TTFF: Relics of ’98

Denver 2011
This Friday’s playlist is composed of jams from a different era. All of the songs featured today have taken a back seat during the modern era of Phish, but were once central jam vehicles. I decided to pluck stellar versions from 1998 to add cohesion to the selections. Enjoy the tunes today and through the weekend!

“2001” 7.17.98 II
One of the all-time classic versions that never gets old.

you a GOP supporter?!? NO WAY!
Well, I bet it’s nice to have him in town then
assume that’s sarcasm duder
Yeah it is. We haven’t really had a chance to get togehter but once, but still, it’s good to have an old friend close by
He should have moved all the way down
island tour split – 4/5/98 . for your 98 approval. although I guess you could do island tour (insert song) 4/( )/98 for your approval.
@ duder – half his work responsibility is here (spartanburg actually) and half in CLT – so it made sense to him to move here, since it’s closer to the ATL.
can’t give up a job in hand
ahh
about to sign off, close up, and go drink some absinthe
keep it light NTM
always, dude, always. Peace out!
@MiA – if you’re out there, i heard you mention that you are a fan of the uplifting jams, i gotta pimp the 7/10/99 chalkdust if you haven’t spun it in a while. lifting me up sky high right now, this is an incredible jam.
beautiful, simple, jaw dropping leads from trey w/mega sustain. mmm, tasty
Been on an ABP ( Anything But Phish) music binge lately .

i’d never heard it before @lumpy, but man was that the goods. i’ve been on a big 98-00 kick lately, just running thru some 99 the last few days. love the sound they hone in on during this time.
hearing 12.7.99 for the first time yesterday has got me in a 98-99 frenzy. can’t get enough.
when I heard that CDT for the first time I almost strangled my brother for not having shown it to me prior.
hahaha, thats great
@Dayman
As in the Camden ’99 SBD release Chalk Dust?
‘Cause that’s a hella fly jam. In a hella fly show. Can’t get enough of the descending line Trey latches onto in the Gin, it sticks with me… I could sing it from memory right now!
Plus a dope Tweezer > Mountains in the Mist and a sick, trancy Birds and you’ve got yourself a high quality official release…
Thanks dude. Not really into collecting the vids anymore.
I’ve noticed a ton more complete shows/sets up on youtube lately. Some really great stuff i’ve never seen before.
Yeah, they changed how you upload to youtube (no time limit)
2/24/03 Disease – $$+ version to open the show ($$$ opener though)
Really great, multi-themed jam
