Happy Holidays!
I’ll be taking some time off between now and Worcester. I’ll likely post some thoughts at some point, but probably not for a few of days. Happy Holidays to all!
In the meantime, enjoy these Worcester gems that just missed December!

especially when you least expect it. I’ve had plently of people who come in here and talk music with who don’t know anything about phish and then this random old lady.
Sounds like you got a day Christmas party going down butter, def. gonna be better then my next 48 hours.
def going to be mellow, got my 8 year old daughter, friends casually popping in, no set eating time,
haven’t really had a party this year, was gone a lot this summer with the Phish 😉
my place is suited better for warm weather parties as i have a country property with tons of outside living space and a small house

@LW
I recently was reading something on the incidents during the recording of Trout Mask Replica. Apparently Beefheart was reading into brain-washing techniques during the time, and he essentially had all of the musicians living in fear. He would encourage them to attack one another, used a lot of negative re-reinforcement, etc. Pretty wild.
From Wikipedia:
” At various times one or another of the group members was put “in the barrel,” with Van Vliet berating him continually, sometimes for days, until the musician collapsed in tears or in total submission to Van Vliet.[4] According to John French and Bill Harkleroad these sessions often included physical violence. French described the situation as “cultlike”[5] and a visiting friend said “the environment in that house was positively Manson-esque.”[6] Their material circumstances also were dire. With no income other than welfare and contributions from relatives, the group survived on a bare subsistence diet. French recounted living on no more than a small cup of soybeans a day for a month[7] and at one point band members were arrested for shoplifting food (with Zappa bailing them out).[8] A visitor described their appearance as “cadaverous” and said that “they all looked in poor health.” Band members were restricted from leaving the house and practiced for 14 or more hours a day.”
” French writes of being punched by band members, thrown into walls, kicked, punched in the face by Beefheart hard enough to draw blood, being attacked with a sharp broomstick, and eventually of Beefheart threatening to throw him out of an upper-floor window. He admits complicity in similarly attacking his bandmates during “talks” aimed at them. In the end, after the album’s recording, French was ejected from the band by Beefheart throwing him down a set of stairs with violence, telling him to “Take a walk, man” after not responding in a desired manner to a request to “play a strawberry” on the drums. Beefheart installed a hanger-on, Jeff Bruschelle, as the new Drumbo (playing on French’s drumset) and did not include French’s name anywhere on the album credits as a player or arranger.”
swe, double on “federal” holidays
