Turkey Tunes: Pt. I

Turkey Day is Coming...

Phish and Thanksgiving have long held a connection in the minds of many fans. Landing on Fall Tour so many times, everyone has at least one funny story about a Phishy Thanksgiving spent on the road. But without a fall tour this year, let’s take the opportunity to look back at the intersection of fall tours past and Turkey Day. This playlist is plucked entirely of shows played on the Wednesday, immediately preceding the festival of family, food and football.

  4. Robear Says:

Duder likes fake cranberry jello stuff? That figures…..

  5. angryjoggerz Says:

That is awesome, Halycon. I mean, that just makes sense to me, but it only works if everyone plays along. My wife and I are working hard on the “let’s just give gifts to the kids” rule, and making some progress. I mean, who does not love to give a kid a toy and seeing their faces light up. That is some good shit.

Holiday rant over, out of my system…. now I work. I do love working during the holidays because no one is here, I can dress casually, and I get a ton of shit done.

    I like the BS.

The more gifts the better. Call me an asshole.

I try not an overthink it. If it puts a smile on someone’s face, that’s all I care about. If it’s a watch or a donation or these hooker boots that I always buy my wife. It’s all good. Spend, spend spend people. It’s the American way.

I love the BS. I eat it up.

  17. tela'smuff Says:

i like jelled cranberry. sometimes it’s just better. people get too crazy with cranberry sometimes and i end up picking out branches and shit from the sauce.

  18. SillyWilly Says:

I just want to say, as always, that you all are great.

Im a sentimental kid (obviously), but every once in awhile I just gotta get that out: Great place to air out ideas.

  19. EL Duderino Says:

    @ Jtran

When seeing Kimock it will behoove you to have a couch, lounge chair/lazy boy. Not a dancing show to say the least can be very h3tty music

i have to say MIner put up this Turkey mix, and my mind went right to being on tour in 98

i was on tour with Pu and we had just raged the Albany show, and we all know the rich history of the 3pack at Wooster immediately after turkey day

but what i was really hit with this year in 98 was a homesick feeling on the off day (Thanksgiving) in a stark white cheap hotel somewhere in the NE. i remember just wishing i was back on the west coast with friends or even in the midwest with my family…anything besides the drab motor inn, 6 white wall cube i was in. we went out and foraged some Vietnamese food, and i whined myself to sleep…

and when we awoke we had a 3 pack in front of us at Wooster and Turkey day was another 365 days away

  21. EL Duderino Says:

yes the twigs bother me Tela’s

  22. Mike in Austin Says:

I wish I was smart enough to do a little dance.

“I mean, who does not love to give a kid a toy and seeing their faces light up. That is some good shit.”

^ yup. My kids have about 6-8 cousins on either side of the family. its just nice for them to all get together and enjoy each others company. I manage to get through it with booze and pharmies… to each their own.

  24. angryjoggerz Says:

Palmer, I’ve never taken any pharmies before but thinking they may help for this holiday. Want to get all Trey’d up under the tree. What should I ask my doctor for?

  25. SillyWilly Says:

    great thanksgiving story, butter

    thanks for sharing that.
