Five Favorites From Summer ’95

Jones Beach — Summer '95

Tweezer” 6.14 II, Memphis, TN

The Mud Island “Tweezer,” a classic and personal favorite that—I feel—is captivating for the entire 50 minutes.

Runaway Jim -> Free” 6.15 II, Raleigh, NC

Phish took this doggie a long way from home in Walnut Creek, another classic rendition.

David Bowie” 6.24 II, Philadelphia, PA

In a summer that contained countless standout “Bowies,” this version from the Mann Music Center is among the elite.

Down With Disease -> Free” 6.26 II, S. Springs, NY

One of the finest sequences of music from a spectacular summer—a two-pronged, psychedelic monstrosity.

Stash” 6.17 II, Gainesville, VA

A mind-numbing version from that closed the first set on the fifth night of a five night run. And it wound up being the highlight of the show.

i want to pick one fun road trip type of thing, like Shoreline>Gorge. –tela’s

Save me a seat in that car? 🙂

  3. Robear Says:

phantasy tour is so weird. there was a thread last night, from a guy claiming there was a huge feud over the NYE run backstage. That they almost cancelled the show on the 30th, but things smoothed over after the manager of MSG talked them down. Then someone else chimes in, claiming their girlfriends friend knew about it too. but no details.

who has the time to make this stuff up? there are no fans back stage anymore. family and employees only. strict.

  4. Robear Says:

I case you have nothing better to do, here’s the thread.

  5. tela'smuff Says:

    tzara – of course!

  6. tzara's Says:

@tela’s, sweet, could prob make that work. ThR only leg 1’s I have a shot at would be av->deer creek. Tempting.

  7. DukeOfLizards Says:

Yo @Rob, I heard you like memes.

  8. tela'smuff Says:

“i was dancer #9 during the steam gag; the raggedy andy looking dude. i don’t know this band at all, but i know tension when i see tension. shit’s bad.”

Ha ha, I don’t know the band at all but keep up with all their message boards.

  13. Robear Says:

G7, that line made me laugh out loud. couldn’t believe it. there’s some creative and funny nuggets in with the garbage.

  14. Mr. Palmer Says:

T3- Nice try , pal. Go STJ!! 😉

  15. Robear Says:

G7, the other classic is the ‘friend of the girl who’s friend slept with Mike in ’97 or ’98’.

now there’s a good source. I’m sure all Mikes’ old groupies have seats next to his wife, kid and nanny back stage.

  16. Guyute711 Says:

I just love how everybody reiterates the whole vague story then says that it should stay between the band. I didn’t know how many 15 year old girls followed Phish.

Boston area people: I have an extra FREE ticket to Steel Pulse / Galactic at the HOB tomorrow night. I responded to a contest on impulse (peanut gallery resident in me made me do it) and won the tickets. most likely the only entry. Anyway, being a Sunday night and having older/lamer friends, I am going solo but the contest was for a pair. Any interest drop me a line.

  20. Guyute711 Says:

Wow, that is a bad loss for ND.

  21. Guyute711 Says:

I figured it out, they had an intervention on Page. No more hot pockets.

  22. Mr. Palmer Says:

St. John’s will be nasty in a year or two. Foundation is set.

  23. BingosBrother Says:

6 hour drive to Memphis = closest trek for Bearito in 3.0

    Cha ching!

Looks like I’ll hit the dirty jerz and scratch the frack outta Bonnaroo. Makes sooooooo much more sense. Can only afford 1 long weekend in June.

Mud Island Tweezer for lunch today.

Just found an “App” has been installed on my iPhone by a hacker somehow, and it downloaded $50 out of my iTunes account. Calling Apple now to get it refunded (hopefully).

Shanghai MUHE network is the App. I guess it’s happening to a lot of folks right now.

Dammit. So much for Apple products not getting viruses or broken into.
