A mere fortnight after Trey played two nights at the same Denver theatre, Mike’s band hit the Ogden with impressive guests in tow. Joining Gordon’s band onstage were New Orleans legends Ivan and Ian Neville, former 70 Volt Parade bassist, Tony Hall, and drummer, Raymond Weber—current members of the New Orleans’ outfit, Dumsptafunk. Together, the ensemble played three songs to close out the first set, including Prince’s “Alphabet Street,” and then two more for the encore, including “Things That Make You Go Hmm….” In addition, Mike’s band packed in plenty of jamming on its own in a show that looks to be one of the most interesting of tour. Check out some audio clips below, or download the show with one of three links above.

I: Andelmans’ Yard, Balloon, Black Tambourine, Willow Tree, Fire From a Stick, Ain’t Love Funny > Kryermaten > Ain’t Love Funny, Jaded*, Alphabet Street*, Down To the Nightclub*

II: Sound, Suskind Hotel > River Niger > Rock On > Suskind Hotel, I Miss My Mind, Hap-Nappy, Got Away, Hand in My Pocket, Mound

E: Jones*, Things That Make You Go Hmmm…*

Looks like a fun Mike’s show last night. Haven’t really felt the need to seek out any of his shows but I have been clicking the tracks on the BB (Thanks for posting them, Miner!).
Gotta love Mike’s courage but maybe MGB isn’t ready for a full-on Mound… Some of it is just different but some of it isn’t supposed to be as different as it is, methinks. Not trying to hate. You know I love ya, @posterkid! You’re really feeling this Alphabet Street.
confession: first I’ve ever heard of that song. I only started listening to Prince post-Batman Soundtrack. (Lemon Crush is my jam!)

  4. Selector J Says:

    @aj Did you see this?

In now way am I saying that Gordo’s tour tops the Trza but, man, his set lists sure are intersting.
Big Red pretty much played the same shit night after night.
Gordo is mixing his shit up. I like it.

    Japan trading strong yesterday Kaya

watch some of the stocks that have pullbacked good like FCX and some of the chip companies like BRCM

they seem to be trying to find some footing. FCX was up 5% yesterday and copper seems to be firming

    important day.

  20. bhizzle Says:

The only time I caught MGB the y closed it with Taking It to the Streets. I saw setlists from shows earlier in that tour and saw that they were playing it so I was excited to hear it. It’s so goofy. Anyway, it was a slight dissappointment. I think it was due to the vocals. Hopefully since then MGB has imporved upon it.

  21. EL Duderino Says:

This Other One Jam is in HD with real nice close up shots of fret work fellas!

Do any of these southern rock shredders (Allmans, Herring…others?) have solo projects that tour up north? love to catch some tasty fret work but i can’t afford the ABB and Furthur tickets. have seen very little live rock outside Phish/TAB/MGB lately.
