Ten Random Rumors

Phish won’t likely announce their summer schedule until Trey finishes touring in March. Perhaps that estimate is off by a little, but it doesn’t seem that any word is coming imminently. During the off-season, I only report legitimate rumors from reliable sources. But today, just for the fun of discussion, I figured I’d throw out some of the random buzz that I’ve heard from various sources that are not my connects. Take them with a grain of salt, folks, this is more of a fun than predictive Thursday exercise.

1. Hampton for Memorial Day weekend is not happening.

2. The July 1-3 festival at Watkins Glen will end a nationwide tour that skips the Northeast.

3. Phish will play in Florida in June, specifically, West Palm Beach.

4. Phish will return to Alpharetta for multiple nights.

5. The end of tour will go Alpine > Deer Creek > Star Lake > Watkins Glen.

6. Hampton for Memorial Day weekend is happening.

7. Red Rocks – June 17 and 18

8. Phish will hit the west coast again, but to what extent is the real question. All I’ve heard is Shoreline.

9. The Gorge with DMB on Labor Day weekend. Say it ain’t so!

10. Northeast Leg II? No Leg II?

Jam of the Day:

Rock and Roll > Theme > Dog Log” 9.17.00 II

Though the latter two thirds of Merriweather’s set opening combo made it to an archives show, for some reason the best part of the trio was left out. Check out the seamless segment in full right here.

pretty sure another Plumlee isn’t going to be the answer. That said, I never thought Zoubek would anchor a nat’l championship frontcourt either.

  2. EL Duderino Says:

We went to the All-State Arena show for the Dead w/Warren…

    We fuckin’ had a blast.
Thought we caught a great night of song selections as well.
Hung with friends, drank a lot of beer and puffed tough all night (Tuesday show)… to the Blue-Line back home to the Damen Ave stop, and knocked it out’ the park.

  3. Mr.Miner Says:

nTelos rocks! great lil amphi, esp. w/ gen adm policy
    xcellent sub for the muthaship

^ though it only holds 6,500

    RE: last comments

I had a really snarky comment about a certain member of the Dead that I have ranted about before on this board. I decided to take the high road and forget it.

But for real, that “View From the Vault 1990 Three Rivers Stadium” DVD is so fucking unwatchable I threw it in the recycling bin afterward. That’s not hyperbole. It is sitting in the alley right now awaiting Waste Management’s finest to escort it to the dumper.

Worst outlay of $$$ for DVD ever.

    Phish “Tracking” is more compelling.

  5. phoammhead Says:

plumlee = too white for unc – just kiddin’ 😉

heels have obviously had some great white players in the past – jeff lebo, tyler hansbrough comes to mind

i’m not sure any of the plumlee bros will ever be considered great, but they are good, no doubt

  6. Mr.Miner Says:

scrap this acc talk….Big East is where its at, and the Hoyas are the current beasts of the east!

  7. butterflyeffect Says:

“go smoke some weed and stay the same!” – sweD

    fucking priceless

  8. Guyute711 Says:

Old news but the horns on Let it Loose from Festi 8 are awesome!!!

  9. EL Duderino Says:

” though it only holds 6,500″-Miner

    Even better reason to go.

I’m for checking other venues and cities out and have always done this every year.

  10. Selector J Says:

@phoam Duke can have all the Plumlees it wants.

btw, I have it on medium authority that Bruce Hornsby’s kid is gonna be playing ball at UNC-A for the “Headies.” He started last year at the 2 spot for Oak Hill Academy. Not a bad player at all. Not a lot of D-1 interest, though. Keep your eyes out for Bruuuuuce.

  11. Mr. Palmer Says:

phoam- i’ll be watching. Hopefully get the kids to sleep early so i don’t miss too much. Although i’m not sure if its audio only or video as well.

  12. phoammhead Says:

okay, i feel like i’m am the target of the no more hampton now portsmouth/ntelos shift in the rumor for memorial day weekend

just in case, though, i’ve booked portsmouth hotel also

now, let’s have it . . . come clean – the jokes on me, right?

  13. EL Duderino Says:

    Montross too phoammhead

  14. EL Duderino Says:

it has the battle ships along the dock!

    nTelos is a unique place.

  15. Guyute711 Says:

Had the time off for Hampton anyway, didn’t get a hotel so maybe that might be some place worth checking out too. The only reason I wanted to go to Hampton was because I have never been.

  16. EL Duderino Says:

Caught three new venues this past year.

    Walnut Creek

    N. Charleston

  17. phoammhead Says:

someone please tell me what dates are rumored for alpharetta

that is a sweet venue and set up and i want to be on top of that situation

i’m aiming to have fully refundable hotels booked for rumored phish dates for the entire summer

    let me have them, please!

  18. Guyute711 Says:

    Me too Duder,
    Walnut Creek
    N. Chucktown

  19. phoammhead Says:

    el dude

were you at TAB at the Tabernacle last year?

  20. EL Duderino Says:

Yep, love that New Orleans style theater… great sound too

  21. Selector J Says:

ntelos is badass. Sweet little amphitheater right on the water with views of the naval shipyard. Real chill last time, too. Didn’t see any arrests. (Granted, I was running pretty late and had next-to-zero lot time but still… )
Surrounding area isn’t too bad either. Very neighborhood-y.

  22. phoammhead Says:

by the way, i heard it said a few days ago that all the later TAB shows last year had Trey doing some acoustic at the end of the first set, but that’s not the way i remember the fillmore in charlotte – i’m pretty sure that was a straight rocker/electric show

  23. phoammhead Says:

    yeah, me, too duder

  24. EL Duderino Says:

If the cali destinations are true

San Diego, LA and SF will be my summer

  25. EL Duderino Says:

Charlotte was the only second half of tour that didn’t have the mini acoustic set
