Weekend Nuggets: Tour Finales
Our long and winding road through Decembers of lore has finally come to an end. On December 17, 1995, Lake Placid’s finale concluded a monumental 54-show fall tour whose size would never be approached again. On December 18, 1999, in Hampton, Virginia, Phish punctuated their second tour of fallย — a two-week millennial prep course for the event of their lives. In each case, Phish spun two sets of celebratory anthems, crafting upbeat shows to send their fans home for the holidays. Enjoy the final step on our journey through Decembers past, because Worcester is only nine days away!

Jams of the Weekend:
“Tweezer > Tweezer Reprise” 12.17.95 II
The final piece to the gargantuan puzzle of Fall ’95.

It’s hard to beat nearly 40 minutes of grooves to start off a set. This was the end of 1999; Y2k was upon us, and we were heading into Chief Jim Billie’s territory.

i refuse to indicate what # post this is ๐ฏ
there’s the tweezer>reprise i was lookin’ for ๐ฎ
I second that King
Don’t skip the Antelope from 12.17.95. 4th song of the night and it lit that set up. The MFMF was also a nice way to start the night in that snowbound mountain town. The Hood is my personal favourite (Trey plays a little ‘There’s a hole in my bucket, dear Liza’ tease at one point). The Tweez->Reprise is fierce.. Great memories of that show, probably one of the most enjoyable overall experiences I’ve had.
Wow, I think the split>have mercy will alway send a shudder down my spine.
12/17/99 should have gotten a write up. The opening “Piper” is one of the best, as well as other good jams.
Morining BB. Good shit today Miner. LP’s were fun.
Anybody having difficulty posting here from a smartphone (Droid 2)?
I love all the attention sand is getting lately, much deserved. I just wish I could catch one, I’ve missed the last five played by one night each time. Dec. 99 was sooooooooo much fun, I’ll never forget 5 greyhounds leaving south station all packed with kids bound for the everglades. Fun fun fun!
hellz bellz! ๐
Interesting fact about NYE 00, ck5 only had 1/3 of his lighting rig operational for the BIG set. (This is the only interesting thing I read in puterburgh’s bio.) I had no idea, never even noticed. I was pretty close to the stage too, but…. There was a lot going on that night… Like the Seminole that had obviously been dosed to the gills that wouldn’t leave me alone. He must have eaten enough LSD to make it through the last decade high as a kite. He was “that guy”.
thanks to Mr. Miner, as always, for schooling us in the ways of the jam. Even the most hardcore devotee of phish can take something away from this December seminar. (I’m more of a custy noob myself)
Anyone know of any hotels close to Wooster that still have rooms? I searched for quite a while last night, and struck out with all of them. Looking for something close enough to walk- or at worse, taxi
@jerz, Worcester is tough, I’ve had to stay in Sturbridge before for phish because everything, I mean everything, was sold out
P.S.H.S- I hear ya bro. Right now, my hotel is in Westborough. Im pretty sure that in the past, I have always stayed in Sturbridge or Westborough, but I was a lot less responsable back then, and did not mind driving impaired. I would love to stumble out of the after party right to the hotel
I know there are a lot of seedy places in woosta, you know the kind, bulletproof glass in the lobby, hourly rates, no webpage. I think it was the Sturbridge coach motor lodge I stayed at, but a 20 min ride
Mornin’ folks’
Hippie Speedball underway…
top of the mornin’ all!
duder, didn’t have a chance to mention it, but that performance in the snow last week by Tom Brady may be one of the all-time great regular season games for a QB.
onto Phish:
I had an absolute blast at the 12/18/99 show. ‘Sniffle Tour’ we called that run, b’cuz it was so darn cold, everyone had the sniffles. ‘Do You Feel’ jam in the ‘2001’.
Regarding 12/17/99: really an off-night for the band, if you ask me. The crowd was a bit TOO pumped up. I read in an interview later ( I think) that at set break on the 17th, they broke their rule of ‘Don’t talk about the previous set at set-break’.
12/17/95: Wasn’t there. I would love to be following along one of the online chats like Hoodstream, when they open the second set with ‘Bouncin’
Morning Folks!
A little treat to get you people fired up for the next 2 weeks…

and another amen to Chef Brad’s post last nite. good meeting you this Summer man…this place is an embarrassment of riches and the best by-product of 3.0. Way to go Miner…and thanks as always for the picks.
last nite was strange admittedly, but much more chill than i would have thought. nice food, nice cocktails, a block from my house. drank a touch of the bulleit bourbon on ice. as far as baning goes…i’m on a break here at the homestead as we host my mother from today (picking her up at noon) thru the 24th when my dad gets in and they head to a hotel.
enjoy your day peeps.
