TTFF: Ten From ’10

12.31.2010 (Ryan Gilbertie)

With only two weeks separating us from the kick-off of Phish’s massive Summer 2011, let’s take a moment to revisit some of last year’s finest moments, in no particular order. For anyone who thinks Phish doesn’t jam anymore, take a run through this playlist…enjoy….

***

2001 > David Bowie” 10.30 II

10.30.10 (D.Lavery)

The smoking conclusion—and finest segment—of a wild, pre-Halloween night.

***

Reba” 10.19 E

The divine creation that came out of nowhere in Augusta’s encore.

[audio:http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/ph2010-10-19d3t04.mp3]

***

Ghost” 12.31 II

12.30.10 G.Lucas)

The Holy “Ghost.”

***

Seven Below -> What’s the Use?” 12.27 II

A delicate, introspective journey from Worcester’s snow-covered opening night.

[audio:http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/ph2010-12-27t15.mp3,http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/ph2010-12-27t16.mp3]

***

Rock and Roll -> Carini” 10.22 II

10.23.10 (R. Gilbertie)

Providence’s exploratory set-opening combo; from an avant-garde “Rock and Roll” into a blissful “Carini.”

***

Light” 8.7. II

The band’s magnum opus from the Greek—one of the year’s improvisational peaks.

[audio:http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/ph2010-08-07t12.mp3]

***

Harry Hood” 12.28 II

12.30.2010 (G.Lucas)

An impeccable, four-part musical conversation that, in my opinion, represents musical perfection.

***

Backwards Down the Number Line” 6.12 II

One of very few jams from June’s tour with staying power. Phish came together in an instant amidst a noodly jam and crafted a soundtrack for secret-agent.

[audio:http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/ph2010-06-12t13.mp3]

***

Simple” 8.6 II

8.5.10 (W. Rogell)

One of the most engaging jams from, arguably, the most creative three-night stand of the year at the Greek.

[audio:http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/ph2010-08-06t12.mp3]

***

Disease -> What’s the Use?” 8.14 II

Face melting rock and roll morphs into sublime territory, landing perfectly in “What’s the Use?.”

  5. [an unrelated] Wilson Says:

    thanks for the tracks.

i still dont get the greek light. saw it, wasn’t blown away. i think the toyota park light may be my favorite.

  6. bird Says:

holdin down the fort here on lupper.

  7. Matso Says:

That might be a Top Ten from 10… I was never that crazy about Blossom’s BDTNL though – sure, it comes together nicely, but it’s a short pay-off. I prefer Jones Beach. Maybe swap that one with Utica’s Have Mercy->Jam, and there’s my top 10.

  8. Al Says:

    My ten of 10:
    1. Backwards down (Jones Beach)
    2. Light (Greek)
    3. Bowie (AC)
    4. Stash (AC)
    5. 2001 > Michael Jackson (Camden)
    6. Cities>Jam (Greek)
    7. Reba (Augusta)
    8. Crosseyed (Charleston 10/16)
    9. Ghost (NYE)
    10. DWD>Whats the use (Alpine)

  9. listentomorejazz Says:

Yeah man, the 2001> Michael Jackson medley was bad. Also, I’m really glad the worcester hood got the nod. possibly my favorite all year.

  10. violet Says:

    worcester h00d is king

  11. angryjoggerz Says:

    Go Bulls!

They’ve matured so much in the last few years. It’s been fun watching Rose grow into being the man. I also think that the new defensive system is really what makes them serious contenders this year.

  12. EL Duderino Says:

    Ha Ha AJ!

  13. st8 of mind Says:

Nothing like TTFF to cheer me up after the Wings losing to SJ last night. Thanks Miner. Mornin BB.

  14. Mr palmer Says:

    Tough top ten to crack.

Greek Cities and JB numberline would be right there as well.

  15. Gavinsdad Says:

Tight. Thx Miner. I’m also w @Al on the Greek cities and JB numberline needing to be in the mix. I’m not much of a ranking guy tho.

  16. Gavinsdad Says:

    ^ha Palmer.

  17. bhizzle Says:

And Miner delivers again on another Friday. No better way to start the end of the work week.

  18. angryjoggerz Says:

When Page jumps in and gets into BDTNL it goes cosmic.

  19. BTB Says:

Been shelving the PH lately, might be time to dig back in. Tx for the jams

  20. Luther T. Justice Says:

The Greek Light is west coast psychedelic Phish at its best. To say otherwise would be an abomination.

  21. Luther T. Justice Says:

    @ BTB
Are the 2nd Annual BTB Fest details up on your blog?

  22. BTB Says:

  23. BTB Says:

Wow, LT and I are telepathically communicating…I will send out an email pretty soon. Per the blog FAQ’s
