i think i was turned off of 98 because of Hampton Comes Alive and the jukebox tour of the summer

Obv didnt give it a deep enough listen

  2. Robear Says:

G7 killing it today! you’re hired. help run the slacker outpost.

lycan, keep me posted. there are phatty RV’s to be had in Seattle.

checking Miami ’09 ‘Reba’ for good measure. 3.0 highlights really hold up.

  3. Mr.Miner Says:

98 hampton second show is a beast

  4. Guyute711 Says:

Slacker outpost sounds like a job I would thrive in. Is it ok if I am a chronic procrastinator?

  5. Robear Says:

    ^agreed miner.

::didn’t make it in first night anyway::

  6. Robear Says:

G-7, that’s actually one of the requirements.

  7. Mulitbeast Says:

Alright….plans are in motion. Looking at Gorge with my west coast pals, and than UIC with my midwest crew. But now I ask you all wise BB….if a guy had to choose between one or the other, should I go Gorge or UIC. Note that I have never been to the Gorge, but also note I did not catch many fall shows in 10 so I am itching for some indoor phish.

  8. Dr. Pronoia Says:

I think it was GD on here who was counseling folks a month back to jot down details of the shows they’d been to before their hole-y memories turned them into one big blur

so I spent a few weeks writing little blurbs about all the shows I’d been to: personal details, who I was with, what I was on, what jams stood out, funny shit before and after shows, etc.

because that Madison 98 show was my first, and I was out of my head for it on L, I went back and listened to it closely, and that Split that AW mentions is indeed a monster, and the 2nd set Simple goes super ambient beautiful before the Caspian, with a very nice Hood with glowstick war to close the set. Nothing all that Type II, but a great introduction nonetheless

Come to chicago, make some new memories. Respond to tm’s as well.

Show time here in SF, in the thick of it, ready to bail but not happening. Stress.

  10. Fly Says:

Girl at Yale was killed last night after getting her hair caught in a lathe in the machine shop. Fucked up shit. Don’t know what to do with myself today.

  11. Dr. Pronoia Says:

Ha, sorry AJ. Saw those texts but was covered in vomit and forgot to respond.

I put in for UIC tix but it’ll be a stretch, even with family to visit out there. Going into private practice in September is going to be a huge financial risk, with a lot of capital needed up front. May not be able to justify it…

Oh and I heartily recommend that personal write-up process. Got a lot of good stuff out for posterity’s sake, and had fun listening back taboot

  12. RandomReader Says:

@Kenny, kaveh – I like these comments. It’s good to know what works well and what doesn’t work as well – I’m learning with each one. I think it was partly a fortunate accident that the first one I made had such a stellar, bass-heavy yet crisp aud available. I’ve tried to go for that same feel, but the ‘roo aud was too muddy; i had to cut out a decent amount of the midrange (which also accounts for why the chatter is so minimized). I also have been wary of pushing the gain too high after Kenny mentioned some clipping in the loudest parts of some JB tunes. It’s all a work in progress.

  13. RandomReader Says:

Has anyone listened to Mike’s hotline today, and/or seen the shite that’s been blowing up over on the “other PT”? It looks like either Mike took the April Fools prank way too personally, or just has a twisted sense of humor – which, well, we already know that’s true, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t serious here … anyway the whole thing makes me uncomfortable.

  14. Dr. Pronoia Says:

^^ what’s all this about RR? what prank?

@ Fly – that’s fucked up man. Undergrad or grad student?

  15. joe Says:

bring back the super funky free please!

  16. kenny powers Says:

any Boston peeps who don’t end up going to UIC –

Tedeschi Trucks Band, opener Steve Earle @ the BOA Pavilion that Weds

  17. kenny powers Says:

    yeah what Mike prank?

  18. Makisupa Says:

6.18.94 II was the tape I played to convert Heads into Phans

    100% success rate

Greatest tape ever, just ahead of 7.21.91

I can’t do the Gorge for the 1st time – weddings, and yes it is a first world problem.

Options to see Phish before they semi-retire again:

    Superball?
Don’t want to pile on the tight chi-town ticket scene.
Tahoe venue ‘looks’ lame for such an incredible area.
I guess it’s Hollywood or bust!

I don’t listen to fall 98 much since Page told me about the crack invasion of tour. Summer tour was a blast. Excellent shows all the way.

  19. joe Says:

much of the newer stuff sounds “generic/formulaic” in comparison to the jams Miner has been unloading on us lately. I’m expecting the same twists and turns as in 3.0 songs but they spin me around and send me off in a completely different direction. More freewheelin in 2011!

  20. Kaveh Says:

@RR: Thanks to you…I love to listen to your matrix’s…so please keep them coming.

I remember reading about the prank, but what is the fallout?

  21. RandeeBear Says:

    Thank you Mr. Minor

  22. Mulitbeast Says:

Not sure what the prank is but I am listening to the hotline, but he does not sound pleased….something about boundries. Give him a call: 212.330.9092

  23. Chuck sweD Says:

    “they semi-retire again”

    pffft.

  24. bouncin fan Says:

nothing wrong with a little hubbas
