2.27.2011 TAB @ The Riviera Theatre, Chicago, IL – Mike Thong

2.25.11 (M.Stein)

…I was charmed by the well-played acoustic arrangements of Phish’s canon. Some songs were played on an alternately-tuned second guitar, and some called for a capo. An interesting moment occurred during “Dirt.” Toward the end of the song Trey’s bright disposition became rather sullen and contemplative and it remained that way through the end of “Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan.” It was almost as though some painful thought or unspoken dedication had taken place…Read on here!

2.27.2011 TAB @ The Riviera Theatre, Chicago, IL – The Real Guy Forget

…The floor was densely packed tight, leaving little wiggle room for elbows to send off last minute tweets and texts. The lights dropped at 8:28 and with little fanfare Trey was atop his stool strumming the opening notes to Backwards Down The Number Line. As plenty of audience recordings have proved, the crowd was eager to participate, showering Trey with chorus like waves on a sandy shore. It appeared Trey might have been thrown a curve, as he tried to realign his lyrics with the audience’s refrain, eventually leading to building finish and a large crowd eruption to greet the Bad Lieutenant…Read on here!

  2. Mr. Palmer Says:

missed the ghost myself. only went nights 1 and 3. Finally got my crosseyed. Now, according to phish.net , the 2 most frequently played songs i’ve yet to catch are Tela ( meh) and Jesus Just Left Chicago. Hopefully in 2011. Haven’t got a Stealing Time yet either. Then, i’m pretty done in the bust out category. After midnight is another one.

  3. kenny powers Says:

hmm..wonder what my least seen tunes are. how did you figure that out Palmer?

  4. Mr. Palmer Says:

kp- thanks for putting the shoreline remaster on the ‘nerd. grabbing now. never heard that show either.

  5. Mr. Palmer Says:

Phish.net. if you have all your shows there, you can run stats. like zzyx stuff. Lots of mindless stats about shows and songs. Keeps me occupied for a while when i’m bored or high or both.

  9. Mr. Palmer Says:

your the only seeder, but its fucking moving at light speed. Helps that i have fios, as do you, i believe.

  10. kenny powers Says:

i have FiOS too! lightning speed

  11. Mr. Palmer Says:

well, in 4 minutes there will be 2 seeders 🙂

The Sally from MSG just makes me smile. All i can remember is Robear getting down with that giant shit-eating grin of his in on the aisle at the Garden.

Derek Trucks halftime guest at the Knicks game! Sweet.

anyone unfamiliar with the 8/1/98 Tweezer must feel obligated to check themselves.

  13. kenny powers Says:

98 is incredibly funky. the took what they learned from James Brown in 1997 and applied it in an assertive yet restrained manner in 1998.

    i am red

  14. vegas wolfmans Says:

One thing I really love about that MSG Ghost is when they pull it back down to earth after the HUGE peak and meld back into the song’s structure. No ambient weird outtro- and I love some ambient weirdness. I’ve listened to the song a dozen times probably and it catches me by surprise each time.

Thanks for the Shoreline remaster, KP. I did Phoenix>Gorge run that summer run and have always really dug that show- fire from the jump. Pulling FLACs now. Excited for the upgrade.

    Winning.

  15. Mr.Miner Says:

    ^FACT (in re 8.1 Tweeze)

  16. DukeOfLizards Says:

Don’t mean to barge in on the (Mr. + K)P Hour

But Knicks game + MSG highlights on the stereo + beers?

    Suuuuure.

  17. kenny powers Says:

    hahaha @ DUke!!!

  18. MassJaysfan Says:

Anyone thats going to the bethal shows have advice on where to stay? Are Motels or Campgrounds better and does anyone have personal knowledge of local places. Sorry if this seems out of the blue but any knowledge would be much appreciated. Tom

  19. kenny powers Says:

    @ Miner

how do you feel about that 7/31/97 Shoreline YEM??? Sickness, right? as well as the YaMar and Maze?

  20. kenny powers Says:

    god damn this Tweezer

both this and the Lakewood 6/24/00 tweez have the beneficial and fairly cozy relationship of being sibling Tweezers containing liquid, translucent nastiness of the musical kind.

  21. kenny powers Says:

phish is magic, from a musical standpoint.

  22. kenny powers Says:

    who you gonna call

  23. Mr. Palmer Says:

nice one Duke! now go FY…..j/k How are ya kid?

flarwolfdogg- how goes it kid. I too hit that Desert Sky ’97. Just happened to visit a friend out in Phoenix that week. Just so happened a phish show was going on. hate when that happens. 🙂 Sick show. My favorite Gumbo. Epic early Twist and the monster, second song antelope.

  24. Mr. Palmer Says:

March 10th MSG is airing the Allman’s Bros live from the Beacon! Sweetness.

  25. DukeOfLizards Says:

    @MrP

Doin good. Threw down at Bowlive last night with some buddies, they did a super fun P-Funk tribute set with Bernie Worrell sitting in on keys, really cool. Will probably end up wandering around the St. Paddy’s festivities in Hoboken tomorrow, so laying low tonight.

All good on the Palmer front?
