If only “living simply and wisely” had a more clearly marked sign… It’s hard not to drive by without seeing it…

(That second sentence was only for the purpose of awkwardly extending the metaphor…)

  2. Mr. Palmer Says:

robear- sumo had mentioned the dates on the green board. I did the cut and paste thing. seem a bit farfetched , at least some of the dates.

  3. Selector J Says:

    Gladly @ G711
Just in case y’all think I’m overstating how badass Marshall is playing. Watch what #5 does in this game:
(The UNC official fluffer site’s) UNC-Duke highlights Other guys made plays, too but it’s all about the PG, imo. 11 assists. 2 turnovers. Pretty decent ratio there.

  4. P.S.H.S Says:

    uh…. SWED! chemdog for lunch

  5. kenny powers Says:

    @ garretc

that’s, like, actually pretty fucking brilliant.

  6. halcyon Says:

    Yeah Garret

the quote seemed fitting for this mornings conversations. Often easier said than done.

  7. voopa Says:

Strip clubs will never allow the dollar bill to be eliminated.

There’s NO FUCKING WAY Phish would even consider that many West Coast dates. While it looks nice, 2 mid-weeknights in LA? No way. Followed by the Gorge AND Portland on a Sunday AND Tahoe the next Tue-Wed? No Way. I wish, but not gonna happen.

  8. garretc Says:

    @Mr. P

Yeah, like why go LA > WA then down? I’d understand if they were coming through the SW to the coast, but start the tour on one side of the country and play the two days later on the other side of the country?

Plus, I’d like more of those bay area dates back… Haha

Not to mention playing at a casino in Tahoe? They aren’t washed up yet, right? Did that happen and we all missed it?

  9. kayatosh Says:

robear: checked out the greensky on that streamin stuff. really good. good loookin out.

re. unc — marshall (PG) is for real. he is nba material now.

re. worry, addiction, stress, premature death — don’t take things so hard. keep track of yourself and be honest. draw appropriate boundaries. stress is real and will eat you alive if you let it. recognize the stress and where it might be coming from (again be honest. that double grande may not be what your already tweaked nervous system needs), compartmentalize it (cage it. try to separate it from the other aspects f your life), and then begin to tame it and, ideally, banish it. drugs and alcohol cover up the problem temporarily and make it worse in the long run. there is a place for drugs and alcohol for some, but keeping limits with substances that can (or you believe can) alleviate the pain and angst is a hard thing to do. so much easier to toke, chug a lug, poppa pharmie, bang a 7 gram rock, etc. than to drag your ass to the yoga mat. peace

Bitter west coast phans unite! LLFA

“Good dates for us? Yeah right, like that’ll happen… Even Neil Young hates us and he’s FROM the west! (Well, adopted home…)”

  11. voopa Says:

garretc- The outdoor amphitheater at Harvey’s is really nice. Everyone plays there…Stevie Wonder in ’09, for example.

I could totally see Phish doing a single Friday or Saturday gig there, but with OSL in the rumor mill, I doubt it.

  12. garretc Says:

Aww gee, hyperbole, surely, but appreciated nonetheless!

(But I do claim a share of future merchandising revenue utilizing that quote)

  13. Selector J Says:

the only legit thing about those dates is that there are no Texas dates.

  14. sumodie Says:

neil young’s live at canterbury house ’68 is such a naively astounding performance, solo acoustic taboot w/ no singalong. quiet, delicate, beautiful, passionate playing w/ amusing stage banter

and neil was just a few days shy of his 23rd birthday

  15. garretc Says:

Oh that’s good to hear, cause Stevie Wonder is totally not washed up…

Haha, but that’s good to know, actually. I went to the website briefly and the first musical act I saw listed on the front page was The Sun Kings, a Beatles cover band that I watched for free in a town square a couple years ago, and I decided that seemed a bit below Phish’s paygrade…

(“Below/Above _____’s paygrade” has been my phrase of the week, apparently…)

MMW 3.2.2011 — $$$. the tape is also $$$. respectful audience, great acoustics.

  17. SillyWilly Says:

    Madison is in an uproar.

Republican party died in Madison last night.

i seriously haven’t met a person who thought any of this was ok. Even my conservative friends are like “that’s fucked up.”

  18. sumodie Says:

ive been grabbing all those new mmw shows. cant wait to spin those open improv sets

  19. phoammhead Says:

^kaya, good, true and wise words about worry, stress, etc

as for that part about kendall marshall, shut your mouth! 🙂 he’s going to be around the college ranks for 4 years! at least i hope so. let’s don’t give him any ideas about nba anytime soon!

  20. kayatosh Says:

if my previous post came off as self-righteous, i apologize. make no mistake, i struggle with stress, anxiety, fear, doubt, guilt, and sadness. we all do to one degree or another. I have experienced financial loss and familial loss, and abandoned a lucrative profession and job that a more prudent person would have clung to. it’s hard. life is hard. we do what we can to keep the mind kind. of course, it’s easier typed than done. thanks for bearing with me.

  21. kayatosh Says:

sumodie. start w/ 3.2.2011. that tape is incredibly clean. been loving it all morn.

phoam: I’m trying to live by those words. typing them is the easy part. .

  22. SillyWilly Says:

I hope many people get to run across you in their life.

“Self-righteous” is the last word that would come to my mind after hanging out with you in AC.

I think you live an incredibly authentic, self-conscious, aware lifestyle, man.

  23. kenny powers Says:

    @ kaya

i don’t think you sounded self-righteous, i think you sounded like someone sharing what he has learned from his struggles with those very things.

  24. halcyon Says:

Re: MMW as the tour dates progress…look for more guest sit ins…
