the wall is psychedelia incarnate.

  22. sumodie Says:

@miner: we know you love light -just kidding around a bit. you can pick ’em any which way and you’ll still get ribbed (or worse) for what’s on the list or not

  23. sumodie Says:

    the wall is psychedelia incarnate

I caught the Hartford show and we sat behind and to the side of the enormous lighting/production station -couldn’t believe how much light was given off by all the computer stations (glad we didn’t sit directly behind them) -made ck5’s set-up look puny

  24. jdub Says:

Was the Wall worth 2 New Yesrs Run shows? One of the reasons I passed on Hartford. Probably the last tour of Floyd music with Waters. Oh well. I’ll enjoy Phish I know that much.

  25. Mr.Miner Says:

    made ck5â€ēs set-up look puny

^ made Phish concert look like a garage band
