Weekend Warriors

6.27.10 - Merriweather (Graham Lucas)

In lieu of my usual Friday playlist, this weekend I have assembled a group heavy-hitting selections from 2010 that all took place on weekend nights. Enjoy this weekend, enjoy the tunes, and may all fare well in the ticket lottery!

Tube” 10.30.10 II

This slick version kicked of the second half of Saturday night in AC.

Crosseyed and Painless” 10.16.10 II

6.27.10 (G.Lucas)

Another Saturday second set opener.

Light > Twenty Years Later” 8.7.10 II

A modern classic from The Greek.

Number Line” 6.12.10 II

Perhaps the most impressive jam of last June.

8.17.10 (M. Ladd)

Rock and Roll > Free” 6.26.10 II

In a month when every Saturday night opened with “Rock and Roll,” this version from Merriweather took the cake.

Tweezer > Slave” 7.3.10 II

The definitive jamming sequence from Alpharetta’s holiday stand.

  4. Gavinsdad Says:

No shit Willowed I am draggin over here (on my friends couch in NYC).

  5. willowed Says:

Do you ever notice that when you’re with friends, you always feel like you an do one more of anything?

I have a problem saying no.

    One more beer…OK one more
    One more hit…OK, one more
    One more roll…OK one more

  6. angryjoggerz Says:

Hurtin too, post aquaman hang out sesh, in bed at 1:30 ,up at 6 styleeee.

  7. angryjoggerz Says:

classic moment last night, though. hanging out outside the bar (aqua’s “local”) at like 12:30pm and who runs by… Rod Blagojovich! Aqua, in perfect timing, looks at him and goes, in a very chimney-sweepish accent, “evenin’ govna”. Awesome.

  8. Mr. Palmer Says:

As opposed to when your with strangers?

Morning folks. Gotta see the tax man today. Fun stuff.

  9. Gavinsdad Says:

I did 5 am Advils and water and back to bed. Gonna feed the meter now.

  10. Mr. Palmer Says:

    Classic @Aj.

No chance of seeing Chris Christie running anywhere… At any time.

  11. Highway Bill Says:

Charlie Sheen just threw me out of his house…said I was crazy.

  12. nonoyolker Says:

Caught Furthur last night – definitely no nostalgia act there. They ripped it! Was very impressed. Orpheum is a nice venue for them too. Security was ultra lax, a stark contrast to the ball bags at HOB

I also feel like a pile of dirt today. A fist full of Advil/tums/Xanax and back to bed…

  13. albert walker Says:

    morning Rastas

another vinyl only release of some 80’s digital reggae. produced by George Phang backed by Sly and Robbie some good 1987 stuff

    Charlie Chaplin – Free Africa

  14. Highway Bill Says:

All my friends…backwards down the number line.

  15. garretc Says:

Bittersweet morning here… Last day of snowboarding class means this is probably my last time on the mountain this year, which is bitter, but it also means I won have to get up at 5:45 on Saturdays anymore, which is definitely sweet.

And while we’re on the subject, the first (only?) Harpua on KPSBDII is mildly awkward in the petting of posternutbag section…

Note: once again I’m listening to the comp on my shuffle (in order though), so I’ll be making a lot of comments on undated songs this morning… So hide the children…

  16. joe Says:

I think that review just sealed the deal for me going tomorrow nono. Although, I’ve always thought of the Orpheum’s security as being the worst anywhere (but haven’t been in awhile, so maybe they’ve chilled a bit). It’s the only place I’ve ever been tossed out of for puffing in my 20 plus years going to shows. (during 70v parade trey. shine second song in, realized I wasn’t nearly high enough to make it through the song…got tossed taking one for the team. come to find out my buddy got tossed about 5 songs later by the same dude).

  17. phoammhead Says:

well done, board! sounds like many of you had interesting evenings.

i didn’t pull the all out bender and started water flow when i got home at midnight . . . then at 6 am more water and 2 aspirin, which i believe is what the doctor ordered, no? i guess i’m supposed to call the doc here shortly. can anybody take my call and fill my script.

    thanks for the tunes, MrMiner!

now, come on boyz, let’s be weekend warriors!

big acc bball game tonight . . . i’m getting excited! go heels! 🙂

  18. garretc Says:

Ok, so first Reba on Tier II, beginning of this jam has to count as type II, right? Where the fuck did this come from? Doesn’t sound like any Reba I’ve ever heard!

  19. phoammhead Says:

and Miner, have a great time tonight at TAB – tonight will be the best show of the run!

  20. EL Duderino Says:

Leo, g711 and myself got really plastered as well here and then over @ Leo’s place. So drunk by 11:30pm we had to call it a night.

  21. Mr. Palmer Says:

Little Mad Professor this am with coffee while i go over a years worth of where i spent money last year. Pretty depressing really. Only $1500 on phish tickets….. 11k on child care ! I need to get into that business. Shoot me!

  22. angryjoggerz Says:

AW, too funny. I am at a cafe uploading 2 cds right now – Tiger and Charlie Chaplin. Great minds.

  23. garretc Says:

Whatever this jam that comes after Reba is its just a textbook example of building a jam…

Ahh, Jam > Shock The Monkey! Haha. But yeah, the way that jam goes from nothing to peak then settles into a groove that bleeds into Shock The Monkey is so well crafted!

  24. Mr. Palmer Says:

Trey Anastasio Band – 3/5/11- Music Box Theatre, Los Angeles, CA
