Tunes of Tuesdays Past

6.27.10 (Graham Lucas)

Welcome to Tuesday! All songs in today’s playlist were performed on Tuesday, therefore bringing synchronicity between today and this music. Enjoy some of these lesser known selections.

Wolfman’s Brother” – 6.24.97 II, Strasbourg, FR

A heavy helping of raw, unpasteurized cowfunk from Europe ’97.

Bathtub Gin > Cities” – 7.1.97 II, Paradiso, NL

How about some more?

Ghost > Halley’s > Tweezer” – 11.24.98 II, New Haven, CT

Fast forward to the last Tuesday of tour during Fall ’98 in New Haven Coliseum.

Mike’s Song” 10.29.96 II, Tallahassee, FL

I often push this “Mike’s” in which the band got in some pre-Atlanta practice, vamping over Remain In Light’s “Houses in Motion” during the song’s second jam.

Simple” – 12.9.97 II, State College, PA

One of Fall ’97 most exploratory jams comes from one of its least talked about tour stops at Penn State.

Glide II” – 5.16.95, Lowell, MA

After a Voters For Choice benefit showcased six new originals and three new covers, many fans have been waiting for a return of this one-timer ever since.

David Bowie” – 6.13.95 II, Atlanta, GA

Summer ’95 + “Bowie” = psychedelic monstrosity

Keyboard Cavalry > Jam w/ MMW” – 10.17.95, New Orleans, LA

After playing an opening set for Phish in New Orleans, John Medeski, Billy Martin, and Chris Wood came out opening for an extended jam session with the guys to close out the second set. Fishman spent stints on vacuum and trombone.

Congrats Oldskool and Congrats to Spasm ❗ ❗ ❗

  2. DryIceFactory Says:

By the sound of it, 12/30 could be just as hard of a ticket as 12/31. Between the NYE on a Saturday in NYC hotel debacle, transportation costs, ticket prices and all the proper accoutriments, I expect to spend close to $800 (12/30 and 12/31) minimum. And I’m within striking distance of MSG (relatively) considering I live in Boston.

The NYE Mike’s will make it all worth the trouble.

  3. Spasm Waiter Says:

I have always respected my wife, Sonja, but I have a newfound amazement after that.

  4. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

Congrats again to the new daddies and their lovely mommies

Reminder: your wife may expect some random expensive gift for giving birth to your progeny.

    I Didn’t Know.

@spasm congratulations, man, the BB baby boom is no joke!

  12. MrCompletely Says:

“jimmy hat” is one of the greatest slang terms in history

“Sorta makes all the other days seem like they led up to this one for this reason, huh?”

so true. really let me lay down any lingering regrets over paths not taken. I’m here now and my kid is here now and that means that whatever led up to this was the righteous unfolding. all is as it must be.

I am a strong disbeliever in fate but sometimes as a parent it is hard to feel otherwise

  13. MrCompletely Says:

push present…man, glad my wife missed out on that concept, apparently

    I’d buy her anything anyway

  14. garretc Says:

Seriously, this baby boom makes me worried that somewhere out there there’s a young woman about to push out a progeny with my genes any day now!

Oh, wait, wasn’t getting any 9 months ago…

  15. MrCompletely Says:

push present? see that beautiful baby? you’re welcome.

Ever since I decided to be a juggalo for Halloween I see juggaloes everywhere. drove home behind one yesterday, saw another one on the way home today. Fascinating to me. Is it because I’ve been deep into the juggalo subculture the last month and am looking for them or are they attracted to me now that I’m becoming one of them? Fuckin magnets, how do they work? Woo woo, Family! Woo woo!

  19. Mr. Palmer Says:

  20. joe Says:

the new hampton box set probably isn’t an appropriate present for the new mothers. maybe for the new children.

  21. Mr. Palmer Says:

Reports are no fatalities in the Panic bus crash besides the driver who had a heart attack.
