“Venues of Summer Vol. I” & Utica Giveaway!

PNC Bank Arts Center - Holmdel, NJ

As Summer Tour is around the corner, and in the spirit of the new soundboard tracks from the archives that continue to trickle out from “Past Summer Tours,” I decided to combine a compilation of my own with a contest and giveaway. Here’s the deal: in the compilation linked below—”Miner’s Venues of Summer Vol. I”—you’ll find 12 tracks from the history of Leg One venues. Just drop folder into iTunes and the setlist of the compilation will pop-up. But here’s the catch, you won’t see the venues or dates of the selections. Your job is to come up with the correct venue and date for each selection, nothing too hard, and shoot me an email with the subject line “Summer Venue Contest.” All correct responses will be entered to win one of three brand spanking new copies of “Phish: Live In Utica” DVD/CD box set! All winning entries will be put into a hat and the three winners will be drawn at random. You may enter anytime until Sunday at 3pm pacific, and the winners will be announced on Monday! Send your entries to mrminer@phishthoughts.com (FYI: I didn’t get all techie and strip MP3 tags, but just drop the folder in iTunes and play by the honor code. The point is to get as many candidates as possible for the Utica drawing, not to trick anyone.)

Enjoy the Tunes!

Halley’s -> Roses -> NO2” 7.13.99 I

Here’s a selection from Great Woods history that didn’t make the compilation, but is a retro-summer treat, nonetheless.

good morning peeps! finally no rain when I woke up this morning. hoping it stays that way the rest of the day. have to get my veggies in the ground.

I’m still trying to hold out watching any clips from the Utica dvd before I get my very own, suppose to be in transit as I type. But there’s nothing to prevent me rocking the J to the mutha fuckin D!

  10. bhizzle Says:

phoam…I know I gave you static before re: your westy, wook status and all, but I have to admit they’re sweet. I’ve been sizing one up that’s around the corner from my house now for 2 years. It’s been sitting in the same spot in the drive. hasn’t moved an inch. thinking about stopping and inquiring. Do all westys have the kitchen?

  11. Selector J Says:

    Nice Miner! Good stuff.

Hopefully the rain will let up for good in southern Ohio because the Cinci venue is currently under water. The first concert of the season was supposed to be tonight but its been posponed until August. A news anchor was boating through the pav on the news the other night.

What would be awesome is if they would move it indoors to the Crown (or whatever corporate sponsor its named after nowadays) where they’ve played so many great shows. I’d prefer it hands down to Riverbend.

  13. Foul_Domain Says:

@Miner – 7 of the ‘summer venue’ tracks have dates in the file name

  14. Selector J Says:

    Facking wicked!

  18. marcoesq Says:

We should also have another contest, who can make the best compilation from all of these venues. I’ve already got a few in mind..

  19. albert walker Says:

Miners piece on custy art yesterday got me to track down a copy of that MSG set. pretty stoked to get that bad boy framed up. although my girl has a few old school Pollocks around the house first poster I’ve ever bought.

i’d rather stay in a bed somewhere, but i took the westy to a local music festival where everyone was camping for a weekend not long ago and it is great to have and be up off the ground.

they are sweet as can be, a great time and make for a great compact living situation, which can save some money and be very convenient for festival type situations.

with bethel and limited hotels near by and i scored a sweet spot to camp ($20/person/day) next to the venue, it just makes good sense.

one of my absolutes is not to find myself behind the wheel of a car after a show.

bek and i will drive halfway to bethel and camp at a campground ($10/person, which saves money on hotel rooms) on the way up and do the same on the way back home. 6 hr drive thursday evening and 6 hrs on friday to bethel. same 6 hrs a day on the way home after bethel.

i haven’t driven the westy on a long trip in a while, so i definitely needed to get it hopefully road worthy . . . wish us good and safe travels! i ended up getting 5 new tires, even the spare is new. spares that have been sitting/mounted up under the front of the car as in the case of the westy will not be good anymore after the basic life of a tire, even if you’ve never used it/driven on it.

for the southern run, we’ll be taking bek’s subaru and staying in hotels in alpharetta (within walking distance to venue), with a friend in charlotte (with van transportation to and from the venue), hotel in raleigh with van transportation, hotel in portsmouth within walking distance.

will take westy to superballix with same 12 hr drive from asheville to new york state and are planning the same driving, camping breakdown

will walk to the gorge! no, just kidding, will fly, of course, rent a car and camp in general cu$tie, wookville camping!

    there it is boyz!

@bhizzle, by definition i believe all or most westys have the kitchen, unless they’ve been modified. but, not all the VW vans, buses have the kitchen. some versions and the van or bus, which are not “westys” are a little different.

  21. bhizzle Says:

Had to see what all the fuss was about….that shirt IS nice!

Good idea marcoesq..that would force me to listen to some shows I prolly never heard before.

Just now hearing the NO2 and it’s making me think of the wisdom work I’m having done tomorrow….eeek!

  22. marcoesq Says:

  24. Selector J Says:

@aw Definitely. The Fat Boys get it. You would have hated the track I followed it with, though. Stephen & Damian Marley on The Traffic Jam. Custy reggae. The track is straight bumping, tho. Has a nice beat box riddim that I thought made a natural segue.

That bad ass Roots Radics/Scientist track is playing now.
Al Campbell – Jah Love -> General Lee & Trinity – Jah A Me Right Hand Man

    WAIT

there are more leaked SBD tracks right now??? where???
