READER REVIEWS:

3.5.2011 TAB @ The Fox, Oakland, CA: Butter

2.25.11 (M.Stein)

…The night seemed to begin at “Heavy Things”;  as simultaneously – the rest of TAB took the stage –  and people began to care about what was going on, onstage. Liquid Time is a showcase tune in this setting and the  horns help color the musical pallete. Trey currently has the young Natalie “Chainsaw” Cressman on trombone, TAB staple; Jennifer Hartswick on trumpet, and Russell Remmington on saxophone and flute. While this is not “The Tower of Power” horns section, they help develop the sound of this band, playing mostly charted out lines…Read On Here!

3.1.2011 TAB @ The Ogden, Denver, CO: Mike San Clements

2.25.11 (M.Stein)

…Trey came out around 8:30, did his classic nod and wave, picked up his guitar and quickly launched into Farmhouse. I’d read a lot of complaints about people being loud during the acoustic sets, but the crowd at the Ogden hushed immediately and stayed quiet and sang through all the right parts. It was actually quite impressive, particularly during Theme and Backwards Down the Number Line where they instinctively filled in for the missing band members.  Trey enjoyed it too, and it felt like a true collaboration between performer and audience…Read On Here!

    Spinning 6.19.04

Serious question- where the fuck did those 2 shows come from during that disaster of a tour? One last ditch throw down out of nowhere. One of life’s great mysteries, i guess.

  6. garretc Says:

    RCMH Ghost: know it.

Way too much sickness in that jam!

Lot of hot jams in this show, more than I expected after hearing the RCMH stand wasn’t quite up to expectations… (Probably more to do w/ the high expectations!)

Don’t sleep on the Gin in set I!

  7. garretc Says:

    @Mr. P

Who knows, but whatever it is, I get down on my knees and pray to it every night, because I can’t imagine it being anything less than a wrathful deity that made possible such monstrous, crushing jams!

GD: You hitting any of the ATL>nTELOS? We gotta chat, I’ve been riding since I was a wee one and would love to chat. Oyola is the man but I’ve always been a Kenny Reed fan. They both have really similar styles.

I had to throttle back a bit and am riding a santa cruz pool bomber in the parking garages here and such. No more throwing myself down stairs…gotta keep my ankles for tour. Still have my habitat (jonoski) that I bust out on the weekends. Gotta keep that 3-flip fresh, use it or lose it!

  12. AintNoTele Says:

PoopG: whats your take on the Slip? I like Brad Barr’s style but like him more jamming with the benevento trio

  13. gavinsdad Says:

@aint no: you met me and know how old i am…i never had a tre…was lucky to have a kickflip. but that’s funny you mention kenny reed….before i left work i watched some matt rodruiguez and kenny reed ipath vids. when i was a young buck back in 92 we’d go to ft. miley in SF and i have tales of hangin with matt field that i’ll leave off the board.

nowadays i am awful and just push around to be able to skate with my sons. we can chat offline too…sorry for the skateboarding hijack BB!

only leg 1 for me is PNC and Camden unfortunately. gonna try to cash in a leg 2 adventure as well. will miss the NC shows! super fun last summer having that mind baby and all.
