Five Favorites From Summer ’95

Jones Beach — Summer '95

Tweezer” 6.14 II, Memphis, TN

The Mud Island “Tweezer,” a classic and personal favorite that—I feel—is captivating for the entire 50 minutes.

Runaway Jim -> Free” 6.15 II, Raleigh, NC

Phish took this doggie a long way from home in Walnut Creek, another classic rendition.

David Bowie” 6.24 II, Philadelphia, PA

In a summer that contained countless standout “Bowies,” this version from the Mann Music Center is among the elite.

Down With Disease -> Free” 6.26 II, S. Springs, NY

One of the finest sequences of music from a spectacular summer—a two-pronged, psychedelic monstrosity.

Stash” 6.17 II, Gainesville, VA

A mind-numbing version from that closed the first set on the fifth night of a five night run. And it wound up being the highlight of the show.

About to hit up first puff and today’s AC Milan – Juventus game, pretty stoked.

Top 2 teams in Serie A going head to head in a little season matchup! Feel the excitement!

  2. garretc Says:

    “Late” not “little”…

    I should fire my proofreader

  3. Mr.Miner Says:

Those dates Tela linked suck cause there’s no woosta. Always the chance the band will rehearse at the Centrum but not publicly play there -boo!

    ^ Woosta is on

  4. Mr.Miner Says:

Thanks @GDad and @Bingos. Means a lot to hear that.

I also think that MPP may not have 2 dates and there will be some Ohio before Deer Creek. nTelos does have 2 dates, I’m told after AC (though they would seem to fir better beforehand)….we’ll see.

  5. Mr. Palmer Says:

    Blossom i guess.

  6. Tom Says:

Glad to hear that woosta dates are on. Is the Bonnaroo date definitely 6/10?

  7. Mr. Palmer Says:

Deciding what shows to hit Leg 1 is going to be tough.

    Bethel Boogie > Waves

    Sandbagging mofos

2011 Phish at an utterly high level

    Supp with dates?

  9. ElJefe Says:

Garret-“watching” the Man City game rt now. They are on a different level when they get it together. But my boys took em out of the Carling Cup. Come on Redmen!!

  10. jtran Says:

Just watched terrance maliks tree of life. Hmm/woah

Think I liked it, but who really knows. Have you seen it sumo? Thoughts?

  11. Guyute711 Says:

Great second half for UCONN , not enough!!!!

  12. kenny powers Says:

that’s on my list Jtran, almost spun it tonight but i heard you need to be ready to really digest it.

watched Take Shelter last night, really good. Tonight I’m halfway through a doc about mountaintop coal mining called “The Last Mountain”. Required viewing.

  13. BingosBrother Says:

Take Shelter is next for me.

New OFWGKTA if you haven’t seen it.

  14. garretc Says:

    @El Jefe

Really curious to see how Tevez fits back into that squad…

Just got to halftime of ACM-Juve, we got straight up rob of a goal, clear cut 2 feet inside the line before it got pulled back out by the goalie, no whistle though. So only 1-0 Milan instead of 2-0. Great half of soccer though

  15. sumodie Says:

loved Tree of Life! Kinda had your reaction after seeing it, jtran, but after the dazed & confused feeling wore off I realized I srsly dug it

seems folks either love it or hate it, def a hard flick to recommend

sure, it’s flawed, but it oozes artistry & existential ideas. Excellent cast, including a terrific Brad Pitt

waaay better than the Artist, which will likely win the top prize Sunday nite

almost done with season 5 of Lost (Hurley & the Empire Strikes Back is classic!)

Worcester better be on for Leg1!!!! 8)

  16. sumodie Says:

Dick’s Tweezer does not suck (actually the DWD >> LxL before I stopped)

after finishing Phil Lesh 4.20.01 with Herring and Haynes, I switched gears back to Phish & was immediately reminded of how much I love Trey’s guitar tone -it cuts right to my soul. MSG is sooo yesterday, summer Phish here I come>>>>>

  17. Al Says:

    Good mornin’ everyone,
everyone seems to be bashing those MSG shows – but there were some magic moments in each show.
One example for the hidden beauty is the MSG Ghost.
What Mike is doing in that jam is simply magical, incredible. True, there is no Type II>III jam getting on, but I prefer this Ghost to the 11/21/97 that has lately been released. Full stop.

  18. Al Says:

The 11/21/97 Ghost is doing nothing to me, …they’re searching and searching and nothing of all that touches me…

  19. phoammhead Says:
