Three Eras of Tube”

6.6.09 - Great Woods (Graham Lucas)

Today we take a glimpse at three generations of “Tube.” Enjoy. And if you need more “Tubes” to listen to when you are done with this sample size, check out some others here. Have a great Thursday!

7.16.98 II, George, WA

This wide-open funk jam oozes with the sound of the Gorge. Over-sized, chunky bass lines anchor this version as Trey adds all sorts of wah-groove into the mix. Trey then set some loops as Page sculpts the sound alongside him, adding a whole different, cathartic ambiance to the music. Returning to an extended series of slamming, whole-band grooves, this Gorge version has always been one of my go-to favorites

2.22.03 II, Cincinnati, OH

This explosive version kicked off one of the marquee sets of February ‘03’s comeback tour at The Crown in Cincinnati. Both Trey and Page stood out in a jam that moves far beyond anything we’ve heard recently. This furious rendition took over the entire arena, whose roar you can hear in multiple mid-jam peaks. Fishman keeps a driving, cymbal-heavy beat chugging for the duration of this best-of-the-post-hiatus era “Tube.”

6.18.09 I, Burgettstown, PA

Though its Star Lake show was nothing spectacular, this first set “Tube” remains the most significant of the modern era. Page’s takes an extended clav solo as Trey comps him with a diversity of rhythm patterns and pitch-bent notes. Trey then moves on, hitting some high-octave lead lines before the band comes back together in swanky groove and the final verse of the song.

Or at least at the Federal Reserve. Mr. Geithner and Krugman would be happy too.

Every politician just creates more money and the future taxpayers are burdened with it. The oldest people get the best deal. Pyramid scheme at it’s finest.

    I got no luck

I’ve written off a shit tons of debts to custies in the day and no one has ever offered me principal reduction in a loan to me.

am I the sucka for not leveraging up and paying all my debts on time?

    fun times.

  8. Mike in Austin Says:

My neighbor “walked” from his $410K mortgage by getting a “short sell” from the bank for $259K and it didn’t hurt his credit rating at all. Just handed the keys over.

I have thought the same thing.

  9. dorn76 Says:

So depending on the day, I’m either not poor enough or not rich enough to qualify for a gov’t bailout.

    Middle Class’d.

  10. Mike in Austin Says:

He was on a Govt Military Pension (a Major) and his wife was on Public Pension (Teacher) and they own a 40′ sailboat and a 5th wheel and second home on the lake.

In the not so funny, he hated Obama, and always loved to talk about “personal fiscal responsibility” and such.

  11. SillyWilly Says:

Debt is that friend who’s always around when you’re trying to mack and who always figures out a way to ruin.

    Woman: “So, what’s going on?”

    Silly: “Hey…”

Debt: “Silly doesn’t have a job.”

    Woman: “Oh. Laterz.”

    Money is just an illusion.

  13. SillyWilly Says:

Besides the Young MC’s economic analysis, this one is very is pretty interesting:

I tend to agree with Korten more on the problem than the solution. He thinks small, local businesses will avoid the problems of big ones. I see little evidence to support that.

joined the BS club and went long today. felt like less of grind than being short. scalpin came almost too easy. a little sweatin. deteriorating dollar = stock price appreciation. fightin my way back to zero.

wash you feetzies and drive me to forenze

  19. kayatosh Says:

while listening today 12.3.2009 Piper jumped out at me as $$$. Dec. 2009 was a step up.

and that 12.29.2009 tweezer is a great one — multi-spinner. jam seems to go by fast.

  20. albert walker Says:

I was thinking the same thing kaya

seemed to bounce after about the exact same move and in the exact same timeframe as yesterday

longs wanted to make sure there wasn’t a big move to the downside and once they had the all clear melted it up on small volume

technically kinda bumpin up against those late april highs. a break out today could cause this thing to keep runnin

  21. Mr.Miner Says:

whats a good SHN > ALAC converter, or does that take 2 steps?

  22. snowbank Says:

All I knows about stock is that I have been long on apple since 2008 and that is nearing a 500% return.

  23. albert walker Says:

    I love that Piper Kaya.

that BOTT and GHost are all top shelf IMO

the Piper Trey had that almost envelope filter jerry esque mutron style tone for a bit. great version.

that run was such a huge jump up from the rest of 09. Fish just seemed to be jumpin compared to earlier tours.

  24. Mike in Austin Says:

I’m with ya Kaya. Still holding AAPL, and I think refineries are probably a good buy here.

Geraldo Pino. Just discovered for me.
