Festival Express II

Here’s another run through Phish’s eight festivals, one highlight at a time. Enjoy the jams as the weekend (and Super Ball IX) approaches!

The Clifford Ball

Mike’s -> Simple” 8.16.96 II

One of The Clifford Ball’s lasting highlights (with a scorching second jam in “Mike’s.”)

Tweezer> Taste” 8.17.97 II

These festival-sized grooves laced Sunday afternoon’s set at The Great Went. This version included teases of “Cities” and “Simple,” both highlights of the previous night.

Some quintessential Summer ’98 funk on the grandest stage of the season.

One of “Piper’s” finest versions; a thrilling ride.

Big Cypress

Twist -> Caspian” 12.31.99

This “Twist” provided an introspective jam that truly evoked the passage of time as the calendar turned to 2000.

Walls -> Runaway Jim > Jibboo” 8.14.04 I

Though Coventry may have been a train wreck, its opening sequence was surprisingly hot.

    I second @ Duder’s rec to hit the ‘Southern Cross’.

    Just an amazing way to take in some Phish. Leo and his wife are the epitome of ‘Hosts with the most’ crossed with ‘Southern Hospitality’.

    -Great company, even El Duderino in the flesh!
    -Awesome weather
    -better ‘mound to meatstick’ ratio than the northeast or midwest
    -lots of jams left on the table last year
    -Alpharetta is the slickest venue of it’s type out there.

  9. Robear Says:

    @halcy,

    prayer sent.

    @butter, she left a week early. i head out next week.

  10. Luther T. Justice Says:

    @tela
    I have aud flacs for 7-2-95, but not 7-3. I’d be happy to send them snail mail. Hit me up on the facebook and I’ll send ’em.

  11. EL Duderino Says:

    -Great company, even El Duderino in the flesh!-Robear

    again… me and AW’s history or whatever is our history, doesn’t mean I’m not a good person or know what I’m talking about here and there (music, life, love). and that’s what i’ve tried to convey to some of you. practically everyone, not all, but everyone that has met me feels I’m a good duder who knows what’s up.

  12. BingosBrother Says:

    Happy journey around the sun Jacy. God bless you and your old man.

  13. Robear Says:

    I will be there for the southern cross.

  16. Luther T. Justice Says:

    El Dude abides!

  17. Robear Says:

    excited for you @ Lycan! last year was blissful. Duder and Leo met me at the airport and laid out the red carpet the whole weekend. Duder hands me a stack of Phish sbds., I hand them some handiwork, and it was on!

  18. lastwaltzer Says:

    @robear

    happy birthday to your little guy!

  19. Guyute711 Says:

    So do we have a spreadsheet going for who will be attending what shows yet?

  20. tela'smuff Says:

    wow Robear. that brings a tear to my eye, being a father myself. i can’t imagine a better person to bring joy to that little boys life than you. major love your way bro.

    @halcyon – thoughts are with you too. let’s get the wives together sooner than later.

    AND – i of course can confirm Dude is indeed a good guy. at least when it comes to his sports teams. 😉

  21. Guyute711 Says:

    at least when it comes to his sports teams.

    I completely disagree. 🙂

  22. Leo Weaver Says:

    Real quick driveby…

    @Luther…did you get my FB message? I will be in Ohio, rides taken care of, though I may copilot down to cinci if you need one.

    Anybody that wants to join in the preshow festivities in Charlotte, hit me up at cannondawg at gmail. I’m trying to get things planned this week.

    Now back to work…

  23. Robear Says:

    Thanks for the warm wishes, all. We adopted Jacy at birth, not knowing his condition. His birth mother was ‘houseless’ and in a bad situation. It’s been quite the journey. If nothing else, I’ve learned to take things one day at a time. I still get stressed about the future, but he keeps me grounded. I’d like to think that all you cats would do really well in my situation. It’s all about compassion, and you all are good hearted peeps.

    Jacy’s been a blessing and a burden in ways I still can’t describe, or understand.

    I figure we all consist of ‘Mind, Body, Spirit’. His spirit is glowing, his mind is missing. Lots of people have the opposite problem.

  24. tela'smuff Says:

    Luther T – don’t sweat it man. I appreciate the offer, but I’ll just wait til it pops up again. plenty more to grab via Sumodie and his links. going to dive into 11-30-95 after the OLF announcement.

  25. Jtran Says:

    Spinning this live Elton John from garret’s mediafire

    Thanks Gunit
