Five Favorites From Summer ’95

Jones Beach — Summer '95

Tweezer” 6.14 II, Memphis, TN

The Mud Island “Tweezer,” a classic and personal favorite that—I feel—is captivating for the entire 50 minutes.

Runaway Jim -> Free” 6.15 II, Raleigh, NC

Phish took this doggie a long way from home in Walnut Creek, another classic rendition.

David Bowie” 6.24 II, Philadelphia, PA

In a summer that contained countless standout “Bowies,” this version from the Mann Music Center is among the elite.

Down With Disease -> Free” 6.26 II, S. Springs, NY

One of the finest sequences of music from a spectacular summer—a two-pronged, psychedelic monstrosity.

Stash” 6.17 II, Gainesville, VA

A mind-numbing version from that closed the first set on the fifth night of a five night run. And it wound up being the highlight of the show.

kind of burns me up. looks like levon’s doctors deemed him healthy again…i gotta get my act together and get up there.

hey Rob thanks for asking…she standing right here and we’re exactly one week from leaving the hospital.

right now we monitor her blood glucose level twice a day and her levels have been very normal and steady. we also would look for ketones in her pee if she had glucose over 200 (it’s been between 75 and 110 over the past week). basically we are just await the results of the antibody presence test we get back in about 8 days. if it’s negative i believe she was just experiencing a wild anomaly. if it’s positive…well…we’ll deal with that reality.

will report back. thanks again for asking 🙂

Seeing Greenskybluegrass in Arcata onTuesday, then Seun Kuti @ Mateel on March 23. Big news for little Humboldt. No idea yet on Phishing. Holding out hope for a date or two out west on each summer leg.

  14. Robear Says:

Radio head sounds like an awesome live show. Babe fest I imagine….ESP compared to Meatsticks impending tour.

  15. phoammhead Says:

never seen RH, so yeah getting excited about the sounds and . . . sights! . . . should be interesting

  16. Robear Says:

I’ve had something stuck in my eye for days. Probably Sheetrock or fiber insulation. Sucks. Driving me cuckoo.

  17. phoammhead Says:

bek absolutely loves RH . . . she knows their music inside and out. it’ll be sweet seeing how excited she gets . . . seeing her light up is such a great time.

  18. Mr.Miner Says:

everyone seems to be bashing those MSG shows – but there were some magic moments in each show.
One example for the hidden beauty is the MSG Ghost.
What Mike is doing in that jam is simply magical, incredible. True, there is no Type II>III jam getting on, but I prefer this Ghost to the 11/21/97 that has lately been released. Full stop.

    ^ ummmm. no comment.

  19. joe Says:

    good news gdad.

    repost from yesterday:

Boston area people: I have an extra FREE ticket to Steel Pulse / Galactic at the HOB tomorrow night. I responded to a contest on impulse (peanut gallery resident in me made me do it) and won the tickets. most likely the only entry. Anyway, being a Sunday night and having older/lamer friends, I am going solo but the contest was for a pair. Any interest drop me a line.

  20. Robear Says:

Phoam, I never really gave them much thought either way until @Lycan started talking about them. Watching the Glastonbury vid piqued my interest. I don’t spin them at home, but would def catch a live show if I could. Maybe time to peak at the tour dates.

  21. Robear Says:

Ehl oh ehl, Miner. Did they play ‘Ghost’ on the last run?

  22. Mr.Miner Says:

    ^ I don’t recall @Rob 😉

  23. joe Says:

edit in that post – show is tonight

  24. Mr. Palmer Says:

Radiohead is on my show bucket list also. I think it would be great fun. May try and see the Wall at Yankee Stadium also.

    Some Electric Byrd this morning.

  25. Robear Says:
