Happy Holidays!

10.31.10 (Graham Lucas)

I’ll be taking some time off between now and Worcester. I’ll likely post some thoughts at some point, but probably not for a few of days. Happy Holidays to all!

In the meantime, enjoy these Worcester gems that just missed December!

It’s an utter carnage of wrapping paper and ribbons and bows around here. 3 kids will do that to a room.

Hysterically, Rose my youngest (5) still has 8 or 9 presents to unwrap. Her methods are foreign to her siblings; she opens a gift, oh look! Chocolate! [eats all the chocolate]. Opens a gift, oh look! A tea party set! [goes and gets 12 stuffed animals, hosts a 90 minute tea party]. Opens a gift, oh look! a sweater! [changes clothes into her new sweater, runs around the house making sure everyone has seen it and complimented her good taste, insists on posing for pictures.]

Mom sent me West Coast Seattle Boy, the new-ish Hendrix collection of rarities and outtakes. So far the pre-Experience sideman material is interesting from a historical perspective, the 4 tracks from the Band of Gypsies early show in Berkeley are *STRAIGHT FIRE*, the rest is all over the map. I’ve got a ways to go before I can call myself a Hendrix completist, so this release has a lot of new stuff for me. I’ll spin the DVD this evening.

If they have the Band of Gypsies material in this quality, why haven’t we gotten a release of the complete set of Berkeley shows?
