Hidden Track

As I’ve been busy shipping book and not updating the site, a couple different interviews I did have posted to the web. First, I took part in Hidden Track’s Writer’s Workshop— a broad and in depth interview with Ryan Dembinsky about my blog, writing philosophy, my book and Phish.

Additionally, I did a Q & A with Charlie Dirksen of that was specifically focused on Phish Thoughts—The Book. (With a brief aside about Trey’s “Taste” tease in 7.17.’98’s “Weekapaug” jam.) Check ’em out!

BOOK SHIPPING UPDATE: All domestic orders have processed and will be shipped as of today! I am going to begin figuring out the international ones—hang tight! You can be sure now, if you order a book now, that it will ship the same day or the following day at the latest. Thanks for your support and I, sincerely, hope everyone who ordered a book enjoys it during the holiday season and beyond!

On way back to hotel from the in laws, Christmas is over! I got though it with only one present (a travel umbrella that I gave to my brother in law because I did not need it) so I don’t have a single thing to carry back. My kid had a blast, we ate well, Im drunk, all is well.

  2. Guyute711 Says:

Haven’t been able to stop by as I have been cranking out rounds of disc golf and showering myself in the High Life. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. One more thing, Phish give me some Dog Log for Phishmas!!!!

  3. Mike in Austin Says:

Cheers AJ. Got 1 sweater. And drunk. Perfect

I definitely recommend going to Project/Object. They do a very credible job with FZ music, I’ve seen some really good shows. And Ike Willis is a treasure. Not sure if Ray White is with them right now, but if so that’s a huge bonus. They’re really good and don’t shy away from tough material…I’ve seen them play outstanding versions of The Black Page, RDNZL, Echidna’s Arf, and other challenging stuff.

I encourage support of P/O whenever possible because I believe in their mission and IMO they’ve been shafted by Gail Zappa and the family trust. I see more credibility in Ike playing FZ music than Dweezil, to be honest.

Merry Christmas all and see you at MSG!

  5. kayatosh Says:

    thanks, cable. great P/O intel.

How have they been shafted by gail zappa and the family trust?

    Day off, work, msg

    Evening folks….

Last night of work for the week then begins my weekend. 4 days in sunny San Diego before I return to work on NYE. Off to Stone Brewing tomorrow evening for dinner and drinks.

Wish I was able to swing MSG, but need to save my days off for futuregirl.

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. May the rest of the week be safe, and most of all $$$$$.

  8. kayatosh Says:

    do it, tran.

looks like the 29th will be my lone MSG. but it will be mighty fine. grateful to be doing one at all at my advanced age and decrepitude.

I have my fellow ole BB heads to thank for helping to relight my show going flames, which had all been snuffed out in 2004. Rides, tickets, places to stay, general inspiration. couldn’t have gotten to as many shows w/o this place and its kind denizens.

not so sure a BBless kaya makes it to MSG for a show.

    so thanks, ole heads.

gotta give it up to the newbloods as well. your take on phish and relationship w/ IT have provided the freshness and seing you at shows is like going to an oxygen bar.

thank you to everyone here. the contrarians, the pollyannas, the musicians, the reggae heads, the uptight dudes, the loose dudes, the theremin dudes, the foodies, the wine heads, the frees spirits, the skiers, the guys on the ground, the philosophers, the readers, and the herbalists.

    thank you all. jerry phishmas

  9. kayatosh Says:

    peace, halcyon

  10. Mike in Austin Says:

Looking forward to meeting you kaya. Great post as always.

  11. kayatosh Says:

    likewise, mia.

I’ll be holdin it down at the hie on the 29th. miner’s partays and the show. other than it’s all gravy. thinking of hitting aw’s 3:15 party w/ the medi gas and fish scale (not even poz what that is). hilarious

  12. Cable Hogue Says:

The Zappa family trust has threatened all kinds of legal action against P/O to stop them from covering FZ music, even including sending threatening letters to club owners who book the band…it’s led to gigs cancelled and tons of headaches for the band. The ZFT really stepped up their aggressiveness in that department when Dweezil got his band together. IMO it’s a very sad tale, these guys are motivated by love for FZ music and aren’t getting rich playing it…

reading that and some of the comments below will give you a little insight into the sordid story.

  13. kayatosh Says:

no way, cable. that blows. who the freak tries to stop music from being performed? Crazy that this is coming form the zappa camp.

    i’m goin.

  14. Mike in Austin Says:

    Note: green bay defense sucks.

  15. SillyWilly Says:

    yeah, they’re not looking good

gonna have to figure that out before the playoffs

kinda fun to watch two old ND backs playing tonight. ryan grant and armando allen

  16. kayatosh Says:

thanks again for the insight, cable.

  17. angryjoggerz Says:

    Oh, and by the way….

  18. Cable Hogue Says:

Good to hear! Post a report on the BB after the show, I’m curious to hear how they’re doing….they always have a slightly different lineup but in my experience they put on a good show. I always keep an eye out for P/O, they haven’t been to my neck of the woods in a while.

Their bandleader, Andre Chomondley (sp?), is a really nice and intelligent guy. Very committed to the music. He also works (or worked) as Adrian Belew’s guitar tech.

  19. halcyon Says:

Peace to you to Kaya. Cable, MIA, Jtran as well. Really hope the MSG run shines a light on the BB’s soul and inspires people for 2012.

  20. SillyWilly Says:

comforting to know that the scene will be full of so many great people for NYE

  21. angryjoggerz Says:

back in hotel, feeling good. overall a success. I did not fight with my in laws at all, mostly because it was impossible to talk with the two out of control boys running around (while my girl looked at them with a judgemental smirk – so proud). Dropped 9 gigs of foundation dubstep on my younger brother in law, so hopefully he can just delete the skrillex shit tonight and go deep, hahah.

Anyway, happy to be leaving tomorrow, off to DC to be with my mom for a few days, then off to NYC to kill it at MSG with MiA and crew. Cannot wait.

Thanks again for being chipper when I was a christmas hater. Appreciate it and glad it is over. Onward!

  22. SillyWilly Says:

    you soldier’d through Aj

you’ll get a big reward in nyc.

im sure your younger bro in law is pumped to have someone like you to hang out with during family things like that

  23. butter Says:
