TTFF: Venues of Summer: Leg One
As tour awaits, here’s little history to get us prepared for next week…
***
One of my favorite highlights from Merriweather history; some outlandish music.

“Bathtub Gin” 7.10.99 I
While “Tweezer,” “Birds,” and Chalk Dust” have all drawn their due credit from Phish’s first show in Camden, this “Bathtub Gin” helped craft a stellar opening set.

“Stash” 7.1.95 II SBD
A classic version from one of the final shows of Summer ’95 at Great Woods.

“2001” 7.7.99 II
This Charlotte set-opener, with an extended intro, gets into some a dynamic exercise in space-groove.

“Piper” 8.8.98 SBD
A stellar Summer ’98 version, just as “Piper” was breaking out of its shell.

“Twist -> Slave” 7.4.00 II SBD
This recently released nugget from Camden has been a favorite since I walked out of the show. This new SBD allows you to hear the nuances of this dark-themed interplay in “Twist,” while the “Slave took home the 4th of July.

“Reba” 9.14.2000 I
This “Darien “Reba” takes a brief dip into a dark theme before resolving back into the classic groove.

“Drowned -> Rock and Roll ” 6.29.00 I
A classic, old-western shredfest that capped the first set at PNC 2000.

sounds cool BK. i could never have the balls to do that. not big on speaking in front of crowds. hope it works out.
@DR P – I have that Ryan Adams is Dead mix. It’s under the Telas Rec folder.
Congrats BK.
I hope I get called back next week for further audition/rehearsal. Have never performed on a stage before. Should be fun. Just glad that I’m breaking out of my shell a bit.
I’m proud of you, @BK. I never had the nerve to do that kind of stuff in school. Your courage will be rewarded.
Next time sing Vegas Wolfmans BK. 😉 Way to go for it dude. Great place to meet girls too.
trying to launch wookipedia tomorrow. why dont y’all go add some stuff and make it look legit. The best entry is currently about hot pockets. C’mon. wattdayasay!

go….now!
@BK – even braver posting that info on PT!!
Definitely. I mean I’m just glad I went for it personally, after being extremely antisocial lately – likely going to audition for the musicals at my school next year now.
But it’d definitely be cool if I got into the main production this summer. Fingers crossed
Can’t wait to get my drunken smelly ass on a plane tomorrow. Enjoy the stink birches!!!
Stupid droid. Traveling with trees
Miner – is the point comedy? is it supposed to be a how to bb? like a bb for dumies?
Dirty Dozen just rocked Sonoma pretty hard
highlights included The Temptations “Papa was a rolling stone” containing some 3 dimensionsal thick porno movie soundtrack pocket action. and LF “Feats don’t fail me know”
Dirty Dozen is building upon a very jazzy, hard edge jammy pocket these days. Formed by my buddy, Jake Eckert on guitar. Bass Tuba and drums. The regular drummer, Terrance Higgins, is on tour with Warren. His fill in is pretty effin tight, and since he isn’t the regular, the pocket searches and wavers around a bit more. this adds another dynamic to an ultra thick layered sound. This isn’t your Mother’s brass band anymore. Jake was influenced by both Jerry and Trey.
the brass in this band are just some pure professionals. they don’t always pay attention and listen to each other quite as much as us hippy full band ensemble snobs would like, but when they do the results are astonishing.
i didn’t know what to expect seeing this dirty brass brand at a yuppie wine festival, with a homogenized white audience but the end result was the same as seeing them down in the dirty, dirty.
people dancing and feeling good
some lol, cougar dancing after they had a bit to much chardonnay
Anybody up??
holla, just got in
yea BK, just trying to digest the open jam after Have Mercy on this dvd
holy smokes, not too many band capable of THAT
More of that this summer and we’ll be set.
here is a link to Jake Eckert’s solo album “Roll On”. its feel good New Orleans style rock and roll. if you like Little Feat, ya might give it a try
