READER REVIEWS:
3.5.2011 TAB @ The Fox, Oakland, CA: Butter
…The night seemed to begin at “Heavy Things”; as simultaneously – the rest of TAB took the stage – and people began to care about what was going on, onstage. Liquid Time is a showcase tune in this setting and the horns help color the musical pallete. Trey currently has the young Natalie “Chainsaw” Cressman on trombone, TAB staple; Jennifer Hartswick on trumpet, and Russell Remmington on saxophone and flute. While this is not “The Tower of Power” horns section, they help develop the sound of this band, playing mostly charted out lines…Read On Here!

3.1.2011 TAB @ The Ogden, Denver, CO: Mike San Clements
…Trey came out around 8:30, did his classic nod and wave, picked up his guitar and quickly launched into Farmhouse. I’d read a lot of complaints about people being loud during the acoustic sets, but the crowd at the Ogden hushed immediately and stayed quiet and sang through all the right parts. It was actually quite impressive, particularly during Theme and Backwards Down the Number Line where they instinctively filled in for the missing band members. Trey enjoyed it too, and it felt like a true collaboration between performer and audience…Read On Here!

seems like everyone scored nTelos tix -I’ve got 6 myself. Weird.
ISO covered PAVs in both Raleigh and Charlotte for my 4 extra nTelos tix
my good friends got pairs of lawn tickets for the detroit>gummo run. 6 lawns in all. i told them to post here more often.
Df, are you working on your french accent and your acoustic guitar? bethel’s coming up fast. campfires aplenty. acoustic is the new electric, baby!
sumodie, I need nTelos. I’ll be trying to get pavs for Raleigh and Charlotte then for trade.
@robear, i’m only bringing an acoustic if im camping near all you kids… where the hell is everyone camping
it will definitely be at watkin’s glen!
acoustic is the new electric, baby!
That’s not the tune you were singing at T5 😉
I hope for your sake phish plays there then, fOoL. cuz the nascar fans might not dig your acoustic stylings. or maybe some would and you’d meet a cute/trashy nascar chick you can convince to go on tour with you… god luck with that 😉
I am working on a beautiful solo acoustic arrangement of Summer of 89 I will be unveiling all over the Midwest camping sites.
I hadn’t heard FYC for a while. Anything related to English Beat is gonna be good.
She Drives Me Crazy drum intro sounds exactly like INXS’s Mediate.
what’s the deal for transportation at BTB fest????
heres a phish thought from a philm kid.
im in an Experimental Film class and one of my project ideas i was cosidering was making the film to which a session of completely improvised music is the score.
so like i’d take a phish jam and think about what images the “score” brings to mind and compose a story for it. as the music shifts trhough genres/tones the story is shaped.
in a sese i realized, it’s kind of like a music video but since it was for an 8 minute project it’s more of a film. so many jams came to mind
so im sitting here high playing jams thinking about which ones would be cool. i throw on tower jam and i realize it would be Crazy if i made essentially a film for the whole thing
and then a term came to mind which is the culmination of my thought process
– Feature Length Music Video!
the first ever! am i high off my ass or would this be fucking cool? tower jam, lemonwheel ambient, not to mention things from NOT phish. the only qualification is that it’s completely improvised and separate from the film entirely beforehand.
going to class now, then to Soulive/John Scofield with Mitch. but post thoughts/suggestions ill check back later
@MiA: let’s see how the onsales pan out -will def keep you in mind for nTelos
Sumo, Thanks!
I’ll admit, I have put on a Phish show, and put on Fantasia at the same time, and just let the music play. I’ve had quite a few “Dark Side of the Rainbow” type moments there.
Just got an out of the blue email from a friend. Just hooked me up with Pnc 2 pavilions. sweet.
NOT MARKETING, REALLY:
but i work for a large hipster apparel company (quick! guess!) in Phila and we do 4 days of music behind our store in Austin in conjunction with SXSW. We have a 26 song mix of the bands playing our store available for free download here:
http://blog.urbanoutfitters.com/features/live_in_austin_2011
and i thought you foolz would be into it. It’s all indie so….know that.
@MiA
Wait a minute – that’s brilliant.
Fantasia DVD, here I come.
nice @gdad! Will definitely have to make it down there for some of that. Couldn’t talk them into a reggae selector showcase, huh? (Just kidding.)
You’re right by the radio station if you want to come hang out during the show early on Thursday morning.
