the video not even seeming like it goes with the music, helps illustrate the boys “magician” qualities, no?

    Morning, BB.

Beautiful morning in New England as it seems that most of the early September mornings are.

Just wanted to repost that I’ve been coerced into attending the benefit show next week. So if anyone has an extra pair of tixs please hit me up: beantownboy35 at gmail.

    Enjoy the day.

my mind was blown at times watching the videos and seeing up close and personal the chops of all the band members during the webcast of phresh never before heard phish . . . exciting to listen and watch . . . at home no less.

weird is not what comes to mind when watching the videos . . . more like wow! and awesome! but, whatevs. if by weird you mean astounding, then yes.

so if there’s 4 msg’s, the tentative plan is for a nanny the 30th and 31st, with one of us staying home the 28th and 29th to take turns watching baby.

my instinctive hunch is to sit out the 28th, to make sure i hit the hallowed 29th date. but i’ll tell ya, these opening nights after a break have been fuego……making the decision much tougher.

not to get to far ahead, but after missing all the 3 night runs this year, i’m pretty stoked over here, at the prospect of being back at MSG to ring the year in….

its just so different Phoam, from rarely looking at the stage (even when i take pictures – its different, cuz im just focusing and zooming and clicking)

for me, its the smells, sound distortions, slick floor, colors, did i mention colors, friends to dance with, bathroom lines to concur and scout around. Security to dodge or become friends with. its just ingrained tour kid life. The stream seems like a sterile, cheap snapshot of the real deal. maybe one of you can come over and spill beer on me and create a bathroom line at my house to give me authentico show feelings 🙂

i’m not even a tv guy besides sports, so that doesnt help

the 3d movie from Indio, really did nothing for me (we walked out and ate Italian, and came back for the end)

i tell ya, it would be a really good time to start liking the streams, as we might be getting close to all the shows steamed, and i do have 2 children 🙂

  7. phoammhead Says:

yeah, i hear you butter . . . very different for sure and the webcast is only a very far distant second to the real thing, but i’m glad for the development nonetheless and i rather enjoyed myself for the dick’s run

  8. butter Says:

big kicker for me would be if they could be on demand

pausing and watching on my time and ff’ing Alaska would be the shit

  9. phoammhead Says:

yeah, i’ve made about half the shows these last two years but i’m not sure that can continue in 2012 . . . we’ll see, though

  10. Lycanthropist Says:

what exactly do you guys mean the video doesnt go with the music?

  11. butter Says:

glad folks are getting moved by the stream

not to try and sound too heady, but this is a case where if i’d have toured less, i probably would like the stream more

gosh i feel like an old dog that cant be taught new tricks

  12. phoammhead Says:

actually only made about a 3rd of shows in ’10 and not quite half so far this year . . . on demand would be dope

  13. Lycanthropist Says:

the webcast and a show going experience are obviously two different entities.

I enjoy the webcast in a much different and more internal way than I do at the shows. From a musical critique perspective I actually can focus much more on the music on the webcast. However the live experience will put you in direct connection with the group think and wavelength of the crowd and band.

A webcast will never replace being there, but it does provide a unique perspective, and a much cheaper one at that. 😉

Being a musician, I love to see a lot of the close ups of the band’s hands at work. Love seeing each members equipment setup, etc etc.

  14. butter Says:

and hear comes the musician thinking “what are we supposed to look like when we play our instruments”

i think its just a case of the “sum equalling greater than the four parts that make it up”

  15. butter Says:

i dig the musicians side too Lycan

the one song per show video kickdown is about just right, for that for me

i dig reviewing the video releases from shows i was at

  16. butter Says:

i guess i haven’t accepted all the way, that i’m NOT at the show when i video stream.

that would be a good first step. oh well, i just try harder to be at the concert 😉

  17. butter Says:

i’m ready for some streamed NFL !!!!

  18. P.S.H.S. Says:

i concur, videos of the band are weird. if i wanted to see four middle aged men from vt, i’d go for a short drive across the river.
oh wait a minute, i’m going for a short drive across the river on wednesday, and whattaknow, i’m gonna see four middle aged men from vt. 😉

  19. phoammhead Says:

yeah, weird for all you muthafuckas that go to every show . . . i get it! 😉

  20. P.S.H.S. Says:

i only look at them between songs, or if i can hear a change coming. i used to love the “i’m gonna talk into this solo cup between songs so the kids in the front row can’t see what i’m calling” is it true that there was a
mic-in-a-cup? because i don’t ever recall them wearing earpieces. i know it’s the norm for most bands these days, as to cancel out noise pollution, but i can’t ever remember them having them. it’s always been trey calls to mike, mike tells fish, trey tells page

  21. Jtran Says:

Get ready for the junkiest venue of the year on Wednesday

  22. P.S.H.S. Says:

i haven’t been to one show since manchester, and haven’t bought one webcast. i only know if it’s a good show if miner says so 😉

  23. P.S.H.S. Says:

jtran, got the afternoon off, i’ll be there before you most likely

  24. Mr. Palmer Says:

I think the webcasts are great…..if you can’t be at the show.

Give your loved ones an extra hug or kiss today. It can all disappear in the blink of an eye. The sights, sounds, and smell of that day 10 years ago never go away for me. I was one of the lucky ones that day. Be good BB.

  25. phoammhead Says:

kinda like state or county fairground junky, jtran?

or by junky, do you mean vending will consist of fried funnel cake and fried snickers?

    or, both?
