  1. Mitch Says:

    Happy bday Gavin!!

Didn’t read back @gdad. Did you back me on the lights at msg for furthur vs Phish?

  2. Robear Says:

different crowd on the 31st and 1st, from the 30th. I don’t know why, but it was noticeably different group. Same core, different outliers.

  3. Lumpyhead Says:

To me, ACL was a hot ass show

  4. Jtran Says:

Hood > Light was at ACL, right? That was pretty cool.

  5. Lumpyhead Says:

I had show talkers, some idiot gathering glowsticks during every song, lots of cell phone use all around me. Only my second indoor venue though, maybe I’m just not used to it.

  6. Lumpyhead Says:

    ^ re: crowd at msg.

  7. Little Buddy Says:

Another odd thing about the 30th was that there seemed to be very few tickets to be had compared to the other two nights. Maybe I just wasn’t paying as much attention on 31 and 1/1, but I ended up with a couple extras on the 30th bc a friend bailed last minute and gave me his tix to deal. I attempted to help the mound to meatstick ration by finding a couple young ladies to help with the tix. Seemed like I was the only one out there with any extras at all. I was attacked by ticketless dudes after they saw me deal what I had to these girls. Vultures.

  8. Little Buddy Says:

    @ Lumpy

Totally different story during fall tour at the small venues. Very attentive crowds. Utica was the best crowd I’ve seen since ’95. Everyone was hanging and boogeying on every note sweating up the joint.

  9. willowed Says:

    Miner
Olbermann is dead on right there!! That’s a great piece he put together.

    His message

    Enough already!!

  10. Gavinsdad Says:

    Thx y’all re: Gavin.

And just wanna mention that I really want the Eags to win but fully understand their deficiencies (o-line, learn how to tackle, etc). Regarding Vick, I’m all about 2nd chances and rehabilitation but I haven’t seen the percentage of repentance from a guy that did such borderline sociopathic shit (and yes I’m fully aware of how widespread dogfighting culture is). Nuff soapboxing…I’ve just been trying to keep an even keel thru this season while my city acts like a drama queen. Packers are going to be extremely tough opponents, especially seeing how stingy they are with points allowed.

  11. Robear Says:

Lumpy, welcome to the typical Phish fan @ MSG. The bands favorite place to play. LIke LB sez, you had 5000 attentive fans in Utica. Even if all those cats showed up to MSG, there’s still another 15,000 holding up their phones, and knocking you over to grab glowsticks. That’s the nice thing about new years in Miami. All Phans, even though it was a bit undersold.

    Re: Olberman commentary:

    words are powerful, timely commentary

  13. Lumpyhead Says:

I bet the Utica crowd was the illest

  14. Gavinsdad Says:

Gorge seemed rich in fan minerals too. Big time destinations seem to get that. MSG gets the NE douche influx.

  15. Robear Says:

sry new york. that was way too general. 2000 annoying people is enough to spread a bunch to every section of the garden.

  16. Gavinsdad Says:

^sez the dude from New Jersey

  17. butter Says:

crowds fine for me at MSG, just put out the cigs please

  18. Lumpyhead Says:

Yeah, the fucking cigs! When I come home from phish smelling more of cigs than of bane, bad sign.

  19. joe Says:

agree with the Olberman but blaming the palins, becks, etc. for what happened is akin to blaming ozzy for kids committing suicide or for rap music for promoting violence (or whatever it was that the pmrc against).

  20. Mr.Miner Says:

    happy birthday gdiddy!

MSG is great, but I’ll take a NYRun in Utica anytime 😉

  21. Mr.Miner Says:

@ joe. not quite man. I don’t find that accurate at all.

  22. joe Says:

at this point, I think it’s a leap to say that the shooter was influenced by a map on Palin’s website or by comments made by whoever is all. It makes a nice, tidy argument to say that it’s because of these things that a crazy dude committs a dispicable act of violence, but it doesn’t necessarily make it true. just as it makes a nice tidy arguement to say a kid killed themselves because ozzy wrote a song about suicide that they heard….

but, I do support his overall statement of condemning rhetoric that we toss around too easily.

  23. Mr.Miner Says:

i never got the shine a light encore from 12-28…can anyone sendspace that single ALAC file?

  24. butter Says:

    http://www.npr.org/2011/01/09/132779889/27-deaths-including-14-decapitated-stun-acapulco

14 decapitated in MX, don’t get in the bane game south of the border

  25. Robear Says:

i’m willing to bet the inflammatory rhetoric is way more intense behind the scenes, via email and such. just ask miner! everyone from obummer to palin has been careless with their words and actions. sad and disturbing way for a wake up call. whether it’s related or not. civil discourse in politics are long overdue.
