Five Favorites From Summer ’95
“Tweezer” 6.14 II, Memphis, TN
The Mud Island “Tweezer,” a classic and personal favorite that—I feel—is captivating for the entire 50 minutes.

“Runaway Jim -> Free” 6.15 II, Raleigh, NC
Phish took this doggie a long way from home in Walnut Creek, another classic rendition.

“David Bowie” 6.24 II, Philadelphia, PA
In a summer that contained countless standout “Bowies,” this version from the Mann Music Center is among the elite.

“Down With Disease -> Free” 6.26 II, S. Springs, NY
One of the finest sequences of music from a spectacular summer—a two-pronged, psychedelic monstrosity.

“Stash” 6.17 II, Gainesville, VA
A mind-numbing version from that closed the first set on the fifth night of a five night run. And it wound up being the highlight of the show.

First!!
..and therefore I feel qualified to add “REBA” from Deer Creek 06/19/95 to the list.
This is my absolute favorite version – turns into a blues jam and back to multiple peaks of incredible intensity. MUST HEAR!
i’ll second . . . ’95!
They were already past their prime, wasn’t as good as 94. 😉
I think that’s seven.
Thanks! Friday… Full speed ahead.
I caught that Viginia show, it was sick. Can’t forget about the Tweezer-> JBG->Tweezer
Looks like another deep space morning at work. Thanks Miner!
mornin’ party people
@mia what was the inscription that made your wife cry? or maybe that’ a little personal. carry on.
the inclusion of this memorable Bowie reminds me to once again sound off about how they need to play the Mann again… Such a better experience than Camden. Absolutely love that venue.
My fav tour
Great picks man
New music at work rules will be broken today
that Gainesville show is a total sleeper. Along with the Curtain>Stash to close the 1st there’s a hot Maze, a big Tweezer with the debut of JBG that seemed to come from nowhere sandwiched in there, a solid Hood, and then the Three Little Birds encore that made us all swoon.
Music at work rules would suck.
Starting out with the Gainesville Stash. Love this Stash.

Id like a summer 95 roll call please. I was finishing college that Summer. Graduated aug 95. Didn’t catch one show.
Gonna start squirreling away money for an Aug trip.
who need good music when you have Becky, Joe, and Carl yappin all morning MIA?
I only saw the Fleezer show summer 95 but saw 6 in the winter.
Morning! Visiting 7 schools today, lunch at Sundance, then dinner hosted by the local Chinese peeps. Mormon chaperone (she is super nice). Im gonna drink hella coffee in the car.
Ps. Utah totally reminds me of Tibet (landscape only, obviously). Though, I guess there is something about living high up in the mountain valleys that makes people religion crazed.
At least Cramer is doing “Anger Management Classes”. He’s 1/10th less of a d-bag.
I’m sure he’s doing under court order though.
I HEART Two-Pronged Psychedelic Monstrosities.
I was not on tour in ’95. Should have been though.
95 was my first year of being officially dropped out of college. was enrolled in 94 but just never went. saw most of this summer.
20 minutes into this tweezer remembering vividly why this is my fav tour
damn FIsh was just a beast 93-95. so crisp.
I did most of summer 95. Hard to keep up on that tour. We would have to drive most of the night and morning to do all the tour. Agree with the Deer Creek Reba being a shredder. Also think they should play the Mann again. So many great times there. Memphis Tweezer was an experience. That venue is beautiful. Blossom ripped that tour too. I think there will be an extensive mid west tour this summer on leg 1. Post the tour already!
Harry Hood, Jones Beach 6/28/95 is, I believe, the greatest Hood ever played.
Were you there Ramon?
Disease is getting very “Tweezer” like.
Fishman is all over his kit on this. Very percussive sounding this whole tour. Not the cymbal laden soundscapes he’s throwing down lately.
just finished law school . . . caught raleigh
95 summer is not the best tour to be building Excel models too. keep getting lost in these jams.
Anyhooo. Those dates dont do much for me, I guess I would do Alpine if I am in the country, but that is usually a time when I am in China. Nothing standing out as a travel destination. Maybe Leg 2 will inspire me.
