JotD today got me thinking – will 2011 bring:

    A. A whistling Reba ending
    B. A second Mike’s jam
    C. Both
    D. Neither

    Discuss.

  3. Spasm Waiter Says:

    ^wolfmans>sneakin

  4. lumpyhead Says:

    neither.

    Praying for B though….

  5. Spasm Waiter Says:

    A- doesn’t matter to me.
    B- matters.

  6. poop goblin Says:

I predict we will get a second MIke’s jam (couldn’t be more bored with every 3.0 version) in 2011

I also feel we will get shocked by getting a jam out of Roses, Gumbo, or Halley’s

my bet is it will be Gumbo

my dark horse picks are finally a jammed Runaway and what used to be at least once a tour jammed ya mar

could give two shits if they ever whistle for Reba.

  7. Gavinsdad Says:

Super silver – my fave taste from our trip to the ‘Dam

  8. Robear Says:

@KP, it’s around the 7:18 mark, give or take, the moments you speak of in that ‘Ghost’. love IT!

dude on Greek? SBD: ‘WHISTLE! WHISTLE!’ after the ‘Reba’.

  9. Chuck sweD Says:

here here: if the boys whistle reba, PG is gonna double dip in the poop tent! 😉

  10. Robear Says:

grenade joke. nice one @ sweD!

how’d you cats know miner wasn’t around today? cuttin’ on the Utica show like that….

  11. Mr. Palmer Says:

El Dude was at the Greek?

  12. Robear Says:

someday, the Greek ‘Light’ will be on one of those ‘leaked sbd’ type compilations of all-time great jams.

  13. vegas wolfmans Says:

“But when Kenny G decided that it was appropriate for him to defile the music of the man who is probably the greatest jazz musician that has ever lived by spewing his lame-ass, jive, pseudo bluesy, out-of-tune, noodling, wimped out, fucked up playing all over one of the great Louis’s tracks (even one of his lesser ones), he did something that I would not have imagined possible.” -Metheny

Pure gold. Thanks for posting that, waltzer.

  14. vegas wolfmans Says:

Any thoughts on how the Kevorkians sound? Particularly Greek? Worth the upgrade if already rocking lossless? Thanks.

  15. kayatosh Says:

call me what you will, but i dig the dark side 11.2.98 set, except great gig in the sky (Blech) and on the run i could skip too.

  16. kayatosh Says:

may try to sneak a vrip.

and you run and you run to catch up with the sun that is sinking

  17. vegas wolfmans Says:

kaya- What’s impressive to me about DSOTM is that they decided that afternoon they were gonna play it. No real preparation and just let it fly. Sloppy? Sure, but I admire the risk.

  18. kayatosh Says:

I don’t hear that much slop. great gig is atrocious w/ fish doing the orgasm bit, but otherwise I find myself coming back to listen to it, which means it ain’t crap.

learned it that day I don’t buy into. I ascribe to the theory that they had rehearsed it some before deciding on Loaded and the to birth a few mind babies they decided to brush up on it and bust it out on 11.2.98

  19. kayatosh Says:

jimmy. yes, dad. jimmy I have bad news. what is it, dad? it’s about your cat poster. you mean poster nutbag? . . . how bout a goldfish?

  20. vegas wolfmans Says:

I think they fooled around with it> forgot about it> played it cold after deciding on it that afternoon. Pretty sure that’s what I read in that shitty phish biography that came out a couple years ago. Either way, I agree that it makes for an interesting listen and I spin it from time to time as well. The quality of the recording I have for it is horrible. I should probably try to find an upgrade…

  21. kayatosh Says:

vegas: the most recently posted aud (new source) works well for me. check it.

“dude on Greek? SBD: ‘WHISTLE! WHISTLE!’ after the ‘Reba’.”

Haha, yeah, i think it was the greek sbd, i just noticed that for the first time a couple days ago listening in the car.

  24. poop goblin Says:

starting spinnin 8/7 remaster right now Vegas

    on AC/DC Bag

    I think they sound great

  25. kayatosh Says:

still mind blown by phish’s second hiatus — close to 5 years not playing as a band. 5 years! and they come back and make it work again. a little older, a little wiser, but still phish.

I know I returned to phish (definitely a little older, but no wiser) with a new found appreciation — as a married man, as a dad, as a veteran of partying — for the lyrical content of the more recent tunes from the Round Room album forward.
