“Venues of Summer Vol. I” & Utica Giveaway!

PNC Bank Arts Center - Holmdel, NJ

As Summer Tour is around the corner, and in the spirit of the new soundboard tracks from the archives that continue to trickle out from “Past Summer Tours,” I decided to combine a compilation of my own with a contest and giveaway. Here’s the deal: in the compilation linked belowโ€””Miner’s Venues of Summer Vol. I”โ€”you’ll find 12 tracks from the history of Leg One venues. Just drop folder into iTunes and the setlist of the compilation will pop-up. But here’s the catch, you won’t see the venues or dates of the selections. Your job is to come up with the correct venue and date for each selection, nothing too hard, and shoot me an email with the subject line “Summer Venue Contest.” All correct responses will be entered to win one of three brand spanking new copies of “Phish: Live In Utica” DVD/CD box set! All winning entries will be put into a hat and the three winners will be drawn at random. You may enter anytime until Sunday at 3pm pacific, and the winners will be announced on Monday! Send your entries to mrminer@phishthoughts.com (FYI: I didn’t get all techie and strip MP3 tags, but just drop the folder in iTunes and play by the honor code. The point is to get as many candidates as possible for the Utica drawing, not to trick anyone.)

Enjoy the Tunes!

Here’s a selection from Great Woods history that didn’t make the compilation, but is a retro-summer treat, nonetheless.

And in terms of the predetermining, I dont think they ever know ahead of time that this/that show is going to be epic

It’s all about the energy in the room when they step on stage. During setbreak, will Trey say to everyone: “Let’s open with Disease and take it out there!”?, sure, but to say “Let’s hit a great 20min DWD>WTU” sounds a little craaazy

    Who’s long LinkedIn? ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks fellas. Ran into an old colleague at my kids sports last weekend. He’s the portfolio manager at this place. He approached me and set it up. Its nice having someone in your corner as opposed to going in blind. Makes it a little easier. On that note…..i’m out. Be back later.

along those lines – i bet peeps are praying for Drowned > R&R from 6/29/00 and they’ll probably release the Limb preceeding it. But oddly enough I would be OK with that because it’s one of my fave Limbs.

  4. marcoesq Says:

As he’s said before, they’ve tried setlists: no dice. They’ve even tried songlists for the set but most of the calls comes from him.

Look at the “New” intros for the Wedge and Sand, totally open with the Trey lick now instead of the Fish beat

    food pron!

    vegheads need not click.
    not really your thing…

  6. marcoesq Says:

Yeah KP, I was hoping for the Drowned>RnR or the Split>Kung>jam but I was saying before, they’ll probably do the Guyute>Simple or even that Limb, yeah that sounds about right ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. BingosBrother Says:

haven’t read back yet, but that pic of PNC looks like a giant mushroom!

Sup KP. Some kids in IL have started a wrestling club with your name on it. They’re pretty damn tough too.

  8. marcoesq Says:

@KP, TIII and other Beantown folks

Any of you guys hit the GW ’00 shows? You remember that year when they put that sand into the lawn and made it like a beach? Think I twisted my ankle during that Twist

agree on 1.1, Alpine and Greek 3 wanting to go big

Utica – might have been the type of “catch fire while on stage” your talking about AW

dont think they planned Guyute teases thru out, which really made the show open up and get creative

  12. albert walker Says:

I feel every aspect of Alpine had the idea of being put on a DVD eventually

damn I wish I believed in magic like you kids

  13. mitch Says:

  14. marcoesq Says:

Well in Utica, there was a guy with a “Guyutica” sign right in front of the stage so I’m definitely sure that had something to do with it

  15. win butler Says:

    Trey decides what it contains,
    Will it be good,
    Will it be lame,
The only rule is it begins,
    Happy happy all my friends

^theres your simple answer right there.

I agree with that, similar to the ” I saw it again” business.
