C, ever hit the ‘Koi’ food truck in PDX?

  2. Dr. Pronoia Says:

Read back through the last 4 or 5 pages I missed.

Special, special folks on the BB.

I’ve been trying to get my head around AA lately, because more and more I see the work I do with people trying to recover from eating disorders as very similar to struggling with addiction.

Tonight’s thoughts have helped a lot. And, also, the AA 1/3rd of Infinite Jest…

Good luck getting that $$ Butterfly…that’s what the academia game is all about!

  3. jdub Says:

Tube has a striking similarity to the theme song of “Fraggle Rock”, particularly Mikes bass intro and the rhythm of the lyrics. “so stupendous, living in this tube.” has the same rhyme as “let the music play, down at fragile rock”. My wife pointed this out to me while listening to MSG Tube. I can just pictured them bake out of their minds in college watching Fraggle Rock and having an “ah ha” moment. Or it is just a silly coincidence.

    The more you know. *ting*

  4. Robear Says:

i think CDs can only have mp3s on them,

^i’m pretty sure that’s just in canada. in the good ‘ole us of a, you can burn lossless or mp3 to cd.

  7. ThePigSong Says:

Saw True Grit earlier. Great flick, a lot funnier than I expected and Jeff Bridges is on point per usual.

@Palmer- I’ve spun tago mago two and a half times since this morning. Love the begining but the last two tracks get a little too weird for me. ymmv

  8. voopa Says:

Rob- 16 bit WAV files will burn to CD

Anyone else catch that Celts/Spurs game? Phew, C’s just pulled it out at the end. Terrible officiating down the stretch. Boys look strong beating the Spurs w no KG. Rondo drops 12-22-10-6. Young buck balled out…

Keep finding gems in this run. Dig Burn that bridge for some reason. Nice little heater of a jam. The Jibboo hits hard. Even spun Waiting in Velveta based on someone here talking it up. Bute of a version. Boys just went on a tear over the run, obviously peaking on MSG 2&3

Couldn’t believe Ray missed two free throws there at the end…thought that was a bad sign for sure. nice win.

Listened to pigtail for the first time while running today. Really liked the jam- so NYE 2010 run.

Before the track changed to Alaska (assuming alaskawas next) they were playing sarah palin sound bites. Was that over the PA or did they have a little recorder on stage?

Guess I could queue up the stream but….

  20. angryjoggerz Says:

fucking gunshots outside my window. I am so over the gangbangers, such bullshit.

  21. nonoyolker Says:

Trey had a Palin quote device held up to the microphone – pretty funny stuff

Having those stream rips is priceless.

  23. angryjoggerz Says:

Pumped! I just got “Celestial Navigations: the Short Films of Al Jarnow” on DVD for christmas (numero group). If you have not checked out these animations, you should check em, really very cool, very 70’s. He did a lot of work on Sesame Street and 321 Contact, but def not for kids only.

sorry to have commented and disappeared. I actually realized after I wrote that that you were using a different interpretation of “non” secular. I sometimes get stuck in the literal meanings of things like that one due to having been a latin teacher in a former life. secular comes from a word that means “of a time” which in the christian construct (I know, I know, but remember the latin thing…) is differentiated from religion since they deemed god to be outside of time and thus things pertaining to god/religion are “non-secular”.

that said, in terms of the context you were using, I think non-secular actually works well since you appear to view humanism much in the way that I do. which is to say that, to me, humanism is rooted in finding divinity in the individual and in our connections with each other rather than to ascribe to to something outside of us. I have always used “secular” since that to me implied that humanism could be “practiced” without the need for religious structure (and thus be secular in nature). However, in your use of non-secular (and correct me if I am misunderstanding you here) I think you are interpreting secular as “not pertaining to spiritual things” and therefore non-secular makes sense as this interpretation of humanism requires that spiritual element.

I’m kind of rambling at this point I think. but I wanted to clarify that I think we are on the same page here. words get in the way of things sometimes.
