On the ultimate stoner holiday, 4/20, let’s take a look at the band’s lone reggae song and herbal reference, “Makisupa Policeman.” This article was first posted a year ago today and I excerpted the intro below with a link to the entire piece.

Of all the musical genres in which Phish dabbles, reggae is, perhaps, the least significant. With mere passages of “Harry Hood” and “Slave” flirting with a roots-based groove, “Makisupa Policeman” is Phish’s lone original foray into the genre. A relic from the band’s stonier days, “Makisupa” is actually the first known publicly played Phish original, making its debut on 10.23.84. Mentioning this fact in Philadelphia on 11.29.03, Trey also also noted that its lyrics were written by Tom Marshall as a kid. Though it was the “original Phish song,” the band’s homage to ganja has been somewhat of a rarity throughout their career. Always eliciting comedic cheers with Trey’s chosen “keyword,“ ”Makisupa” is Phish’s only musical reference to many fans’ recreational smoke. Usually highlighted by the creative dub lines of Gordon, this song has played multiple roles throughout Phish’s career….Read on!

I agree Duder. I try and take her once a year, at most two. Although we had a blast at AC 1, it usually involves me being a husband first, a freak second. 🙁
i don’t mind it at all. she gets pissy if she’s not spun but other than that just get her spun make sure she stops the hard drinks at 5-6 and she’s up for anything. we’re on vacation though and we’re just so stoked to get away we are in a chill mood on tour. plus we don’t do powders and get sleep so it’s all good.

we don’t eat molly anymore either so that def helps. the clean L we wake up happy and ready for breakfast. in 09 we ate molly a few times and that shit tends to make you crazy. haven’t eaten it since Red Rocks.

I can go either way on the molly thing. I’m not a talker either way, so thats not an issue. Wife doesn’t really do it either. Nothing wrong w/ some molly once in a while, those headaches the next morning do suck though.
With molly i know i’m gonna be good in 3 hours or so. The L, double that. So depending on circumstances, sometimes molly is the better choice.
Took some amazing shrooms at Albany ’09. Those are a blast. Might have to make that a priority at a stop this summer.
